Ltd.’s digital portal Master Marine Digitech 3 (MMD3). The integration allows Softlink’s customers filing of VGM and FORM 13 from Logi-Sys or Live IMPEX to MMD3 via an API thereby ensuring no duplication of data or multiple punching thus ensuring data flow in a seamless, secure manner which in turn can be transferred on real-time basis to the liners, Cont’d. APM Terminals Pipavav announces third quarter results Consolidated Q3FY21 performance vs. Q3FY20 •Revenue from opera ons at INR 1984.00 million vs. INR 1,965.81 million •EBITDA at INR 1100.21 million vs. INR 1170.51million •Net Proﬁt at INR 587.24 million vs. INR 1,340.07 million MUMBAI / PIPAVAV: APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) reported consolidated net profit of INR 587.24 million for the third quarter ended December 31, 2020. For the corresponding period of last year, the Company had reported consolidated net profit of INR 1,340.07 million. The net profit for the quarter is not comparable as the Company had deferred tax reversal in Q3FY20. Revenue from the operation in Q3FY21 stood at INR 1,984 million as against INR 1965.81 million higher by 1%. Earnings before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) is INR 1100.21 million as compared to INR 1170.51 million in Q3FY20. EBITDA margin stood at 55% in Q3FY21 as against 60% in Q3FY20 due to certain one-off expense incurred during the quarter. Excluding those one-off expense, the

EBITDA margin is maintained at 60%. For the nine months ended Dec 31, 2020, the revenues stood at INR 5,400.36 million lower by 5.8% compared to same period of last year. EBIDTA and Net profit was at INR 3084.26 million and INR 1,565.63 million respectively. During the quarter, the Port achieved another milestone of handling highest number of double stack trains in a single month. The port handled 181 double stack trains in November 2020, out of which 157 trains were outward double stack trains. The Port also took the initiative to facilitate the trade by reducing the terminal handling charges for empty containers by 25% to address the critical issue of severe shortage of containers due to significant drop in imports in the quarter gone by.

Dedicated connections between the port and inland container depots (ICDs) With this second weekly block train, CMA CGM and DICT assure more efficient dedicated services for their customers based in the region by helping them bring their cargo to locations on time. The two weekly trains will run between Mundra to DICT Sonepat: • Tuesday/Wednesday for the first block train • Saturday/Sunday for the second block train DICT started the first block train for CMA CGM in August 2019 and to date, the two companies have jointly handled 86 block trains. CMA CGM offers innovative intermodal solutions to meet customers' needs and reduce CO2 emissions This second weekly block train between Mundra port and Sonepat is one of several initiatives the CMA CGM Group has implemented to boost capacity to meet its customers' needs and make the shipping and logistics supply chain as seamless as possible. CMA CGM is developing sustainable door-to-door solutions to allow customers to reduce the carbon footprint of transported goods significantly. Compared to cargo movement via truck, the block train option reduces CO2 emissions by up to 67%. At the start of the second block train service from Mundra to Sonepat, Atit Mahajan, General Manager CMA CGM India, said, "CMA CGM Group is on a strategic

expansion in India keeping the requirements of our customers as our prime focus. This second train service from Mundra to NCR region will allow our customers to benefit from an extended guaranteed capacity coupled to more flexibility with two departures per week." NYK to build four new LNG-Fueled PCTCs Using New Technologies to Further Reduce GHG Emissions TOKYO: NYK has concluded a shipbuilding contract with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd. for four LNG-fueled PCTCs. These four vessels will be delivered from 2022 to 2023 and are planned to be assigned to transport vehicles mainly to/from Europe and/or to the Middle East. On these vessels, WinGD’s X-DF2.0 iCER main engine will be utilized for the first time in the world. This engine consumes less gas and reduces GHG by cutting methane emissions from exhaust gas by approximately 50%. Further, the vessels will be equipped with battery hybrid technology, which will improve fuel efficiency by mitigating main engine and electrical generator load fluctuations through the support of batteries. The use of LNG fuel, together with these new technologies and other developments such as hull modification, will contribute to a reduction of sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions by 99% compared to ships fueled by heavy fuel oil. Likewise, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions will be cut by 96%, and CO2 emissions by approximately 40% or more (per unit of transportation). Concluding this ship-building contract for these four vessels is in line with NYK’s plan to replace current vessels with around 40 newly built LNG-fueled PCTCs over the next decade to achieve NYK’s environment management target, which is to reduce CO2 emissions per ton-kilometer of transport by 50% by

2050. NYK aims to further advance to zero-emission vessels utilizing low-emission marine fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia from around the mid-2030s. On February 3, 2021, NYK announced the NYK Group ESG Story, which aims to further integrate ESG into the company’s management strategy and promotes activities that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) by providing cleaner transportation services, including the introduction of next-generation eco-friendly ships within the PCTC fleet. To strongly promote ESG management, NYK will encourage new value creation as a sustainable solution provider through a business strategy that responds to climate change.

JNPT’s Dry Port near Jalna to be ready by end of 2021: Union Minister Raosaheb Danve NEW DELHI: The Union Minister Raosaheb Danve said the upcoming dr y port near Jalna will be ready by the end of 2021, for which the Centre had already provided Rs 350 crore. The dry port will be a landmark project in the development of Marathwada, he said. “The fencing work around the identified land of the dry port is already over and the construction of internal roads is in progress. The project needs rail connectivity and efforts are on to provide

the same,” he said. Addressing the media, Danve, who represents Jalna Lok Sabha constituency, said the Centre, in the past budgets, had ensured necessary funds. “Even if the latest Union Budget has not made any major allocation for the dry port, the Centre has already ensured sufficient fund flow which will be utilised for the ongoing works,” he said. The BJP leadership at the Centre and the state said the geographically strategic locations of Jalna and Aurangabad for upcoming dry port along with Delhi-

Mumbai Industrial Corridor and Samrudhhi Express Highway would make these cities “growth engines” of Maharashtra in the future. To be built by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), the dry port near Jalna is expected to operate as one of the largest Major Ports of India with an upcoming container handling capacity of almost 10 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU). As announced earlier, JNPT envisaged the need to establish extended logistic facilities in the hinterland to facilitate the overall operations at the port.

Market changes make 2021 impossible to predict, says CEO - SeaIntelligence LONDON: The change has come about not because of the COVID-19 pandemic but rather because of how the carriers responded to it. This is according to Alan Murphy, Founder and CEO of consulting group SeaIntelligence, speaking during the ‘Container Shipping Outlook: Analyzing the Trans-Pacific’ webinar from JOC and IHS Markits. The webinar, held on 4 February 2021, explored the industry’s performance in 2020 and the underlying reasons behind the congestion at US West coast ports. Murphy also said it was almost impossible to predict how capacity will be affected in 2021 because the industry had seen severe fluctuations since the outbreak of the pandemic. Even though volume fell at the start of the pandemic, carriers were able to remain profitable by maintaining high freight rates, which they did so by reducing ser vices, known as blank sailings. This, according to Murphy, showed that carriers had learned their lesson after a decade of oversupply and were willing to pull services to balance supply and demand. They did not respond as if the crisis was a demand problem and reduce freight rates but approached it as if it was an issue of oversupply and cut services instead. This has allowed many of the world’s largest carriers to maintain healthy revenue, even while demand fell, but while blank sailings have continued, the current

phenomenon facing some US ports is rather one of congestion on the US West coast. Demand so high? Since slumping drastically at the end of 2019 and early months of 2020, the container shipping industry has seen a substantial increase in demand as China has resumed exports. This caused volume and container handling move records at some US West Coast ports in November and December 2020 and has also meant congestion as carriers utilise every vessel in their fleets to clear the backlog and meet increasing orders. “Supply on east-west trade lanes far exceeds anything in the last 10 years,” Murphy said. He explained that the rush to transport goods across the Pacific was entirely driven by consumer demand in North America, in particular the US. This in turn is causing the unusual market demand of demand, supply and blank sailings all increasing at the same time. The congestions at US West Coast ports is so great that in some cases vessels are not making it back to Asia in time to collect the next load of cargo and that extra loaders are being used to fill the gap. Blank sailings, usually a sign that supply is falling, are not really blank sailings in this instance, Murphy said. Furthermore, the east-west demand rush is itself being driven by the pandemic, something which is clear in the type of goods transported across the Pacific at the

end of 2020. Between September and November, the most popular goods, Murphy said, are furniture and home equipment and these account for 39% as people become accustomed to work from home on a longterm basis. Other areas, such as toys and electronic machinery saw increases of between 20-40%. However, Murphy also said that it was likely these represented many one- off purchases which will probably not mean demand levels remain as high as they are now. In fact, it is likely that once the pandemic abates and vaccines are rolled out consumer spending will swich from goods to services. This could mean demand in the US returns to normal levels and congestion at the major gateways with China and Asia eases. Murphy went further and said there was no longer any clear connection between “macroeconomic fundamentals or any economic indicators” in the container shipping market and while it was possible to guess, forecasting the future with any accuracy is very difficult. Murphy claimed the market slump in 2020 equated to the same result as five Chinese New Year festivals, the time when factory production in China stops and container volume falls, and some trade lanes fell by 50%. By April 2020, container traffic on the Trans-Pacific had fallen by 13% year-onyear (YoY) but had recovered surprisingly quickly and sharply.

First time, post Covid, Railway freight revenue overtakes last years cumulative figures in same corresponding NEW DELHI: In a heartening new development, first time post Covid, Indian Railway's cumulative Freight Revenue has surged past last year’s levels and stands at Rs 98068.45 crore as compared to Rs 97342.14 to Fy 20-21 in same corresponding. On a month to month basis as well, in first 12 days of February, Railways has overtaken last years freight revenue figures by 5%. On a monthly basis, Railway freight revenue has surged Rs 206 crore ahead in Feb 21 compared to corresponding period Feb last year.

As per the estimates, Railways freight revenue stood at Rs 4571 cr for the first 12 days of Feb as compared to Rs 4365 cr for the same period last FY. Incidentally loading is also ahead by almost 8% as compared to last year same corresponding. Railways has achieved this turnaround due to an extra ordinary set of new initiatives being taken in improving business development, incentives, speed and customisation. It may be noted that Freight loading has been showing higher figures since

August 20 as compared to corresponding period of previous Financial year. This is for the First time post Covid lock down that freight revenue for the month has also been showing higher estimates as compared to last corresponding . Higher Freight revenue for the month is a great signal of an all round economic recovery that is sweeping the country and speaks volumes about the new management initiatives being taken in Railways to boost business and further improve freight operations.

Govt extends Bid Submission deadline for SCI to March 1 NEW DELHI: The government has extended the deadline for submission of preliminary bids to buy Shipping Corp of India to March 1. The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) in December had invited expressions of interest for strategic disinvestment of its entire stake of 63.75 per cent in

Shipping Corp of India, along with the transfer of management. The last date for submitting the bid was February 13. The last date for submission of EoI has been extended to March 1, the DIPAM said in a notice. The Cabinet had in November last year gave in-principle approval for strategic divestment of Shipping Corp

and Container Corp of India Ltd. However, the plans were delayed due to the pandemic. For 2021-22, the government has set a disinvestment target of Rs 1.75 lakh crore, over five times what it is aiming to raise in the current financial year. In the Revised Estimates, the target has been set at Rs 32,000 crore for current fiscal.

(BRICS) summit that New Delhi will host this year are also expected to be discussed. Shringla’s meetings with his Russian interlocutors would send a signal that India’s ties with Moscow are independent of its ties with the US and in India’s national interest, Sibal said. This is against the backdrop of the Joe Biden administration extending a nuclear arms pact with Russia but doubling down on pledges against Moscow following the imprisonment of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny and fresh allegations of hacking by the Russian government. Bilateral investments between India and Russia have touched $30 billion because of investments in oil and gas, but two-way trade has languished at just $10-11 billion, according to Indian government numbers. Analysts like Sibal have maintained that the primary

reasons for stagnant trade is the lack of interest from the Indian private sector, the structure of the Russian e c o n o m y, a n d l a c k o f information on the potential of the two markets. The long routes for trade, with the existing route from Mumbai to the Russian port of St Petersburg on the Baltic Sea coast takes about 40 days, and have only complicated matters, said industry insiders. A shorter route through the Chabahar port is yet to fructify because of the sanctions on Iran. With the Biden administration in place, Container Corporation of India (Concor) and Russian Railways are looking to begin commercial runs by end of February on the International North-South Transport Cor ridor (INSTC)– a 7,200 km-long network of ship, rail and road routes covering 13 countries including India, Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia. Operationalising the ChennaiVladivostok route would supplement the INSTC and trade via this route would take 24-25 days. It was in 2019, that India and Russia announced their intent to connect Chennai and Vladivostok, during a visit to Russia by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Abeygunawardena said a Cabinet subcommittee appointed to examine the deal had proposed new terms. “We entered talks from a favourable position to us, then that company refused to go ahead with our conditions,” Abeygunawardena told Parliament, adding that the Indian company’s refusal forced Sri Lanka to scrap the deal. India, Japan and Sri Lanka had inked an agreement in 2019 on development of the terminal project. “The governments of India, Sri Lanka and Japan had signed a memorandum of cooperation in May 2019 to develop and operate the East

Container Terminal of Colombo Port in a trilateral framework,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said at a media briefing in New Delhi on February 4, three days after Colombo cancelled the deal. “We sincerely believe that the development of infrastructure in Sri Lanka, in areas such as ports and energy, with foreign investment from India and Japan will be a mutually beneficial proposition,” he said. Srivastava said the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo was in talks with the Lankan government on the issue.

CMA CGM Foundation launches its 2021 call for proposals under the theme of “Encouraging Innovation In Youth Education” MARSEILLE: The CMA CGM Foundation, under its President Tanya Saadé Zeenny, is launching its ninth call for proposals, this year with the theme of “Encouraging innovation in youth education.” This year’s theme fits with the Foundation’s new “Education for All” focus, aiming to help children and young people find their place in tomorrow’s world through education. The program has an overall budget of 150,000, which will be used to support non-profit organizations that help children and young people up to the age of 25 in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. The selected projects will show innovation in education, addressing the following themes: • Digital teaching, remote learning and support; • Innovative teaching methods and new digital learning tools; • Preventing children and young people from dropping out of education and becoming socially isolated; • Development of personal skills, self-confidence and selfsufficiency; • `Community-led initiatives promoting engagement among children and young people; • Combating stereotypes when choosing education and career options. Ocean Network Express conducts a Joint Crisis Management Drill for FY2020 SINGAPORE: Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) conducted a joint crisis management drill based on a simulated scenario of ONE's chartered vessel running aground on 09 February 2021. The joint exercise was a success with about 75 participants from ONE's Global Headquarters (GHQ) in Singapore, regional headquarters in London and "K" Line's head office in Japan. The drill involved colleagues executing procedures, reviewing possible responses, and examining emergency measures. Simulated Crisis Scenario Main engine failure on ONE's chartered vessel. The vessel ran aground on the Elbe river after losing control. Due to the impact of grounding, containers collapsed, and a few containers fell overboard which included some hazardous goods. Subsequently, a side hull breach was confirmed, as well as a small amount of oil leakage. The scene of the accident was reported by the media and many photos and videos were posted on social network sites. 1) Upon receiving an initial urgent incident report, a crisis management centre was set up by ONE GHQ to handle first response tasks such as information gathering and to establish communication flow processes among the related parties. 2) ONE assumed a crucial role, together with the ship owner and the ship manager, to control and manage the situation. 3) ONE conscientiously took appropriate measures to mitigate the negative impact to customers as well as the general public, cooperating with "K" Line and related parties. Regular updates were published through media statements and advisories as the situation progressed. Through the simulated drill, ONE's crisis management capability has been strengthened and proven that the

organization is constantly prepared to respond in times of emergency under any circumstance.

Maersk launches a dedicated block train from China to Poland to support delivery of crucial medical equipment Maersk's block train from China to Poland launched to support delivery of crucial medical equipment. WARSAW : A.P. Moller – Maersk’s 41-container-long block train left the Chinese city of Yiwu (Zhejiang province) on its way to the intermodal terminal in Małaszewicze, Poland, on 23rd January 2021, carrying personal protective equipment (PPE) procured by Zarys International Group, a leading Polish medical supplies provider, and commissioned by the Polish Material Reserves Agency. “Medical equipment has never been more needed. In times like these, when increased demand makes equipment and rail capacity difficult to procure, we reached out to Maersk with our important and time-sensitive project, knowing they understand our needs and would have ways to assist us timely and efficiently”, shares Paweł Ossowski, President of the Board of ZARYS. “We are extremely pleased to have been able to arrange this deliver y as promised to our contractor. Without determination and commitment of both sides, It would not have been possible” added Paweł Ciesek, Import Department Coordinator at Zarys. The Material Reserves Agency is a Polish national institution that purchases, stores and distributes strategic reserves. Its supply of medical reserves includes medicines, vaccines, disinfectants, protective clothing and all other medical equipment currently needed in the fight against COVID-19. The protective equipment carried by Maersk’s new block train will ultimately be distributed to medical institutions across the country. “We are always committed to making specific transportation arrangements for our local customers and such an important project required extra dedication.

We are very proud of our teams in Asia and Europe, who moved mountains to make this delivery possible, so we could keep our promise”, shares Justyna Barycza, Customer Experience Manager and Poland Country Representative at Maersk. During 2020, Maersk has arranged a total of 209 tailored intercontinental trains from China to European countries, including Germany, France, Sweden, Poland, Belarus and Russia and has increased its footprint in Turkey and Georgia with first-ever block trains developed for those markets. The company has also expanded its unique sea-rail-sea product (the AE19 service), which became a permanent product in October, after being launched also in the eastbound direction in March 2020, connecting North European origins with several destination ports in Asia. The block train from Yiwu, China arrived to Małaszewicze, Poland on 8th February 2021. The train carries a total of 41 high cube containers.

APM Terminals and Maersk jointly developed VIA improving safety of vessel inspections COPENHAGEN : New Vessel Inspection App facilitates safer vessel inspections and improves collaboration between APM Terminals and shipping lines during port calls Learning from previous incidents, compiling inspection reports and escalating defects is of crucial importance for the Operations teams at APM Terminals. To facilitate this, while focusing on user experience and enabling faster and easier exchange of information, APM Terminals and Maersk jointly developed a Vessel Inspection App, taking a further step towards having a closer collaboration on safety standards. Designing a mobile app with the user in mind means that terminal staff can now conduct vessel inspections using their mobile devices to record critical safety defects, share photos and escalate issues for repair. Once the inspection is complete, the user can download the PDF report and share it with the shipping line or its agent and vessel directly. This new process means that one set of simplified questions is used for all vessel inspections, which creates a standardised way of working across all terminals globally.

Ruth Gallagher, Global Head of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) for A.P. Moller - Maersk explains: "Across APM Terminals, we deploy thousands of people every day to carry out lashing operations on a wide variety of vessels. These people are subject to risks associated with both the operations they undertake, but also with the environment they work in. APM Terminals and Maersk have worked tirelessly throughout 2020 to improve vessel operations and we are proud to be launching this vessel inspection solution that brings people together to solve immediate problems." The deployment of new technology allows both port and vessel operators to have visibility of any environmental issue that could impact the safety of people or the effectiveness of operations both in the moment and in advance of arrival. “Having an additional objective feedback on the condition of the vessels’ cargo area from these inspections is a useful assurance that enables us to better evaluate the risks of our operations and to focus on ensuring a safe work environment for everyone working onboard vessels”, adds Ruth Gallagher. In the future, the new tool will allow other shipping lines and terminal operators to join and create a truly global community, working together to eliminate fatal and lifechanging events associated with vessel alongside operations.

Digital push: Five-year FTP likely to include guidelines to promote e-comm among exporters NEW DELHI : The five-year Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), to be announced on April 1, 2021, is likely to come up with guidelines on e-commerce for exporters to remove regulatory bottlenecks and encourage exporters to use the online platform for increasing business, an official has said. “Through e-commerce, not only can existing exporters reach out to more buyers but producers selling in the domestic market too could explore the option of going global. It can be an efficient platfor m to support the government’s ‘One District One Product’ initiative and also promote export of GI (Geographical Indications) products,” the official tracking the development told. Addressing regulator y problems for overseas e-commerce transactions, including those related to third party payments and clearance of consignments, could be considered, the official said. Payment received through OPGSP (Online Payment Gateway Service Providers) is not an authorised mechanism of receipt of exports payment, and thus, a tie-up with banks becomes necessary, pointed out Ajay Sahai, DirectorGeneral, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). “If the RBI adds them in the option of ‘manner of receipt of payment’ for exports, this issue can be addressed. “This will not only reduce transaction cost for exporters but will give a huge fillip to e-commerce retail exports,” he said. Suggestions made by exporters on the proposed setting up of Cross-border e-Commerce (CBEC) Zones comprising e-commerce market players, third-party payment agencies, logistics providers and other support services like credit insurance and banks, are also being looked at.

“All proposals are under discussion as the government is weighing all options to see what all could be incorporated in the policy. Inputs are being extensively taken from exporters. It may take at least 10 days more to give a final shape to the FTP and the guidelines on e-commerce for exporters,” the official said. E-commerce is being viewed as a good way of promoting the initiative of ‘One District One Product’ under which each district of the country is to be converted into an export hub by identifying products with export potential from that region and addressing bottlenecks, helping producers to scale up and enabling them to find potential buyers outside India. Under the initial phase of the programme, 106 products have been identified from 103 districts across 27 States. Facilitating producers of GI products (a tag used on items that originate from a specific geographic location and have special attributes) to use e-commerce to export their wares is also under consideration of the government, the official said. GI products include items such as Darjeeling tea, Kashmiri Pashmina, Kangra paintings, Santiniketan leather goods, Bhagalpur silk and Blue Pottery of Jaipur. As per UNCTAD estimates for 2018, the world market for e-commerce was $25.6 trillion. About 75,000 exporters from India sent out $1.2 billion worth of goods via the e-commerce channel during 2018-19, according to industry numbers. The view that there is a huge scope for growth, for Indian e-commerce exports, is also supported by the fact that online exports are just a minuscule part of India’s total annual goods export of around $300 billion.

Focus on rail freight corridors and accelerated infra investments NEW DELHI : The Indian logistics industry today is at an inflection point. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown, the logistics sector played a frontline role in maintaining the intactness and continued functioning of domestic supply chains. This ensured an uninterrupted flow of essential goods and services across the geographical expanse of the country without disruptions. Budget 2021 presented by Nirmala Sitharaman has played an enabling role in bolstering the functional competencies of the sector by announcing key industry-friendly proposals. These include asset monetizing the Dedicated Rail Freight Corridor (DRFC) by Indian Railways for operations and maintenance, boosting investments to improve rail and road infrastructure in the country and building new economic corridors. The proposal to monetize the DRFCs in the country touted as the countr y ’s largest infrastr ucture projects has been hailed as a gamechanging initiative. With the commissioning of the Eastern and Wester n Dedicated Rail Freight Corridors in the country by June 2022, it is estimated that around 70% of freight traffic currently plying on passenger lines will be gradually shifted to the freight corridors being developed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL). With an emphasis on the transition in modal mix from road to rail, the vastly

overburdened national road networks will be decongested. Logistics players in the country will be in an enhanced position to leverage the benefits of faster freight transit times and reduced operational costs. This will also help them to improve last-mile delivery timelines with an emphasis on multimodal connectivity and build in buffer time for addressing last minute contingencies. The freight corridors will have a transformative impact on the freight logistics ecosystem in the country. By creating an integrated transport system in the country, it will create a favorable roadmap for Indian Railways to boost their earnings from freight transportation on a sustainable basis. The privatization of assets has the potential to attract increased private sector investment inflows, improve operational efficiencies and service qualities and pave the way for railways to play a pivotal role in facilitating end-toend logistics solutions. By freeing up the network for new and faster passenger trains, it will also allow the railways to earn additional passenger revenue. Wi t h t h e a n n o u n c e m e n t o f a National Asset Monetization pipeline for funding projects, capital outlay of INR 1.18 lakh crore for road transport and highways and extending the INR 111 lakh crore National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) to cover 7,400 projects, accelerated infra spending has been the priority focus area of Budget 2021. Unlocking the value of underutilized

public infrastructure assets will spur the creation of productive assets, lead to allocation and utilization of unlocked resources for balanced economic development and reduce the burden on the national exchequer. A record budgetary allocation for building a robust road and highways network in the country has come as a booster shot for the economy. This will have a multiplier impact on key trade and industry sectors with the potential impact to put the economy on a fast-growth trajectory in the post-pandemic phase. Broadening the scope of the NIP and building new economic corridors will promote inclusive economic growth in the country, bolster investor confidence in the domestic infrastructure sector by ensuring reduced NPAs and increased profitability, and increase revenue for the government. The government has always demonstrated the right intent to boost the growth potential of Indian logistics through the implementation of key policy reforms and interventions. The Budget has ticked all the right boxes in terms of addressing the concerns of the Indian logistics sector. Going ahead, the industry and government will need to collaborate in bolstering the resilience of supply chains, leveraging emerging technologies to become part of globally integrated digital value chains, and lay the foundation of a self-reliant India or ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ firmly positioned to become a USD 5 trillion economy.

Behrouz Aghaei made the remarks and reiterated that transit of goods and

import of basic commodities through Iran’s largest oceanic port showed a 95 and 71 percent growth in the current year respectively. As one of the important ports in the southeast of the country, Chabahar Port has a special place in Iran’s exchanges with other countries in the region due to its strategic location and access to international open waters, he added.

Chabahar port is a linking bridge of regional interactions, he said. He added, “This port is a new hub for the export of various Iranian goods, so that not only these goods enter Chabahar from eastern regions of the country, but also products are exported from northwest and central part of the country through this excellent geographical location.”

PM Narendra Modi lays foundation stone and inaugurates various Maritime based projects in Kochi Works inaugurated cover a wide range of sectors. They will energise the growth trajectory of India: PM KO C H I : T h e P r i m e M i n i s t e r, N a r e n d r a M o d i inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various projects in Kochi Kerala on 14th February 2021. The Governor of Kerala, Chief Minister of Kerala, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Ministers of State Shri Mansukh Mandaviya , Shri V. Muraleedharanwere present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the works inaugurated today cover a wide range of sectors. They will energise the growth trajectory of India. He said that Propylene Derivative Petrochemical Project (PDPP), inaugurated today, will help strengthen India’s journey towards being Aatmanirbhar as it will save foreign exchange. A wide range of industries would gain and employment opportunities would be generated. Similarly, with Ro-Ro Vessels, a distance of almost thirty kilometres on road will become 3.5 kilometers through waterways leading to less congestion and more convenience, commerce and capacity-building.

The Prime Minister asserted that the Government of India is undertaking many efforts to improve tourism related infrastructure in Kerala. The inauguration of Sagarika, the International Cruise Terminal in Kochi is one example of this. Sagarika Cruise Terminal will cater to over a lakh cruise guests. The Prime Minister noted the rise in local tourism due to pandemic related restrictions on international travel. He said this is a great opportunity for added livelihood to those in the local tourism industry and deepening of connection between our culture and our youth. He called

upon start-ups to think about innovative tourism related products. The Prime Minister noted the tourism sector in India has been growing well in the last five years. In the World Tourism Index ranking, India moved from sixty fifth to thirty fourth position, said the Prime Minister. Prime Minister said capacity building and future ready infrastructure are two important factors for national development. Today’s development works of ‘Vigyan Sagar” and reconstruction of the South Coal Berth will contribute to both these factors. Vigyan Sagar, the new knowledge campus of Cochin Shipyard would particularly help those wanting to study marine engineering. South Coal Berth would bring down logistics costs and improve cargo capacities. The Prime Minister emphasized that today, the definition and scope of infrastructure has changed. It is beyond only good roads; development works and connectivity between a few urban centres. Through the National Infrastructure Pipeline, Rupees 110 lakh crore is being invested for infra creation, the Prime Minister informed. Outlining the country’s plan for development of the Blue Economy, Shri Modi said “our vision and work in this sector includes: more ports, improving infrastructure in current ports, ff-shore energy, sustainable coastal development and Coastal connectivity”. Talking about the Pradhan Mantri Matasya SamapadaYojna, the Prime Minister pointed out that it caters to diverse requirements of fishermen communities. It has provisions for ensuring more credit. Fishermen have been linked with Kisan Credit Cards. Similarly, work is underway to make India a hub for sea-food exports.
