The Food Corporation of India (FCI), the nodal agency for food grain procurement and distribution has procured around 20.744 million tons of rice as of February 16, 2015 in KMS 2014-15 (October 2014 - September 2015), according to data by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.The government of India also fixed rice procurement target for KMS 2014-15 at about 35.109 million tons rice, which include 30.050 million tons of kharif crop (main crop) and about 5.059 million tons rice for rabi crop (second crop).Main rice growing Indian states, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha has procured about 1.474 million tons, 1 million tons, 1 million tons, 0.915 million tons, and about 0.670 million tons, respectively, so far in KMS 2014-15.The Indian government procured about 31.839 million tons of rice during the KMS 2013-14, according to the ministry.

The U.S. cash market was firmer today continuing its rally from last week on the heels of new and welcomed demand from Colombia.Trading was thin in the Mid-South as buy interest remains very limited and sellers are waiting for prices to firm; however, trading came to a standstill in Louisiana due to the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Celebration.

Vietnam exported about 271,995 tons of rice from January 1 to February 12, 2015, down about 57% from about 637,756 million tons of rice exported in in first two months of 2014, according to data from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA). Average rice export price so far in this year

Average export prices in so far in February stands at about $454 per ton, up about 2% from a year ago, and up about 1% per ton from a month ago.
European Paddy, Rice Quotes Mostly Stable in Early February Feb 17, 2015
European Union paddy quotes in the week February 3 - February 10 were mostly steady; there were some price movements in Romania, both for paddy and milled rice. Meanwhile milled rice quotes became available after a week with no quotations.SPAIN - Japonica paddy was unchanged at 300 euros (about $342) per ton. Indica did not move from 267 euros (about $ 304) per ton. Milled Japonica rice quotes are firm at 561 euros (about $ 640). PORTUGAL - Long A paddy quotations were fixed at 311 euros (about $ 354) per ton on February 10, just slightly higher than the week prior when they were 308 euros (about $ 351) per ton. Long B paddy quotes are increasing at 290 euros (about $ 330) per ton from 287 euros (about $ 327) per ton of February 3. No quotations are available for milled rice. GREECE –Medium and Indica paddy received no quotations. Long grain paddy is firm at 300 euros (about $ 342) per ton. No quotations are available for milled rice. ROMANIA Japonica paddy prices decreased to 304 euros (about $ 346) per ton on February 10, down 21 euros (about $ 23) from 325 euros (about $ 370) per ton on February 3. Indica paddy quotes reduced as well, to 304 euros (about $ 421) per ton on February 10 starting from 302 euros (about $ 344) per ton on February 3. As for milled rice, Japonica quotes increased, reaching 685 euros (about $ 781) per ton on February 10, from 681 euros (about $ 777) per ton on February 3. Indica milled rice went up to 660 euros (about $ 753) on February 10, from 624 euros (about $ 712) on February 3. BULGARIA - Japonica paddy quotations remain firm at 276 euros (about $ 315) per ton. Japonica milled rice prices remained unchanged on March 11 and March 18 at 814 euros (about $ 929) per ton. FRANCE - No quotations are available for paddy varieties; as for milled rice, it received no quotations on February 3; on February 10 round milled rice was quoted 540 euros (about $ 616) per ton, Long A 640 euros (about $ 730) per ton, and Long B 530 euros (about $ 604) per ton. 6

India rice sellers lowered their quotes for 100% broken rice by about $5 per ton to about $280 $290 per ton today. Thailand and Pakistan rice sellers kept their quotes mostly unchanged. Vietnam rice sellers are out today due to national holiday. 5% Broken Rice Thailand 5% rice is quoted at around $405 - $415 per ton, about $50 per ton premium on Vietnam 5% rice last shown at around $355 - $365 per ton. India 5% rice is quoted at around $390 - $400 per ton, about $45 per ton premium on Pakistan 5% rice quoted at around $345 - $355 per ton. 25% Broken Rice Thailand 25% rice is quoted at around $365 - $375 per ton, about $40 per ton premium on Vietnam 25% rice last shown at around $325- $335 per ton. Vietnam Plans to Stockpile One Million Tons of Rice Feb 17, 2015

Department of Foreign Trade as saying.While the auction prices were in the range of around 8,000 - 10,000 baht (around $246-$307) per ton for white rice and around 21,000-22,000 baht (around $645-$676) per ton for Hommali rice, the Department reportedly sold the rice at around market prices, according to the Thai Rice Mills Association (TRMA). The Department sold around 350,039 tons of 5% broken rice with bidding price range of around 7,650-12,220 baht (around $235-$375) per ton and around 146,205 tons of Hommali rice with bidding price range of around 23,010-31,000 baht (around $707-$952) per ton. Market price of domestic 5% broken white rice and Hommali rice currently stand at around 12,000 baht (around $369) per ton and 30,000 baht (around $921) per ton respectively.The government has been specifying that it seeks to sell around 10 million tons of stockpiled rice this year and around 7 million tons next year without impacting prices.
