As we welcome another year of the Lehi Round-Up, we are reminded why this tradition has meant so much to generations of Lehi families. For nearly nine decades, the Round-Up has been more than a rodeo or a week of events, it has been a celebration of community, heritage, and the people who make Lehi such a special place to call home.

The Lehi Round-Up has a unique way of bringing people together. Neighbors reconnect, families create lifelong memories, and longtime traditions are passed from one generation to the next. Whether you are attending the rodeo, enjoying the parade, listening to live music, or simply spending time with loved ones, this week reminds us of the values that continue to define our city.

This year’s theme, “Stars, Stripes & Sparkles,” perfectly reflects the energy, patriotism, and excitement that make the Round-Up such a treasured Lehi tradition. It is a celebration of summer, of community pride, and of the freedoms and opportunities we are

blessed to enjoy together.

As we celebrate this year, we also take time to recognize the people who have helped build and strengthen the traditions we enjoy today. The Lehi Round-Up has always been powered by dedicated volunteers, community leaders, and residents who believe in preserving the spirit of this city for future generations.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to the countless volunteers, organizers, sponsors, public safety personnel, and members of the Lehi Civic Improvement Association who work tirelessly to make the Round-Up possible each year. Their service and dedication are a reflection of the very best of Lehi.

JACKLINS TO RIDE AS GRAND MARSHALS OF 2026 LEHI ROUND-UP RODEO

When the gate swings open and the dust begins to rise at the Lehi Round-Up Rodeo, few in the arena will have earned that moment quite like Ray and Kelly Jacklin.

The longtime rodeo supporters have been named the grand marshals for the 2026 Lehi RoundUp Rodeo, honoring decades of hands-on work, quiet dedication and a deep-rooted love of the Western way of life.

For 23 years, Ray Jacklin served on the rodeo committee, doing the behind-the-scenes work that kept the arena ready for rodeos, 4-H events, barrel racing and high school competitions. Before modern arena footing, that meant climbing onto a tractor, breaking up hard-packed dirt and smoothing the surface to keep it safe for riders and livestock.

“There was always something going on,” Ray said.

Many nights, his children worked alongside him, learning to run equipment and care for the grounds. One daughter later won an FFA tractor-driving competition using skills she learned there. Today, it takes a team to do what Ray once managed largely on his own.

During his time on the committee, Ray also helped oversee improvements to the rodeo grounds, including restroom upgrades, replacing wooden bleachers with metal seating, lighting improvements, fencing

along 500 West and expansion of the announcer’s stand. Some of his favorite memories came from working with longtime rodeo clown Lecile Harris, including welding a replacement trailer jack for him during one visit.

Ray’s service extended beyond the rodeo grounds. He served 25 years as a Scout leader and was Lehi’s first Order of the Arrow advisor. Born in American Fork in 1944 and raised on a farm in Lindon, he grew up working hard and saving money for rodeo tickets by picking fruit.

Kelly Jacklin also has lifelong ties to horses. Born in Fillmore and raised in Hinckley before moving to Midvale, she returned to riding in 1997 and has since competed

nationally three times with Arabian horses.

Ray and Kelly met in South Jordan and married March 24, 1990, building a life centered on family, work and horses. Even at 82, Ray still operates Custom Farm and Repair and remains the area’s only custom hay baler, putting up more than 10,000 bales last year alone.

The couple shares eight children and 27 grandchildren and continues to spend time riding and showing horses.

“It was good for the town to have the rodeo grounds,” Ray said. “A lot of people used it.”

This summer, the Jacklins will ride into the arena they spent a lifetime helping build and maintain.

LEHI ROUND-UP ROYALTY

The Lehi Round-Up Celebration began its 2026 festivities on April 18 with one of its signature traditions — the crowning of new rodeo royalty.

The Miss Lehi Round-Up Rodeo pageant serves as the official kickoff event for the annual celebration. Contestants are evaluated across a range of areas, including their knowledge of professional rodeo and the history of Lehi and the Lehi Round-Up.

The pageant showcases the talents, knowledge and dedication of young women passionate about rodeo and the Western way of life, and includes judges’ interviews, modeling, speeches, impromptu

questions and horsemanship.

Terra Hicken, from Heber, Utah, was crowned Miss Lehi RoundUp Rodeo 2026. Selected as first attendant is Jensyn Hamilton from Pleasant Grove, Utah. Second attendant is Lydia Knapp from Lindon, Utah.

The new royalty will serve as ambassadors for the Lehi Round-Up Rodeo and will make appearances at several parades and rodeo activities leading up to the annual Lehi celebration.

LEHI MAYOR’S MESSAGE

Moving Lehi Forward

As I reflect on my first several months serving as mayor of Lehi, I have been continually inspired by the strength, generosity and pride that define this community. Since taking office in January, I have had the opportunity to meet with residents, business owners, city employees and community leaders who care deeply about Lehi’s future. What has become even more clear to me is that while our city continues to grow and evolve, the values that make Lehi special remain unchanged: neighbors supporting neighbors, families putting down roots and a community that works together to create opportunities for future generations. I am honored to serve this city and excited about the momentum we are building together.

This year has already brought meaningful progress and important milestones for our city. In April, we celebrated the opening of the new Civic Center and Lehi Library. These buildings represent more than just new facilities; they reflect our commitment to serving residents today while preparing for future generations. The Civic Center creates a centralized space for city services,

and the library stands as a place for learning, connection and opportunity for residents of all ages.

We are also seeing major investments in transportation and infrastructure that will improve mobility throughout northwest Utah County for years to come. Construction is underway on UDOT’s new 2100 North freeway connection, which will improve east-west travel and strengthen connectivity across the region. Pioneer Crossing improvements are also progressing, helping reduce congestion and expand capacity for the thousands of commuters who rely on these roads every day. This summer through late 2026, residents will begin seeing Flex Lanes installed along the corridor, including additional lanes opening, new overhead signals and signage, updated road striping and signal integration to support the new traffic system.

In partnership with American Fork, Lehi is excited to move forward with the 1900 South Pony Express Parkway connection to 700 West. This interlocal cooperation agreement represents the kind of regional collaboration needed to address transportation

challenges and improve traffic flow for our residents.

Another important milestone this year was the completion of our water meter installation project. As Utah continues to focus on long-term water conservation, these meters will help create a more equitable water rate structure that encourages responsible use while supporting the sustainability of one of our most valuable resources. Residents who conserve water may see lower costs compared to the current structure, while higher water usage may result in increased rates. We recognize that water stewardship will play an important role in Lehi’s future, and we are committed to balancing conservation with responsible growth.

I am especially proud that Lehi was recently named one of the safest suburbs in America by SmartAsset. This recognition is a testament to the dedicated work of our police department, first responders, city employees and residents who continue to look out for one another.

Lehi has always been a city where people care deeply about their neighbors and community. Giving back is not just a slogan here; it is a habit. It shows up in small daily acts and in moments of real need. It is one of the reasons families choose to live here and businesses choose to invest here.

As we look toward the future, my vision for Lehi is centered on preserving that strong sense of community while responsibly

planning for continued growth. We will continue investing in infrastructure, public safety, parks, recreation and quality city services while ensuring Lehi remains a place where families can thrive.

I also look forward to gathering together during our cherished community traditions this summer, especially the Round-Up. This year’s “Stars, Stripes & Sparkles” theme gives us a special opportunity to celebrate America 250 while honoring the patriotic spirit and community pride that define Lehi.

LEHI ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Lehi: Built for Opportunity

Utah has been ranked #1 for the third consecutive year as the “Best State” by U.S. News and World Report. The state maintains low unemployment rates, with both business and job growth steadily increasing. Migration and birth rates remain robust, contributing to the overall health of the economy.

The Federal Reserve has kept interest rates high to continue to temper the United States’ previously overheated economy and fearing an inflation spike. While this move has held housing prices constant, it has stagnated the GDP and has lead to manufacturing layoffs with higher national unemployment rates.

Utah’s resilience has been evident during past recessions and pandemics, emerging stronger than many other states with notably lower unemployment rates and swifter recovery. Presently, Utah leads the nation in both low unemployment and job growth, with cities like Lehi contributing significantly to this trend.

Another key driver for Lehi is its retail growth. CenterCal has announced a retail center with Whole Foods the anchor tenant and higherend, finer-dining options.

Skye View Development has also announced a large retail component with a 125,000-square-foot big-box store, upscale fitness center and other retail shopping. Moto Untd will also be open soon with ATV, watercraft, motorcycles and power boats.

Lehi is one of the cities driving job growth. Texas Instruments is currently constructing a new 300mm semiconductor wafer fabrication plant, which is due to be completed in

the next two years. This expansion will bring the largest capital expenditure by one business in the state’s history, with an expected capital expenditure of $11.5 billion. Upon completion of the new 1.2 million-square-foot facility, the entire campus (2.4 million square feet) will employ 1,500 to 2,000 employees and pay higherthan-average county wages.

Since 2024, Lehi City’s home market has slightly declined, driven by factors like its interest rates and more sellers than buyers. Tight housing inventory and a buyers’ market have led to competitive bidding and quick property turnover for new construction, with older homes lagging in the market. Despite occasional fluctuations, Lehi remains a sought-after destination for homebuyers and investors, with stable growth expected.

Lehi is still approving new subdivisions and phases for planned unit developments. Developments include the approved Skye Area Plan with more than 2,700 residential units. Thanksgiving Point is currently updating its area plan to include 2,000 residential units. Traverse Mountain still has 2,000 to 2,500 residential units to be developed. This does not include Cold Spring Ranch, Holbrook Farms or other developments.

Our responsibility as a government entity is to be a resource and facilitator for the business community. Lehi partnered with the Mountainland Association of Governments to create a Revolving Loan Fund for Lehi businesses. The loan fund is intended to serve businesses that have been in operation for at least two years, are showing a profit and

need working capital to reach the next level. This loan provides an opportunity for businesses that aren’t quite yet bankable to continue to grow. For more information, reach out to the city’s Economic Development Department at 385-201-1000.

We will continue to see stability within the business community through 2026. I envision our robust economy will continue to grow at a slower rate, creating jobs and a demand for retail and housing. While the nation is working to repair holes in its economy, all economic indicators for the state of Utah and Lehi show our growth will be stable and controlled.

The key to Lehi City’s success is indeed the secret sauce: placing emphasis on family, values and heritage. Lehi City is definitely “where it’s at.”

SARATOGA SPRINGS MAYOR’S MESSAGE

A foundation for the future

When residents ask what keeps me up at night, the answer is growth. According to a recent report from the University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, Saratoga Springs is the fastest-growing city in Utah, both in raw numbers and percentage. We added 4,682 residents in a single year, an 8.4 percent jump that put us ahead of every other city in the state.

That kind of growth is a vote of confidence from people choosing to call this place home. It is also a serious responsibility. The question is not whether we will grow but how we manage it. How do we keep up with infrastructure? How do we protect the quality of life that brought people here in the first place? And how do we make sure growth pays for itself instead of leaving the bill on residents’ doorsteps?

Economic development is a big part of that answer. It is not just about new buildings or new businesses. It is about creating a balanced tax base, bringing services closer to home and making sure the cost of running this city does not fall entirely on homeowners.

Three projects in particular are reshaping what this city will look like for decades to come.

WinCo Foods

WinCo Foods is well underway on their new store near the Home Depot. Crews are completing site work now and are preparing to go vertical. WinCo is an employee-owned grocer known for low prices and a no-frills shopping experience, and their decision to locate here reflects what

retailers across the Wasatch Front are starting to recognize: Saratoga Springs is no longer a bedroom community. It is a destination market.

Harmons Neighborhood Grocer

The recent announcement that Harmons will be coming to Saratoga Springs is a milestone worth celebrating. Harmons is a Utahowned, family-operated grocer with a reputation for quality, local sourcing and community investment. Bringing Harmons to our city gives residents a premium grocery option closer to home, and it sends a clear signal to other quality retailers that this market is ready for them.

The Ring Road Shopping Area

The Ring Road Shopping Area will offer a variety of service and retail options for our residents. Together with WinCo and Harmons, having these three distinct shopping areas across the city will help diversify our traffic rather than funneling everyone to one place for their shopping needs. That is good for residents, good for local roads and good for the businesses themselves.

Why this matters

Every commercial rooftop, every grocery store, every restaurant and every service business in our city does two things at once. It makes life more convenient for residents, and it generates the sales tax revenue that pays for roads, parks and public safety in a growing community. A healthy commercial base is what allows us to

invest in the services residents expect without leaning entirely on residential property taxes.

We have spent years laying the groundwork for this moment through zoning decisions, infrastructure investments and partnerships with developers willing to build for the long term. The next few years will be the payoff. WinCo, Harmons and the Ring Road Shopping Area are the leading edge of a much bigger story about a city growing up and growing into itself.

Saratoga Springs has always been a great place to live. We are now becoming a great place to do business, too. I am grateful for the residents, business owners, staff and council members who are helping shape what comes next.

Saratoga Springs continues to emerge as one of Utah’s most dynamic and strategically positioned communities. Located at the center of one of the fastest-growing regions in the state, our city is evolving from a rapidly growing residential community into a regional hub for commerce, investment, recreation and innovation.

Over the past two decades, Saratoga Springs has consistently ranked among Utah’s fastest-growing cities. Today, our population has grown to more than 72,000 residents, and that growth is translating into something even more important: long-term economic opportunity. Businesses, developers and investors increasingly recognize the strength of our market, the momentum of our infrastructure investments and the exceptional quality of life our community provides.

The commercial growth taking place throughout Saratoga Springs reflects this momentum. In recent years, the city has welcomed major retail anchors, including Costco, Home Depot, WinCo, Macey’s and Harmons and numerous additional restaurants, retailers and service

providers. These developments are helping establish Saratoga Springs as a major retail destination for northwest Utah County while creating new opportunities closer to home for our residents.

Transportation investments have also positioned Saratoga Springs for the future. Improvements to Pony Express Parkway and Pioneer Crossing and the continued expansion of Mountain View Corridor are creating greater regional connectivity and improving mobility throughout the west side of the valley. These projects not only reduce congestion but also support long-term economic development by improving access for residents, employees and businesses alike.

As our city continues to grow, we are equally focused on creating a stronger sense of place. For many years, Saratoga Springs lacked a traditional downtown district. Today, that is changing. We are incredibly excited about the future downtown development currently in the design phase. This project represents an important step in creating a vibrant community gathering place that will include dining, retail, entertainment,

residential opportunities, public spaces and the unique character that residents expect from a true downtown experience. We are confident the community will be excited by what is ahead.

What makes Saratoga Springs unique is not simply our growth but the thoughtful approach we are taking to shape it. We remain focused on creating a community where businesses can thrive, families can succeed and residents can continue to enjoy the outstanding quality of life that has made Saratoga Springs one of Utah’s most desirable places to live.
