Hygiene Kits As the global community has seen an influx of refugees over the years, many organizations have stepped up to meet the needs presented by this crisis. The Utah Refugee Center is a local group that helps over a thousand refugees who resettle in Utah each year. The Utah Central Association of Realtors® (UCAR) is committed to helping support and build robust communities in Utah, and has recently undertaken efforts to help care for refugees. “We decided to team up with the Utah Refugee Center because this year more than ever, we are committed to bettering our community, and the refugee crisis presents a serious need,” said Stephanie Summers, Realtor® and president of UCAR. “We are a group of Realtors®, but we’re also neighbors, friends, and parents. What better way to celebrate being a part of this community for 100 years than finding a way to give back.” While our local refugees have many
needs, our local Realtors® felt that some of the basic necessities shouldn’t be among them. This May, many local Realtors® gathered at UCAR’s headquarters in Orem to help assemble hygiene kits. Kits included shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, lotion, and combs. UCAR also donated toilet paper and laundry detergent to the refugee center. Realtors® were able to assemble 200+ hygiene kits, which will be taken to the Utah Refugee Center and distributed as the center sees fit.
