While addressing the press conference, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Minister of AYUSH, Government of India, outlined how PPP-led synergies can transform and accelerate the country’s progress. With the majority of global trade carried by sea, ports are critical gateway infrastructure which connect an entire region and its inland transportation network (i.e. road, rails, inland waterways) to the international market. Therefore, public-private partnership at JNPT, will help developing strong, wellfunctioning maritime transport infrastructure is a key element of economic growth for the country. This initiative will become a means to manage port operations more effectively, as well as to develop new port infrastructure, traditionally both exclusively government functions. He highlighted how JNPT has continued to lead India’s Port sector from the forefront through its Export Importcentric initiatives and world-class expertise in swiftly streamlining logistical operations, consequently emerging as a preferred ‘Port of Choice’ for trade. “I am confident that, through consistent tech advances and multimodal infrastructure development, JNPT will continue to navigate India’s port-led prosperity and anchor itself as a mega port by 2030,” Shri Sarbananda Sonowal added. Commenting on the visit of the Union Minister, Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT, said, “Today, we are delighted to have our Honourable Minister with us at JNPT. We have been able to showcase our Port’s achievements and ongoing advances. The Union Minister’s visit provided an opportunity for our Port stakeholders to directly engage with the minister and share their perspectives on India’s growing

maritime sector and how maritime policies under his leadership can contribute to its overall growth. JNPT has been the key driver for India’s maritime sector; with consistent support and encouragement from the Ministry, we will certainly continue our upward g r o w t h t r a j e c t o r y, leveraging India’s export potential and maritime economy.” JNPT officials also briefed the Union Minister about multiple initiatives undertaken by the Port to enhance Ease of Doing Business, including the recently launched ‘Dwarf Container Train’ service and the status of Vadhavan Port and other JNPT-led infrastructure projects. Earlier in the day, Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT, and Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Deputy Chairman, JNPT, welcomed the Union Minister, where he was accorded a guard of honour by the CISF personnel stationed at JNPT. During his day-long visit at the Port, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the ‘Bhumipoojan ceremony’ of the JNPT Port Road Concretization Project at Karal junction and visited JNPT’s state-of-the-art Centralized Parking Plaza to review its tech-enabled operations at the CPP command centre. In addition, he also interacted with container truck drivers, who are an integral part of the maritime supply chain. The Union Minister also reviewed a presentation on terminal operations at the GTI House and boarded a vessel, followed by his visit to JNPT’s multi-product SEZ and Hind Terminal CFS. Also, the Union Minister explored ‘Smart Port Initiatives’ undertaken by BMCTPL and reviewed the progress of its phase two expansion.

Drewry: World Container Index steady last week, still 250% higher than a year ago LONDON: Drewry’s composite World Container index remained steady at $9,192.50 per 40ft container this week. Drewry’s detailed assessment for Thursday, 11 November 2021 • The composite index remained steady this week, but remains 250% higher than a year ago. • The average composite index of the WCI, assessed by Drewry for year-to-date, is $7,335 per 40ft container, which is $4,714 higher than the five-year average of $2,621 per 40ft container. • Drewry’s World Container index composite index remained steady at $9,192.50 per 40ft container, but is 250% higher than the same week in 2020. Freight rates from Rotterdam – New York gained 2% or $132 to reach $6,255 per 40ft box. Spot rates from Los Angeles – Shanghai and Shanghai – Los Angeles grew 1% each to $1,303 and $9,947 per feu respectively. However, rates on Shanghai – Genoa dropped 2% or $255 to reach $12,438 per 40ft container. Rates on Shanghai – Rotterdam, Rotterdam – Shanghai, Shanghai – New York and New York – Rotterdam hovered around

IMO Council sets International Day for Women in Maritime LONDON: The IMO Council, meeting from 8-12 November, decided to establish an International Day for Women in Maritime, to be observed on 18 May every year. Once adopted by the IMO Assembly in December 2021, the observance will celebrate women in the industry, promote the recruitment, retention and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector, raise the profile of women in maritime, strengthen IMO’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime. IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim said: “I welcome the Council’s adoption of this proposal. Not only does it further efforts to achieve SDG 5 on gender equality, but it is a perfect follow-on action to the IMO Assembly’s resolution and call to achieve a barrier-free environment for women, so that all women can participate fully, safely and without hindrance in the activities of the maritime community, including seafaring and shipbuilding.” The proposal to establish an International Day for Women in Maritime was first addressed by IMO’s Technical Cooperation

Committee (TCC) in September 2021 following the momentum of the World Maritime Theme in 2019 “Empowering women in the maritime community.” The proposal received wide support from the Technical Cooperation Committee (TC) in forwarding the proposal to the Council.

CBIC launches online digital application for scheduling of examination of cargo for traders at ICD Tughlakabad, Delhi • ICD Tuglakabad's initiative will improve logistics efciency of industry by launching Customs clearance work on Sundays and all public holidays • Customs at ICD Tuglakabad also inaugurates Baggage Scanner for non-intrusive examination of unaccompanied baggage/palletized import Cargo

NEW DELHI: As a major push in technology and digitalisation, Delhi Customs Zone took three important initiatives. An online facility for scheduling examination of Import cargo with the aim of minimising physical interface of trade with Customs and other stakeholders was launched. It is multi-stakeholder application where Customs, CONCOR, Customs brokers and importers on the same platform having a shared view of scheduling examination of goods. This initiative will ensure fullest transparency alongside of convenience for trade and other stakeholders. Customs at ICD Tuglakabad also inaugurated a Baggage Scanner, which will result in non-intrusive examination of unaccompanied baggage/palletized import Cargo while ensuring swifter clearances. This will also help Customs in targeted intervention to check smuggling. Few days earlier an electronic tracking of containerised cargo through use of Smart locks and an application built on Blockchain technology was launched. This enables customs to monitor and track movement of non-duty paid goods through GPS tracking while reducing compliance burden on trade in ter ms of documentation. In another first, ICD Tuglakabad has taken the initiative of improving the logistics efficiency of industry by launching Customs clearance work on Sunday and all public holidays. This facility at ICD TKD is being implemented w.e.f. 14.11.2021 (Sunday) with work hours between 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. In this

regard, Public Notice No. 34/2021 and Public Notice no. 04/2021 both dated 10.11.2021 has been issued by the Offices of Pr. Commissioner of Customs (Import) and Commissioner of Customs (Export), ICD-Tughlakabad (Import), New Delhi respectively. ICD Tughlakabad (TKD) since 1993, at its present location, was the second Land port to be set up in the country after Bangalore in 1983. It caters to the need of importers and exporters and is the biggest inland dry port of North India. This port handles around 2,50,000 TEUs of Exim Cargo and is well connected with four full length rail lines to Gateway ports such as Mumbai, Nhava Sheva, Chennai, Mundra etc. besides bringing the containers by road from other ports such as Ludhiana, Haldia, Calcutta and Kandla, etc. ICD TKD is equipped with most modern facilities such as rail mounted gantry of 40 metric empty lifting capacity, rubber tire diesel powered cranes, billoties and lift trucks, etc. along with two covered sheds, one for import and another for export with a total area of 16,000 sq. mts. in the Customs bonded area for stuffing and de-stuffing of Exim goods. With these ultramodern facilities, ICD-TKD, New Delhi, has developed into the largest multi-modal centre in the Indian sub-continent.

DCSA launches Ideas Hub to invite input from industry stakeholders Online forum enables all stakeholders to suggest and vote on ideas for DCSA roadmap AMSTERDAM: DCSA today launched its online Ideas Hub, a public forum that gives people with an interest in container shipping the opportunity to suggest and vote for topics they would like DCSA to work on. Collaboration is critical in driving digital transformation and improving customer experience in an industry, as seen in other digitally advanced industries such as banking, telecommunications, and airlines. By inviting active participation from industry stakeholders through the Ideas Hub, DCSA and its carrier members aim to gain valuable insight into market needs that will help shape the DCSA roadmap.

Any visitor to the DCSA website can view all the ideas, associated vote counts and comments in the Ideas Hub, as well as the status of the ideas (e.g., on the roadmap, in development, etc.). Ideas are categorised by themes and relevance to particular stakeholder groups such as BCO / shippers or container shipping lines. Forex reserves decline USD 1.14 bn to USD 640.8 bn MUMBAI: India's forex reserves decreased by USD 1.145 billion to USD 640.874 billion for the week ended on November 5 on a fall in currency and gold assets, the Reserve Bank said. The overall reserves had increased by USD 1.919 billion to USD 642.019 billion for the previous reporting week. Foreign currency assets, a major part of the overall

reserves, decreased by USD 881 million to USD 577.581 billion for the reporting week, the RBI said in the weekly data. alue of the gold reserves decreased by USD 234 million to USD 38.778 billion in the reporting week, the data showed. The country's reserve position with the IMF decreased by USD 14 million to USD 5.228 billion in the reporting week, the data showed.

Global Supply chains should not only be based only on cost but also on trust – Piyush Goyal NEW DELHI: The Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal said that COVID-19 highlighted that supply chains should not only be based on cost but also on tr ust. He opined that ensuring transparent, trustworthy and resilient supply chains is at the core of trade revival and added that India emerged as a source of resilience and a trusted partner during COVID-19. He was delivering the “Keynote Address at Bank of America's flagship Virtual Conference on the topic “Shifting supply chains globally: Could Make in India see success?”, from New Delhi today. The Minister said that supply and demand disruption brought on by the COVID -19 pandemic have forced manufacturers everywhere to reassess their supply chains. He added that India demonstrated its capacity and capability to the entire world by not only meeting all our international service commitments but also by becoming self-sufficient in production of critical medical supplies (PPEs, testing, masks).

Referring to India’s Pharmaceutical industry, Shri Piyush Goyal said that we are widely recognised as the “Pharmacy of the world” for providing medicines and vaccines to most countries in the world. Speaking of India’s success in implementing the largest vaccination drive in the world, the Minister said that with a plan to manufacture 5 billion doses of vaccine next year, India was aspiring to serve and secure all of the humanity. Pointing towards the rising economic indicators, Shri Goyal said that India is back in action and the decade is shaping up to be a growth decade, with our exports surging and FDI in-flows and investments following a high growth trajectory. He said that trade must grow in a mutually beneficial and collaborative way. It may be noted that our Merchandise exports in Apr-Oct 2021 was $ 232 bn (+54% over Apr-Oct 20 & +25% over AprOct 19) and total FDI during the first 4 months of FY 21-22 is 62% more than that of the same period in FY 20-21. India now has 71 unicorns of which 67 were added since 2015. Shri Goyal said that the Naukri Job speak Index for Oct' 2021 reports a 43%

growth in employment over the same month last year and manufacturing PMI rose to 55.9 in October and service PMI reached a decade high of 58.4 in October. He opined that India has gained trust of global investors, with its investor friendly policies, removal of redundant laws and approvals through single window. Underscoring India’s strengths as a supply chain alternative, the Minister said that India has a diverse business landscape, skilled workforce and relatively low labour cost. He spoke of India’s ambitious National Infrastructure Pipeline project and said that the new PM GatiShakti Master Plan would lend new life to India’s infrastructure planning and eventually help in reducing logistics cost to 5%. He stressed that global sentiments are changing from ‘Why India’ to ‘Why not India’ to now “Make in India for the world’ and serving the world from India. “India’s time has come”, he added. He invited the world to ‘Come to India, Invest in India and Make in India, for the world’, and be a part of a large ecosystem of resilient supply chains.

OECD dismisses 3D printing trade threat PARIS: A High-level OECD report on 3D printing technologies has concluded that it is premature to suggest that 3D printing technology will ‘replace’ trade, dispelling the hyped warning of the same over the past few years. 3D printing technologies have caught the eye of the international shipping community for their potential to disrupt global trade. The vocalised fear is that exchanging files for local printing will reduce the need for cross-ocean trade in physical goods. However, an OECD Trade Po l i c y Pa p e r o n 3 D p r i n t i n g a n d international trade: what is the evidence to date? has found that the opposite is true. It concludes that In real terms, report authors Andrea Andrenelli and Javier Lopez Gonzalez calculated that on average, an increase of around $14,000 in imports of 3D printers is associated with a $3.3 million increase in the value of exports of 3D printable goods. Similar dynamics are found for imports of 3D printable goods. “Overall, this implies that the wider adoption of the technology has, at present, limited implications for the ongoing debate on the renewal of the WTO Moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions as it is unlikely to result in loss of goods trade and traditional tariff revenue,” the report finds. Positive outcomes 3D printing offers a “versatile technology offering new opportunities for firms to increase productivity and product scope across a range of specific tasks and

sectors, from parts and components in the aerospace industry to architecture, healthcare and food”, according to the OECD report. Particularly attractive are the cost savings related to the production of complex designs as well as materially simple objects. Benefits also include wide scope for customisation and suitability for prototyping, in addition to strengthening supply and value chain resilience through cost and time efficient stocking of spart part inventories. Andrenelli and Gonzalez note that there are measurement issues, however, and it is currently difficult to accurate calculate digital trade. “Comprehensive, internationally comparable, and publicly available statistics on the use or adoption of 3D printing remain unavailable, and the world of CAD design files crossing borders for 3D printing remains uncharted,” they said. That said, the report has used proxy measures to provide insights on adoption and use of 3D printing technology. These measures suggest that the international adoption of 3D printing is growing and that trade in high-tech 3D printable goods, including aircraft parts, dental implants, hearing aids, medications, and some machine parts, and trade in open source 3D printable items that can be homeprinted, has generally grown at the same pace as total trade. In fact, 3D printed trade in orthopaedic appliances, such as hearing aids and dental implants, has grown almost twice as fast as total trade

since 2007. This includes through positive impacts on trade in materials necessary for 3D printing, such as polymers and metals, and in-design services. Andrenelli and Gonzalez advise policymakers to think about 3D printing as a “productivity enhancing technology”, with the caveat that monitoring progress of adoption will need to be improved to understand the long-term consequences on trade flows. Tariff concerns One wrinkle of 3D printing considered by the OECD is the impact a rise in take-up of local 3D printing options will have on many developing countries, where import duties or tariffs on physical goods are an important source of government revenue. “If 3D printing puts an end to – or a severe dent in –international trade in goods, then the technology may affect their capacity to collect fiscal revenue,” said the report. But the findings of the report dismiss that concern, flipping the 3D printing phenomenon to a positive, rather than a possible negative, for developing countries. “The evidence suggests that, to date, there appears to be no trade-off between 3D printing – and the associated electronic transmissions – and regular trade in goods, meaning that there are no compelling reasons to be concerned about tariff revenue losses as a result of wider adoption of the technology,” the report concluded.

India continues to have smaller share in International Shipping sector: Report NEW DELHI: India, despite having a large coastline, growing domestic market and international seaborne trade, deeprooted maritime traditions and skilled seafarers, continues to have a smaller share in the international shipping sector, according to a report submitted to IFSCA. It is thus becoming a net importer of shipping services especially ship finance, the report of the Committee for D e v e l o p m e n t o f Av e n u e s f o r S h i p Acquisition, Financing and Leasing from GIFT IFSC. The panel was constituted by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) in June and submitted its report on October 28, the Gandhinagarbased regulator said in a statement. IFSCA, established in April last year, is a unified authority for the development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in the international financial services centre (IFSC) in India. Currently, GIFT IFSC is the maiden IFSC in India. T h e p a n e l h e a d e d b y Va n d a n a Aggar wal carried out a 360-degree

examination of the existing legal and regulatory regime in IFSC in India for ship acquisition, financing and leasing, comparing it with those of the global topranking marine hubs. It developed financial models to gauge the gap in costs, including capital and operating costs and tax costs, of doing this business in IFSC and these hubs, said the statement adding that it has identified bottlenecks to the realisation of India's shipping sector's growth story. It held extensive stakeholder consultations towards working out the changes required for seeding the robust ship acquisition, financing and leasing (SAFAL) regime at India-IFSC. To this end, it also holistically considered the supportive links of shipbuilding, flagging, operating, and repairs and recycling in the shipping value chain, it said. The focus remained on enabling costeffective and competitive delivery of shipping services on ships owned and leased from India-offshore IFSC which is on par with overseas competitors, it added.

"The Report provides useful recommendations for realising the true transformational potential of India's shipping industry. It finds that the time is opportune for imparting a brand value to Indian-flagged vessels," it said. This can be done by carving out a share in global cross trades, securing gainful transactions for India's marketplace, promoting de-carbonisation and greening of the blue oceans, and leveraging IndiaIFSC Maritime for achieving the Maritime India Vision 2030 and beyond, it said. Essentially, it said, the committee has found that the concept of IFSC, conceived for financial services, should be naturally extended to SAFAL products and services, including ancillaries. This may entail notifying vessel leasing or operating lease of any equipment as a 'financial product' to enable ship leasing entities to set up a unit in IFSC, the report said. Direct and indirect tax changes have been proposed based on the competitive gaps identified through the financial models developed for India-IFSC, it added.

Rice exports may slow down from December but prospects look good NEW DELHI: Though rice exports are expected to slow down from December with the arrivals of kharif peaking and buyers adopting a “wait and watch” attitude, prospects for Indian rice exports continue to be good. Projections of a record kharif rice production are likely to help in India continuing to be competitive in the export market, according to exporters. The slow down in exports will also be due to buyers wanting to be clear about the price trend before they pick up from January. “India will continue to dominate the rice export market as we have a good har vest round the corner. We were catering to niche buyers earlier, but now we have begun to dominate the market and this will continue. Demand for exports is good,” said an export-import official of a New Delhi-based multinational firm, without wishing to be identified. Going towards Red Sea “The export trend for Indian rice is good. Most of the shipments are headed towards the Red Sea. Mainly, they are headed to Djibouti,” said Vidya Sagar VR, Director, Bulk Logix. From Djibouti, the rice consignments head to interior African countries such as Ethiopia. According to the Agricultural and P r o c e s s e d Fo o d P r o d u c t s E x p o r t D e v e l o p m e n t Au t h o r i t y ( A P E DA ) ,

non-basmati rice exports, during the first half of the current fiscal, increased by about 75 per cent to 8.91 million tonnes (mt), valued at Rs. 21,852 crore from 5.08 mt valued at Rs. 11,765 crore during the same period a year ago. Bangladesh is the top importer of Indian rice, buying 1.25 mt during the period, followed by Benin and China, which imported 0.685 mt and 0.675 mt respectively. Exports to Bangladesh and China have already exceeded the total shipments made during the entire 2020-21 fiscal. Abundant supplies According to the US Department of Agriculture, Indian rice exports are projected to be higher at 18 mt this year against earlier estimates of 17.5 mt. It will be lower than 20 mt shipped out last year. India has abundant rice and supplies are priced low, the agency said. The USDA, h o w e v e r, h a s p e g g e d I n d i a ’ s r i c e production for 2021-22 at a record 125 mt against 122 mt in 2020-21. According to the Ministry of Agriculture’s first advance estimate of the kharif crop this season (July 2021-June 2022), rice production will likely be a record 107.04 mt, compared with 104.41 mt. Last season, rice production has been estimated at 122.27 mt, against 118.87 mt the previous one.

“Since our production is set to be over 100 mt, buyers will wait to see how the prices behave. Also, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) will be in the market to procure supplies for the Central pool,” said BV Krishna Rao, President, The Rice Exporters Association (TREA). FCI procures nearly 70 per cent of the paddy crop that arrives across various markets in the country. Shipments consistent to China Rice exports to China were consistent, though shipments to Bangladesh had slowed, said Sagar. Rao said China continued to buy from India and from December onwards more brokens will be available for Beijing to import from here. China has preferred to buy more broken rice, which has made up over 90 per cent of total imports, from India. “Brokens will be in huge demand after December, especially from China,” said the export-import official. The other issue with shipments to China is that it is buying rice in containers than in bulk like the African nations. Countries in North and West Africa are buying from India, with Benin leading in the purchases. Last fiscal, it bought 1.2 mt of rice from India and the year before it purchased 0.54 mt – more than any nation from the continent.

MSC invests to Ease Supply Chain “Crunch” for Customers, CEO tells FT Summit Cont’d. from Pg. 3 MSC has increased its ocean fleet capacity by 22% since 2019, as well as adding 11 new mainline trade ser vices and expanding its rail offering, in response to a crisis that has propelled logistics to the top of the boardroom agenda in many international companies. “What’s most important for our customer is that they don’t miss their sales, that they have product on the shelf and less so about what should the cost be of container from one continent to another,” Soren said, speaking in a keynote session at the Financial Times digital Global Trade Secrets Summit on 11 November. “Logistics is featuring more prominently on the executive floors of our customers.” Origins of the “Crunch” Soren traced the current supply chain disruption to the demand slump at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent sudden rebound in Trans-pacific trade. He pointed out that back in the second half of 2020, MSC saw approximately the same demand from clients as the company would normally receive in a whole year and highlighted the surge in U.S. consumer goods imports as a key contributing factor to the current supply chain malaise. Presenting a selection of MSC’s fleet statistics, Soren showed the audience of senior representatives of organisations from business, finance and public policy how the COVID “crunch” has created a huge strain on container carriers and impacted their operations. For example, MSC has typically injected an extra ship for each round-trip service to accommodate not only the increase in demand for trade in goods, but the inefficiency of carrying cargo between congested ports. Due to the blockages, MSC vessels are tending to queue for longer outside ports before they can access a berth. In fact, the average waiting time for a port call has increased by 59% in the first nine months of this year, compared with the same period in 2019, and the MSC fleet has lost an additional 5,565 days stuck at anchor in the same period.

U.S. infrastructure Investing in port infrastructure, including through terminal automation, and improving landside networks is key to resolving supply chain difficulties in the U.S., Soren concluded, as carriers cannot simply keep sending more ships to the same ports. This is especially true when trucks are arriving infrequently to pick up the boxes from the terminal. “LA-Long Beach has been overwhelmed by the current volume,” he said. “We need to have more picksups of containers from the terminals, we need to have more people doing the trucking and we need to have more workers in the warehouses. That will gradually resolve the issue.” Soren added that while the initial surge in goods in 2020 was driven by the American consumer, and while Long Beach is one of the key choke points today, the supply chain “Crunch” is a truly worldwide phenomenon, spanning not only the U.S., but also E u r o p e , A s i a a n d b e y o n d . Wi t h g l o b a l t r a d e forecasted to grow 5.9 percent this year and 4.9 percent in 2022, the “crunch” is expected to continue for a while yet. “We believe demand will continue into next year, so we will most likely have to continue to deal with these supply chain issues in some shape or form into the foreseeable future,” he said. “We are in the midst of an unprecedented supply chain crunch not seen for a long time.”

Hapag-Lloyd achieves extraordinary strong result in rst nine months of 2021 • Nine-month result signicantly higher than prior-year period • Much higher freight rates thanks to persistent excess demand • Higher transport volume despite operational challenges HAMBURG: Hapag-Lloyd has concluded the first nine months of 2021 with an EBITDA of USD 8.2 billion (EUR 6.8 billion). The EBIT was also much higher than in the prioryear period, at USD 6.9 billion (EUR 5.8 billion). At the same time, the Group profit improved to USD 6.7 billion (EUR 5.6 billion). Revenues rose in the first nine months of 2021 by approximately 70 percent, to USD 17.9 billion (EUR 15.0 billion). The rise can primarily be attributed to a higher average freight rate of 1,818 USD/TEU (9M 2020: 1,097 USD/TEU). This significant increase is mainly the result of persistently high demand for container transports with scarce capacities at the same time. In addition, transport volumes were up to 8,980 TTEU and thereby 3 percent higher than the comparable figure for the previous year. Transport expenses climbed 16 percent in the ninemonth period, to USD 8.9 billion (EUR 7.4 billion). This was due in part to higher costs for container handling and an increased average bunker consumption price, which stood at USD 452 per tonne in the first nine months (9M 2020: 402

USD per tonne). “Despite all the operational challenges, we achieved an extraordinary strong nine-month result. However, global supply chains are under enormous pressure, which further intensified during the peak season in the third quarter. This unfortunately also creates additional operational burdens for carriers, ports and terminals – but, most importantly, for customers worldwide. We will do everything in our power to help with suitable offers and to do our part to resolve the situation through targeted investments and flexible capacity management,” said Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of HapagLloyd. Looking ahead, Hapag-Lloyd expects that earnings momentum will also remain at a high level for the rest of the year. The earnings forecast for the entire year was accordingly adjusted upwards on 29 October: For the 2021 financial year, an EBITDA in the range of EUR 10.1 to 10.9 billion (previously: EUR 7.6 to 9.3 billion) and an EBIT in the range of EUR 8.7 to 9.5 billion (previously: EUR 6.2 to 7.9 billion) are now expected.
