Consignees are requested to obtain the Delivery Orders on presentation of duly endorsed Original Bills of Lading and on payment of applicable charges within the free time to avoid detention charges being levied. Consignees are requested to note that all FCL containers will be moved enbloc from the terminal to the nominated NEW MAERSK CFS (ANNEX CFS) from where the delivery will be effected. Separate IGM will be lodged with respective ICD's, Mumbai Customs for ICD's and Mumbai Port Delivery. Carrier or its agents will not be responsible for any delay in CY-CFS movement due to port congestion. Consignees are also requested to note that carrier and / or their agents are not bound to send individual Cargo Arrival Notice (CAN) regarding the arrival of the vessel or goods. Incase of Perishable goods, if not cleared within 72 hours the cargo may be listed for auction at the sole discretion of the Customs Authorities, with all costs, risks and responsibility on the consignee. As per Indian Customs Regulations any / all containers / lying uncleared for more than 30 days are listed for the auction under Sec. 48 of Indian Customs Act 1962 under notice to Consignee by the Custodian, as per address stated in their respective Bill of Lading. The same will be auctioned or destuffed without any further information / notice to the consignee. New Shipping Service between Kolkata Port & Chattogram begins KOLKATA: In a significant stride to augment IndoBangla trade, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP), erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust, recently started a new service between Kolkata Dock System (KDS) and Chattogram through Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route. In its maiden voyage, the vessel 'M.V Asiatic Moon' (Singapore Flag) is carrying 300 containers of Indian exports to Bangladesh. The primary goods that are being
exported are ferro metal alloys and garments. This is the biggest vessel by size to ply between Kolkata and Chattogram till date. The vessel can car r y up to 600 containers in a single voyage to Chattogram. The new regular service connection between KDS and Chattogram will be managed by Zim Integrated Services in association with Bengal Tiger Lines. Cont’d. Pg. 15

Essar Ports eyes V shaped recovery, economic recovery boost cargo handling in Q1 to 11.23 MT •June ’20 cargo grows by 75% compared to April ’20 •Green shoots of recovery post lockdown on account of pickup in activity in Steel, Power and Mining sectors MUMBAI : Between March and May this year, the longest lockdown of the world was imposed across India to check the spread of COVID -19. Business operations came to a halt and all industries were affected. In the first quarter of FY2020-21, businesses have been on the move to optimize, reinvent and remain relevant so they could return to old performance levels. “Essar Ports takes pride in manifesting the honourable PM’s dream of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. In June 2020, Unlock#1 was unleashed across the country, and the economy immediately started displaying green shoots of recovery. Our terminals, which remained operational despite challenges faced through the successive phases of the lockdown, have clocked an impressive cargo handling of 11.23 MT. We are well placed and prepared to ensure the

At Essar Ports, there was a dip in cargo handling in April 2020 on account of dwindling production of its key customers—mainly power and steel companies. However, during Q1 FY21, which is the quarter ending 30 June 2020, Essar Ports recorded an impressive cargo handling of 11.23 million tonnes (MT), with June 2020 cargo growing by 75% compared to the April tonnage. APM Terminal Pipavav sets new standards in cargo handling during lockdown PIPAVAV: APM Terminals Pipavav ensured smooth operations much to the satisfaction of all its stakeholders, during the lockdown that came into effect on March 24th, 2020. APM Terminals Pipavav, being engaged in providing essential services, has remained operational even during the strict nationwide lockdown. The port successfully handled more than 622 container trains. The port handled 186000 TEUs and out of which 110000 TEUs were transported by trains. The port also handled Dry Bulk shipments of 0.41 Mn MT and 0.21 Mn MT Liquid from April to June 2020 without any delay. The port created additional yard space and worked with extended logistics partners to ensure smooth flow of goods and addressed many emergent supply chains needs from the customers. One of the key highlights during this period was handling 293 trains in April 2020 alone, marking the highest number of trains ever handled at the port in a single month. Additionally, a new benchmark was also set in the area of safety with the completion of 500 days of safe operations with zero fatality and Lost Time Incidents (LTI) in May 2020. With the business continuity plan in place, APM Terminals Pipavav continued to operate within normal parameters without any significant disruption despite limited manpower. The port safeguarded safety of its employees by strictly following the safety measures like providing PPE kits, sanitising the work place, following social distancing during commute and at operation, etc. The pilots & marine team have ensured seamless safe operations despite being the first point of contact with the ship's crew.
According to Mr. Jakob Friis Sorenson, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav, “The past months have been a testing time for us at the port, but I am pleased to say that we have sailed through the challenging winds and were operational 24/7. The smooth operations would not have been possible without the support from our external stake holders such as Customs, Railways, Container Train Operators, transporters & Container Freight Stations. We are grateful to our customers for their trust in our operations.” During these challenging times, the company took immediate and proactive measures to ensure safety as well as continued services. The port adopted standard crisis protocol at both the international and local levels as per the various relevant guidelines of Government. of India, Government of Gujarat and other statutory bodies & administration. In addition to providing a safe working environment for its colleagues and stakeholders, the Port also reached out to communities in and around the Port to provide necessary support to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

about by the issues faced at the overland routes through Petrapole. "This is an additional connection over and above the existing vessels, increasing the capacity of serving this trade lane through the sea route," a senior official of SMP said. Vinit Kumar, Chairman, SMP, Kolkata said another
similar service too is scheduled to start from Kolkata Dock to Chattogram. The vessel M.V Xpress Godavari operated by Xpress Feeders shall commence the voyage to Chattogram Port in the second week of July. Kumar along with S Balaji Arunkumar, Deputy Chairman of SMP inaugurated the service.
Major Ports volumes at 49 mt in June, 8% rise month-on-month MUMBAI: Volumes handled at major ports in the country in June climbed from a month earlier even after the clearing of consignments imported
from China was delayed, according to a report by IDFC Securities. Major Indian ports recorded volumes of 49 mt in June, an 8% increase
month-on-month (12% if adjusted for number of days) and a decline of 14% year-on-year. Volumes fell 21% in April and 23% in May from a year earlier.
Govt not considering merger of CBDT, CBIC: Finance Minister NEW DELHI: The Government is not considering any proposal to merge the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), the Finance Ministry said recently. The said merger was one of the r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s o f t h e Ta x Administration Reforms Commission (TARC), headed by Parthasarathi Shome, which submitted its report in 2016. Reacting to a media report which suggested that a merger of policy making bodies of direct and indirect taxes CBDT and CBIC is on cards, the ministry in a statement said, The government has no proposal to merge the two Boards created under the Central Boards of Revenue Act,
1963. The ministry said that the report of TARC was examined in detail by the government and this recommendation of TA R C w a s n o t a c c e p t e d b y t h e government. “As a part on an assurance made by the government in Parliament in response to a Parliament question, the government has also placed this fact in 2018 before the Committee on Government Assurances. The action taken report on the recommendations of the TARC is placed even on the website of Department of Revenue, which clearly shows that this recommendation was not accepted,” it added. The Tax Administration Reforms Commission (TARC) was constituted with
a view to review the application of tax Policies and Laws in context of global best practices and recommend measure for reforms required in Tax Administration to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency. T A R C h a d m a d e 385 recommendations out of which 291 recommendations are relating to CBDT and 253 to CBIC. The ministry further said it is in the process of implementation of a number of taxpayers’ friendly reforms like transition from manual assessment based on territorial jurisdiction to a completely randomized electronic faceless assessment, electronic verification or transactions and faceless appeals.
Chinese imports worth $12 billion under Government lens; Customs duty may be hiked NEW DELHI: As India considers steps to curtail cheap and substandard imports from China, it is set to start with raising basic customs duties on dozens of products. This would be followed up with non-tariff measures, such as standard specifications for hundreds of items, in the medium term, sources said recently. Though the move is not patently China-specific and will apply to imports of the specified items from any country, the brunt of the decisions will be borne by China. The government is considering a list of 1,173 items — ranging from auto parts, compressors for AC and refrigerators to select steel and aluminium products and electrical machinery — to zero in on products/ sub-products on which the import duties can be hiked. These items are
mostly imported from China and can be substituted with local production without much hassles, one of the sources said. Imports of these 1,173 items from China were worth $11.98 billion in FY19, making up for just 2.3% of India’s total imports that year but 17% of New Delhi’s purchases from Beijing. However, imports of only 47 of these products/sub-products from China were worth over $50 million each in FY19, totalling $5.82 billion. The idea is not just to punish China for its latest border misadventures but also boost local output and substitute imports, in sync with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for Aatmanirbhar Bharat. While any such duty hike is unlikely to be Beijingspecific, the move will hurt China the most, as it is the biggest supplier of such cheap
and low-grade products to India. Nevertheless, analysts have questioned the efficacy of any such duty hikes, saying that targeting mostly small products will hardly yield anything. Beijing can always raise subsidies on these items, which can blunt the Indian tariff hike. However, an official source argued that “every great journey starts with a single step” and Beijing must know that “its action carries a cost”. “Not taking any retaliatory step will only embolden China. We are not saying any one of these moves will hit China hard. For this to happen, a comprehensive strategy will have to be devised, and it’s being devised to substitute imports, wherever possible,” the source said.
GIFT SEZ provides approval to 28 entities GANDHINAGAR: Around 28 entities bagged approval for setting up units in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City)'s SEZ virtually, as part of a new approval process was created for unit approval in special economic zone (SEZ) in time of Covid-19. GIFT city, which is located between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, has been touted as the template for all the other Smart Cities announced by the government. The Development Commissioner of GIFT SEZ along with GIFT SEZ authorities met up with all the members
of unit approval committee via teleconference. All the application documents and the details were submitted online by the units, with the entire agenda prepared and circulated online to all the committee members. The expected employment generation by these entities in 2-3 years time is around 2000 jobs, a statement from GIFT SEZ confirmed. To facilitate single window clearance, the government established the International Financial Services Centres Authority to regulate all financial services in International Financial Ser vices
Centres (IFSCs) in Gandhinagar. Currently, banking, capital markets and insurance sectors in IFSC are regulated by multiple regulators -- the RBI, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), and Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The central government through a notification appointed April 27, 2020 as the date of the establishment of the International Financial Services Centres Authority and the head office of that authority should be at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Allcargo Logistics partners with Tamil Nadu based Foundation to provide essential supplies to communities affected by COVID-19 The RAHAT project was initiated to reach out to over 750 members in Chennai’s rural villages MUMBAI: Avashya Foundation, the CSR arm of Allcargo Logistics, one of India’s largest integrated logistics s e r v i c e s p r o v i d e r, p a r t n e r e d w i t h Foundation of His Sacred Majesty (FHSM) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Together the activity was executed to reach out to 250 underprivileged families comprising over 750 members affected by the covid-19 induced lockdown. Grocery kits comprising rice, dal, sugar, salt and other essentials like vegetables were distributed to marginalized communities and families residing in slums as part of the RAHAT project. The 250 families belonged to the socially and economically backward communities in Molachur village in TindivanamTaluk, NarikuravrKudiiruppu in Sunammeduvillag and Chengalpattu district along with families of the other communities living near Jamaat of Mount Road Chennai in Tamil Nadu. “The marginalized sections of the population have been the most vulnerable to covid-19 which has been unrelenting in its spread and scale. The adverse economic impact of the pandemic holds the potential the push a large number of families into a spiral of debt and poverty. As socially responsible members of the
society, we need to reach out to the economically disadvantaged communities and help them return to a life of dignity and nor malcy,” stated Mrs Arathi Shetty, Non-Executive Director, Avashya Foundation, Avashya Fo u n d a t i o n , C S R arm of Allcargo Logistics. “Most of the beneficiaries included disabled persons, pregnant women, widows, elderly and children. DCSA Publishes Standards for Digital Exchange of Operational Vessel Schedules AMSTERDAM: The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA), a neutral, nonprofit group established to further digitalisation of container shipping technology standards, in conjunction with its nine member carriers, today published standards for the exchange of operational vessel schedules (OVS). The standards can be implemented by vessel operators, as well as their Vessel Sharing Agreement (VSA) partners and operational service providers, to enable automatic sharing of schedule information. This is one of many initiatives to b e put forth by DCSA to acce lerate digitalisation through a unified industry effort. The DCSA Standard for Operational Vessel Schedules can be freely downloaded from the DCSA website. With the new standards in place, carriers can digitally publish their schedules, and their partners and operational service providers can subscribe to the carrier’s feed to automatically receive updates, or retrieve updates as needed. This will provide complete vessel schedule transparency, increasing efficiency and enabling better planning and
optimisation of shipping activities. The DCSA OVS standard publication comprises a set of documents: • the DCSA Industry Blueprint 2.0 with OVS schedule definitions and an updated glossary of terms • the DCSA Information Model 2.0 • DCSA Data Interface Standards for OVS 1.0 and associated Reading Guides In addition to these documents, DCSA has published OVS API definitions on the SwaggerHub open source API development platform, where future enhancements will also be published. J M Baxi Group launches Project Sahyog initiative MUMBAI: In the wake of the unprecedented pandemic caused by COVID -19, it became imperative that we all come together and help the needy section of our society, so that they can have access to necessities of life and survive through the pandemic. With a small but committed idea of helping the needy section of the society, J M Baxi Group Employees launched an initiative named “Project Sahyog” on 14th May 2020 guided by one underlying principle that all the contributions should reach the final destination and be delivered directly to the sections of the society that need the most help. The initiative received an overwhelming response and approximately 500 J M BAXI GROUP employees came forward from all over India and extended
help (in the forms of monetary, kind and encouraging words) to the target group ranging from migrant workers, senior citizens living in old age homes, street children, tribals’, underprivileged women, CORONA warriors, leprosy patients, orphans, destitute women and many more. With support from all, Project Sahyog Team distributed around 2,000 Grocery Kits, 1,000 Hygiene Kits & 100 plus PPE Kits with the contributions received from J M BAXI GROUP employees. Helping one person might not change the world, But it could change the world for one person. ! And we were able to change for many even if for a short while J M Baxi Group expresses deepest gratitude towards all the contributors for their contribution to this noble cause.
