I’ll leave you with a quote that seems especially fitting for this time of year:
“August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.” — Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath captures August perfectly—the days of summer begin to dwindle, the air subtly shifts, and yet fall hasn’t quite arrived. This resonates with me even more this year, as I prepare for my own transition: in just three weeks, Izzi will be leaving for college. Life is about to change, and I keep reminding myself—change is good. Repeat after me: Change. Is. Good.
Wishing you all a wonderful August.

Blink and it's August! One minute we're firing up the grill for Memorial Day, and the next minute we're wondering where our summer vacation went.
But hey, don't panic! Summer's not ready to pack its bags just yet. There's still time to perfect your cannonball technique, have one more "quick" cookout that somehow lasts until midnight, and take those family photos where everyone's actually looking at the camera AND smiling. (Miracles do happen!)
Now, I'll admit it—watching summer wave goodbye always gives me a tiny case of the blues. But then I remember: fall means the welcomed return of comfortable outdoor temperatures that don't require industrial-strength deodorant. And maybe I can start playing pickleball again!
Interested in seeing your story featured in an upcoming issue? Send me an email to get the process started. I promise it's easy and painless!
And let's give a round of applause to our amazing sponsors! It's because of them this magazine is possible, and we're so grateful for their continued support.
Now go forth and squeeze every last drop of sunshine out of these August days. Your future pumpkin-flavored coffee drinking self will thank you!

Steve Shepherd has worn many hats…hospital administrator, aerospace technician, Army veteran, architect rep, employment counselor, real estate dabbler, and British car enthusiast-he’s pretty much the human version of a Swiss Army knife.
His professional story begins with three years in the Army, followed by three years aboard a ship as a missile tracking technician in the aerospace industry. Armed with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering (now called Industrial Operations Research) and a Master's in Hospital Administration—both from Duke University in Durham,—he transitioned into hospital administration, where he spent more than 30 years helping healthcare institutions run smoothly.
But retirement in 2006 didn't mean slowing down. He spent three years as a representative for an architectural firm, followed by four years with the North Carolina state employment office. "I just messed around a lot," he says.
Perhaps one of his proudest accomplishments is the family business he and his late wife started in 1974: Great Clips. What began as four modest hair salon locations has grown into an impressive 20-store operation in the Charlotte area, thanks largely to the efforts of his oldest son, Matt. His younger son, Scott, took a different path as a school teacher and retired Navy serviceman, proving that success comes in many forms.
When he's not busy with life's daily adventures, you'll likely find him under the hood of his pride and joy: a 1970 MGB. His love affair with British motor cars began when he was just 18 years old, and he's owned a succession of these charming (if occasionally temperamental) vehicles for the past 40+ years.
After owning property at Carolina Beach since 1976, he's intimately familiar with how the Leland area has transformed over the
decades. "Back then, it was just someplace you drove through—three stores and a gas station, pretty much," he recalls. The development of Brunswick Forest has turned the area into what he calls "a sort of mini city," complete with all the conveniences of stores and restaurants within just a few blocks.
Following his wife's passing, he moved from Charlotte to a house at Carolina Beach, but eventually found his way to Inspire, where he's been one of the early residents for the past 2½ years. As one of the first people to move into the community, he's watched it grow from about 10 residents to 120130 people today.
At Inspire, he's found his tribe—a tight-knit group of eight people who share his passion for card games. But their friendship extends far beyond the card table. They share dinners, celebrate birthdays together, and even took a memorable 10-day cruise together last April.
He shares his single-bedroom apartment with Jenny, a MaltesePoodle mix who provides excellent company and probably doesn't judge his card-playing skills too harshly.
From missile tracking to hospital corridors, from British roadsters to card games with friends, this is a life story that proves the best chapters might just be the ones you're writing right now. And with Jenny by his side and a good hand of cards to play, it sounds like he's exactly where he belongs.

Building Hope and Community:
IBY DOREEN SARGENTE | PHOTOS SUBMITTED BY CHRIS STEVENSON
n the heart of Leland, a beacon of community spirit shines brightly through Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity. Since its inception, this nonprofit has embodied its mission to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
The journey of Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity is rooted in dedicated service. With a history spanning years of commitment, their Executive Director, Jason Gaver, who transitioned from a board member role, has steered the organization since May 2024. Their philosophy centers on the belief that housing is fundamental not only for shelter but also for fostering health, education, equity, and prosperity for all.
What inspires them most? It’s the transformative impact of providing a "hand up, not a handout" to their neighbors in Brunswick County. Every day, they witness firsthand the tangible difference their efforts make in the lives of community members.
Their call to action is clear: support is vital. Whether through donations at their three ReStore locations, monetary contributions, or simply spreading awareness, every effort counts in building a stronger, more resilient community.
Behind their serious mission lies a vibrant team known for their resilience and camaraderie. Despite being a small nonprofit, they proudly boast about being "Small but Mighty." Their secret to a fulfilling workday? Making every moment count with a shared passion for creating positive change.
As Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity continues to grow, their belief remains unwavering: housing is not just about building homes, but about nurturing hope and paving the way for brighter futures. Together, they build more than structures; they build communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
I’ve personally been to their ReStore several times and can vouch for how clean, well-organized, and inviting it is—no digging through piles or navigating cluttered aisles. It’s a hidden gem if you're looking for furniture, home goods, or just a satisfying treasure hunt.
One final note: the store is always in need of donations, so if you’re downsizing, decluttering, or just feel like doing some good— consider dropping off a few items. And if you’re 55 or older, don’t forget to stop by on Wednesdays for Senior Day—you’ll get 20% off your purchase. A great deal, and an even better cause.
LIVING LOCAL
The FamilyBridgersJourney
BY DOREEN SARGENTE | PHOTOS BY G. FRANK HART
Tim Bridgers, the founder and owner of Boot Swamp Ranch, has always had a passion for the outdoors, family, and business. Formerly known as Bridgers Deer Farm, Boot Swamp Ranch has evolved into a premier fallow deer breeding business, bringing top-tier genetics from Texas to North Carolina. But behind the business is a man with deep roots in his community, a strong sense of family, and an undeniable love for adventure.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
Tim, his wife, and his father—also Tim Bridgers—are the driving force behind their family business, built on teamwork, tradition, and a shared vision. “It’s a blessing to work alongside my family every day,” Tim says. “We each bring something different to the table, but at the end of the day, we’re all working toward the same goal.”
Their daughter, a sophomore at North Brunswick High, has spent five years on the softball field and dreams of studying ministry and missions at Liberty University. Meanwhile, their son, also a junior, hones his welding skills and jumps in to help with the business whenever he can. Life on the farm isn’t just work—it’s a hands-on lesson in responsibility, resilience, and the beauty of nature. “I love that my kids get to be a
part of this,” Tim shares. “They’re learning skills that will serve them for life, whether they stay in farming or not.”
A JOURNEY THROUGH EDUCATION AND CAREER
Tim’s professional journey is just as impressive as his personal one. He began by studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Carolina Charlotte before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Liberty University. He later pursued an MBA at UNC Chapel Hill, focusing on corporate finance and leadership.
For the first 11 years of his career, Tim was a small business owner in Wilmington, NC, before transitioning into banking. He spent a decade with Live Oak Bank as Senior Vice President of Small Business Lending, specializing in helping small businesses grow. Now, he serves as Managing Director of Preneed Insurance for Global Atlantic Financial Group, a company owned by KKR based in New York City. “I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit,” Tim says. “Whether it’s banking, insurance, or deer farming, the goal is the same—building something meaningful that makes a difference.”
LIFE BEYOND BUSINESS
When Tim isn’t working, you’ll find him outdoors, fully immersed in the land.
Whether he’s hunting whitetail in North Carolina and South Texas, refining the farm’s roads and fields, or tending to his pine trees, he thrives in nature. But the deer farm is more than a business—it’s a passion. “I love studying these animals, getting to know their personalities, and seeing how we can improve each generation,” he explains. “Breeding healthy, strong deer isn’t just about genetics; it’s about understanding their needs and giving them the best possible environment.”
His family shares his love of animals. At home, the Bridgers household is full of life with their three beloved dogs: Elsa, an 11-year-old miniature dachshund who has officially retired to a life of relaxation; Buster, a sneaky 9-year-old dachshund with a habit of visiting the neighbors unannounced; and Cash, a 6-year-old Australian Labradoodle who is convinced he’s the same size as his tiny dachshund siblings. “Cash has a personality bigger than his body,” Tim laughs. “If he’s not getting enough attention, he’ll start pulling pillows off the couch just to make sure we notice him.”
COMMUNITY AND HOME
For the past nine years, the Bridgers family has lived in Cross Water Circle in Cypress Pointe. They love the safety of the neighborhood, the layout of their home, and, most importantly, their neighbors. “We’ve been really blessed with great people around us,” Tim says. “Even though there aren’t many families with kids the same age as ours, we love hosting at our pool and spending time with friends in the neighborhood.”
Though their free time is often spent at the farm—an hour away from their home—the Bridgers family also enjoys neighborhood walks with their dogs and time spent outdoors.
Tim’s life has been anything but predictable, filled with twists, turns, and unforgettable stories. His wife, once a flight attendant, was in the air on 9/11— an experience that steered her toward banking before she chose to be a stay-athome mom. “That day changed everything for her,” Tim recalls. “She realized she wanted a different path, and I couldn’t be prouder of the choices she made.”
As for Tim, his college years were spent making music in Christian bands, later leading worship for nearly a decade—all while launching his first business. “Music, faith, and business have always been
connected for me,” he says. “They’ve each played a role in shaping who I am today.”
A LOVE FOR TRAVEL
The Bridgers family is always on the move, from hunting expeditions across the U.S. to mountain hideaways and sunny Southern shores. Their next frontier? “We’re thinking about heading out west,” Tim shares. “There’s something about the wide-open spaces and the adventure of it all that really excites us.”
AN OPEN INVITATION
For those in the community curious about Boot Swamp Ranch, Tim extends a warm invitation to visit. The farm has become a
leading source for high-quality fallow deer genetics, ensuring healthy, happy animals that contribute to herds across the U.S. With a focus on creating an environment that mimics their natural habitat, the farm boasts high conception rates and strong fawn development, making it a model for responsible breeding practices. “We take a lot of pride in what we do,” Tim says. “It’s not just about raising deer; it’s about doing it the right way.”
If you’d like to learn more, visit their Facebook page at Boot Swamp Ranch. And if you’re ever in the neighborhood, don’t hesitate to stop by—the Bridgers family would love to share their passion for deer farming and the great outdoors with you.

Dentistry, Dedication, & Daily Bike Rides
BY DOREEN SARGENTE
PHOTOS PROVIDED BY DR. ANDY GOULD
When Dr. Andy Gould flashes a grin, you can’t help but feel instantly at ease—which is convenient, considering he’s a dentist. Behind his bright smile is more than just a man with a dental mirror and a love of molars. Andy is the kind of guy who rides his bike nearly four miles to work each day, geeks out over high-tech gadgets (yes, even the dental kind), and once handled teeth handed to him rink-side—literally.
Let’s rewind. Andy knew back in 8th grade that dentistry was his calling, thanks to a local dentist in his hometown who inspired him. “I fell in love with the profession and all it stood for,” he says. (Spoiler: he still feels that way nearly three decades later.) After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995 and completing his residency in Baltimore, Andy went on to build a successful dental career in Pennsylvania, owning and managing multiple practices.
He even spent 14 years of his career as the team dentist for the Hershey Bears, the minor league hockey team for the Washington Capitals. “Trauma and teeth—lots of them handed to me,” he recalls with a chuckle. While that experience expanded his clinical toolkit, it also sharpened his skills in emergency care, communication, and keeping calm under pressure—skills that serve him well with nervous patients today.
In 2023, Andy and his wife, Ami, made a move to North Carolina and landed in Brunswick Forest. It didn’t take long for his professional world to fall into place. Thanks to a recommendation from family members (who were already fans of BlueWave Dentistry), Andy connected with Dr. Chad Biggerstaff, owner of BlueWave. “He wasn’t even hiring,” Andy admits, “but after hearing about my 25+ years in the field, he said, ‘Let’s make room.’” And just like that,
Andy found his new dental home.
BlueWave Dentistry isn’t your run-ofthe-mill office. With over 54 years of combined experience between three doctors and a full suite of services—from root canals and implants to Invisalign and even Botox—Andy proudly says, “You don’t have to bounce around to different specialists. We’ve got it all, right here.”
And it’s not just what they do, it’s how they do it. Andy lights up when talking about the practice’s cutting-edge technology. “I had three practices in Pennsylvania, and none of them compare to the technology BlueWave has now.” Digital impressions, 3D imaging, and sameday crowns are all part of the experience. No gagging impressions, no second appointments, no problem.
But for Andy, it’s never just been about the tools—it’s about the people. “One of the best compliments is when a friend becomes a patient,” he says. Whether it’s drawing out treatment plans by hand or following up with personal phone calls/texts, Andy focuses on keeping patients comfortable, informed, and—yes—even relaxed. And for the especially anxious? “We’ve got blankets, music, and even a little pharmaceutical help if needed.”
Outside the office, Andy is soaking up life in Brunswick Forest like a sponge in a dental rinse. He’s a self-described activity junkie—golf, swimming, big-game hunting, travel, working out, biking, even dabbling in pickleball. He is also a member of the Basilica St. Mary’s church where he is a lector and serves as a Eucharistic Minister.
He and Ami, who he met while they were both students at Pitt, are celebrating 29 years of marriage. Their two daughters are following equally impressive paths: Lydia, 25, is starting her Nurse Practitioner program at Duke this fall while working in UNC’s pediatric division, and Meredith, 24, is heading to New Jersey to begin her fellowship in pediatric speech pathology. “We’re proud of them beyond words,” Andy says.
Andy’s heart for service isn’t limited to the paying patient. Back in Pennsylvania, he helped launch a charity dental clinic in Harrisburg to provide care for those in need. And while he’s still getting his roots into the North Carolina soil, he’s already thinking about how to give back to the community that’s welcomed him. “Outreach will always be a part of who I am.” Looking ahead, Andy sees himself doing dentistry in the community for another 10 years, staying active, deepening friendships, and possibly stepping into leadership roles around the neighborhood. “I love what I do. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.”
So, if you see a guy cruising past on a bike with a big smile and maybe even a hunting story or two to share, wave hello—it’s probably Andy Gould, your friendly neighborhood dentist… and possibly your next opponent on the pickleball court.

There’s something special about the energy of a group that runs together—not just in motion, but in purpose and commitment to a cause. For the women of Brunswick Forest, that group is Chicks with Kicks, an evergrowing community of about 350 women who came together to participate in the annual Wilma Dash 5K—a charity race supporting women’s health efforts and the local nonprofit NourishNC.
The race itself was an exciting challenge for many, but it was the celebration afterward where the community and connection within the group truly had a chance to shine. Held at the Brunswick Forest Commons, the post-race event brought together runners and friends, filling the space with conversation, laughter, and congratulations. Many brought lawn chairs and gathered under canopies to stay out of the sweltering heat.
The food was purchased with a $500 gift card awarded to the

As women sampled the drinks and mingled, they also had the chance to connect with the sponsors and the people behind them—a perfect representation of what this celebration embodied.
Conversations throughout the evening revealed that the Wilma Dash meant something a little different to each woman who ran. For some, like Debby Daigle and Patty McDonnell, the journey to race day started long before the starting line. The two trained

together for six weeks, encouraging each other with every run and curating an all-female artist playlist to keep their spirits high. Their dedication paid off: both crossed the finish line feeling strong.
Others, like Carolyn Evans, were first-time participants. Without any training, she signed up for the race and discovered more than just a fun workout—she found a welcoming and supportive community. She’s already planning to stay involved with the group and run the Wilma Dash again next year.
But not all victories came from preparation. One woman, Patty Kelley, surprised even herself by placing third in her division without any prior training. She started running halfway through the race and was thrilled by her impressive finish.
Even in a crowd full of impressive women, one name deserves special recognition: Erika Brunner. Erika organized the post-race celebration—a task that required time, patience, and care—and it showed. She was instrumental in coordinating the group’s involvement this year and last. Her effort made the event feel purposeful and warm, and everyone there had a blast thanks to her hard work.
The essence of this group can be summed up in one word: unity. You could see it in the shared victories between women who trained side by side, in the clinking of Prosecco glasses, and in the collective sense that—whether seasoned runners or first-timers—everyone was celebrated. Whether running a 5K or raising a glass, the women of Brunswick Forest proved that good times and connection go hand in hand.

The back-to-school season can feel overwhelming for parents trying to manage everything from supply shopping to schedule adjustments. With proper planning and strategic approaches, you can navigate this busy time while maintaining your sanity and setting your family up for success.
START EARLY, STAY ORGANIZED
Begin your back-to-school preparations at least two weeks before the first day. Create a master checklist that includes school supplies, clothing needs, medical requirements, and schedule changes. This prevents last-minute panic shopping and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
ESTABLISH
ROUTINES BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS
Practice your new morning and evening routines during the final week of summer. Gradually shift bedtimes and wake-up times to match the school schedule. This helps children adjust more smoothly and reduces first-week stress for the entire family.
CREATE A FAMILY COMMAND CENTER
Designate a central location in your home for school-related information. Include a family calendar, important school documents, lunch menus, and contact lists. This becomes your go-to spot for staying organized and informed throughout the school year.
MEAL PLANNING MADE SIMPLE
Prepare a rotation of quick breakfast options and pack-ahead lunch ideas. Involve children in meal prep on weekends to save time during busy weekday mornings. Consider investing in quality lunch containers that make packing easier and more appealing.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY
Establish open lines of communication with teachers early in the year. Stay connected through school apps, newsletters, and parent portals. Schedule regular check-ins with your children about their school experiences, friendships, and any challenges they're facing.
MANAGING MULTIPLE CHILDREN
If you have children in different grades or schools, create individual timelines and color-code materials by child. Delegate age-appropriate tasks to older children and establish buddy systems where siblings help each other prepare for school.
SELF-CARE FOR PARENTS
Remember that your well-being directly impacts your family's success. Build buffer time into your morning routine, prepare as much as possible the night before, and don't hesitate to ask for help from other parents, family members, or school staff when needed.
The key to surviving back-to-school season is accepting that perfection isn't the goal—preparation and flexibility are. Start with these strategies, adapt them to your family's unique needs, and remember that every family finds their rhythm at their own pace.

Everyday Heroes Awards & Luncheon
SUBMITTED BY
LAURA PAWLEWICZ, DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Carousel Child Advocacy Center is excited to be hosting our 2nd Annual Everyday Heroes Awards & Luncheon, benefiting the children and families of Brunswick County on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, from 11am-1pm.
Due to the success of our inaugural event last year, we have changed venues and will be holding the event this year at the Homer E Wright Event Center in beautiful St James.
At this event, we will recognize community members who are making a difference in the lives of the children of Brunswick County who have survived physical abuse, sexual abuse & extreme neglect. You will also hear from a powerful keynote speaker, Danielle Saintard Valiente.
As a child, Danielle was a perfectionist- overachieving and overcommitting herself to hide the chaos and abuse that was going on inside her house. Outside of the house, Danielle was a different person. She spent 18 years living two different lives- one life in the darkness and the other in the light. At the age of 29, Danielle was ready to face her past, and now her goal is to use her story to educate, empower and enlighten others on the importance of prevention, awareness and intervention. Danielle has pivoted her life 180 degrees, but it wasn’t without difficulty. She finds nothing but purpose in her past, using her past as fuel for her future. Please join us for this worthwhile event and make a difference in the lives of victims of abuse and neglect.

From area scouts to todays’ military, North Brunswick is ready to face any challenge.
Brunswick County numbers 13,096 veterans, according to Census Data dated July, 1, 2024. That is just slightly more than New Hanover County yet to celebrate one of the biggest veteran holidays we have to go to Wilmington.
The Leland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12196 and Auxiliary feel it is time to act our size. There is no reason to take the best of ours to theirs when, with a little work, we can show off who we are. With the help of Belville Mayor Allen and Deb Pickett, of Signature Wealth Strategies, we hope to put together a program that North Brunswick will enjoy.
First, and very important to veterans, this event will take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Belville Riverwalk. The actual day for Veterans Day, not on Saturday for commercial purposes. Combatants didn’t wait till the appropriate commercial weekend to get killed. We want to celebrate our comrades on the day of the year that is actually set aside for them.
The day will start with the annual Veterans Breakfast at 8:30 am at the Leland Arts Center, hosted by the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. From there we will move to Belville Riverwalk where opening ceremonies will begin at 11 am. Closing ceremonies will begin at 3:45 pm.
THEME OF THE DAY:
From area scouts to todays’ military, North Brunswick is ready to face any challenge.
North Brunswick, I believe this is a first ever for our area. We need sponsors, donors, volunteers, and JROTC units to make this a community success. Please ask your ginormous business or small business to publicly support this local effort. Ask your friends and neighbors to jump on board.

Vendors- are requested/but not required to make a donation.

11 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup mini marshmallows
3 regular sized Hershey’s bars, broken into pieces
2-3 packages graham crackers, broken into squares
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter with white and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, sea salt to combine. Set aside.
Add the flour mixture to the butter mixer and combine on low speed.
Fold in the chocolate chips and marshmallows.
Lay out graham crackers squares side by side on the pans as close as possible (they should be touching).
You may have to add or remove graham crackers according to how much dough you have but I usually use around 36.
If you want your cookies thicker you will use more dough and less graham crackers.
Place 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough on each graham cracker square. about 1 – 1 ½ inches apart.
For extra s'mores look, I like to press 1-2 mini marshmallows right on top of the dough balls.
Bake for 9-12 minutes. They will be done when the edges begin to turn golden brown.
Remove to a wire rack to cool.
After cookies have cooled for about 2-3 minutes, press the Hershey’s bar pieces on to the top. You can place as many pieces or as little as you want depending how much chocolate flavor you want. I like to add a tiny sprinkle of flaky salt on top.
For clean cutting make sure cookies are completely cool and cut with a sharp knife.

Elsa, our 12-year-old light brown miniature dachshund, is the sassy senior of the family. She’s ornery, set in her ways, and not interested in impressing anyone. She loves her people, her food, and a good belly rub—that’s it. Guests? She’ll tolerate them if she must, but she’s not here to make new friends. We absolutely adore her cranky little heart.
Buster is our 10-year-old darker brown miniature dachshund and the mischief maker of the bunch. He’s a sneaky escape artist and has been known to “forget” where the bathroom is, all while pretending he’s completely innocent. He’s loyal, loving, and along with the others, proudly serves as part of our family’s top-notch alarm system. Nothing gets past this crew—they’ll let us know someone’s at the door before the doorbell even thinks about ringing!
Just as you do with your family’s emergency supply kit, think first about the basics for survival, such as food and water. Have two kits, one larger kit if you are sheltering in place and one lightweight version for if you need to evacuate. Review your kits regularly to ensure that their contents, especially foods and medicines, are fresh.
Here are some items you may want to include in an emergency kit for your pet:
q FOOD. Keep several days’ supply of food in an airtight, waterproof container.
q WATER. Store a water bowl and several days’ supply.
q MEDICINE. Keep an extra supply of the medicine your pet takes on a regular basis in a waterproof container.
q FIRST AID KIT. Talk to your veterinarian about what is most appropriate for your pet’s emergency medical needs.
q COLLAR WITH ID TAG AND A HARNESS OR LEASH. Include a backup leash, collar and ID tag. Have copies of your pet’s registration information and other relevant documents in a waterproof container and available electronically.
q TRAVELING BAG, crate or sturdy carrier, ideally one for each pet.
q GROOMING ITEMS. Pet shampoo, conditioner and other items, in case your pet needs some cleaning up.
q SANITATION NEEDS. Include pet litter and litter box (if appropriate), newspapers, paper towels, plastic trash bags and household chlorine bleach to provide for your pet’s sanitation needs.
q A PICTURE OF YOU AND YOUR PET TOGETHER. If you become separated from your pet during an emergency, a picture of you and your pet together will help you document ownership and allow others to assist you in identifying your pet.
q FAMILIAR ITEMS. Put favorite toys, treats or bedding in your kit. Familiar items can help reduce stress for your pet.

Cash is our 6-year-old Australian Labradoodle and the ultimate mama’s boy. Sweet, loving, and obedient, he wins everyone over—but don’t let that charm fool you. He’s a total attention hog and gets hilariously jealous if someone else is getting the spotlight. Cash believes the world revolves around him, and honestly, we let him think that most days.
