DARYL McMAHON Good evening everyone from the Chigwell Construction Stadium. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I would like to wish a warm welcome to Neil Smith, his staff and his squad ahead of this tonight’s game. On Saturday’s postponement

I was bitterly disappointed about the game being called off. The strange thing about all of it was that it was given the go ahead on Friday, when we all felt the weather was not great. It was bitterly cold, and we knew that night it was only going to get worse. It was a strange decision, but it is one of those things that sometimes happens in football.

We trained on Friday, the lads had Saturday off, and then we were back in training on the Sunday. It is nice to be able to train. It is always good to have a bit of a breather from games as well and work on things we obviously need to work on and to get together, regroup and go again. On the Notts County defeat

I can take a defeat at Notts County, that is not the problem. It is a tough place to go to and they are a very good side, but the performance was poor. It was embarrassing for me, embarrassing for the staff, and embarrassing for the players; I thought we looked scared really.

We see two or three good performances where you can see we are building something, and then

we get one of these defeats; the inconsistencies are incredible really. It is not good enough and as the manager, I take responsibility. There is a huge amount work that is needed to move the club forward, change the culture and to make people work harder. On tonight’s opposition

They are an organised team who like to get their strikers in early, with lots of balls into the box and lots of set of set pieces. It is always a physical game when we play against Bromley and they are having a decent season. We know what to expect and it is important that we perform on the day. We need to defend our box more, which is always important when we come up against a side like Bromley. It is a game that we are looking forward to. We will be looking for a positive performance from us. I think that is the most important thing. You can never fight the outcome of the game with regards to the result, but you can put in a performance that gets you that result. I think first and foremost, we need to put in a positive, and much improved, performance.

Following a spell on the sidelines due to injury, Roberts made his return in the 2019-20 season before moving to Bromley. Joe Kizzi The former Billericay Town man, 27, was named in the National League South Team of the year during the 2018-19 season, and made 40 appearances in the League, scoring five times, before making the move to The Ravens.

Mark Cousins The 34-year-old shot stopper signed for Bromley in June 2019. He spent his youth with Fulham and Colchester United, spending nine years with the Essex outfit, also enjoying loan spells at Whitton United, Staines Town, Enfield Town and Yeading. In June 2014, Cousins made the move to the Daggers and spent four years with the Club, making 126 appearances in all competitions. At the end of the 201718 season, Cousins moved to Barnet, where he spent the 2018-19 season, making a total of 53 appearances in all competitions with 20 clean sheets along the way. Tarek Najia The 19-year-old Lebanon U19 international goalkeeper began his footballing journey at Dagenham & Redbridge, before joining the Ravens on work experience in 2018. Following his departure from the Daggers, he joined the Bromley on a non-contract deal, before signing his first professional contract last season. Kory Roberts Roberts, 23, had been at Walsall having joined their Academy aged 16. He made his Football League debut in December 2016 and went on to make 20 League One appearances in the 2017-18 season. 06 THE DAGGER

Byron Webster The 33-year-old centre back arrived at Hayes Lane from Carlisle United. Webster started his career in the youth ranks of York City, and earned his first professional contract in 2004 and remained there until 2007, where he moved on to Harrogate Town. Later in the same year, Webster moved to the Czech Republic and spent two seasons with FK Banik Most, making 49 appearances and scoring four times, joining Doncaster Rovers in 2009. Following his departure, he signed for Yeovil Town, earning promotion to the Championship with the Glovers in 2013. A season in the Championship with Town then followed, before Millwall swooped to Byron Webster

secure his services in June 2014. He remained at The Den for five years, clocking up 138 appearances and scoring eight goals, before departing in January 2019 for Scunthorpe United. He remained with the Iron for the remainder of the 2018-19 season, before joining Carlisle United for the 2019-20 campaign. Jack Holland Holland started his footballing career with Bromley Youth Section before being scouted by Crystal Palace, where he went on to spend four years with the Eagles. Holland returned to Bromley permanently in 2013 and since then has gone on to make over 200 appearances for The Ravens. Chris Bush The versatile defender, who can play across the back four, joined from Ebbsfleet United hhe scored five times. The 26-year-old has represented numerous Clubs, including Brentford, AFC Wimbledon, Gateshead, Hereford United, Welling United and Lincoln City among others. Harry Forster The pacy winger, 20, signed on loan from Watford, where he signed his

first professional deal in 2018. The versatile midfielder is comfortable as a left winger, left back or attacking midfielder. Tom Purrington Having followed in the footsteps of his older brother Ben, who plays for Charlton Athletic, Tom came through the academy at Plymouth Argyle, signing his first professional deal in 2018. He also spent time on loan at Dorchester Town last season. Billy Bingham The 28-year-old central midfielder joined the Ravens after leaving Gillingham and has also represented Crystal Palace, Dagenham & Redbridge and Crewe Alexandra in the Football League. Bingham made just shy of 200 appearances between League One and Two before dropping into the National League. Frankie Raymond Raymond began his career at Reading in the youth set up and following his release in 2012 went on to sign for Gillingham on a short-term basis before joining Eastbourne Borough where he went on to make over sixty appearances. In 2014 he was signed by the Daggers and was then loaned back to Eastbourne for the remainder of the season. Following his return, Frankie went on to make over fortyeight appearances for the club until

his release at the end of the 16/17 season. Jude Arthurs Arthurs is another ex-Gills man who has featured in Bromley’s U23 side, as well as enjoying a spell with Ramsgate last season. Liam Vincent The 17-year-old has been part of the U23 side and first featured in the first team during a friendly away to Dartford during the 2019/20 season. Taylor Maloney Having started out in the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic back in 2012, Maloney went on to spend eight years with the Addicks. He earned his first professional deal at The Valley in 2017, going on to make ten first team appearances. He also enjoyed loan spells at Concord Rangers on two occasions, as well as time in League Two with Newport County, making 16 appearances and scoring three goals. Jack Bridge Bridge spent his early career at his hometown club Southend United and the 25-year-old also featured in the Football League for Northampton Town and Carlisle United. Charlie Wakefield The 22-year-old winger joined the Ravens in January, having spent the

first half of this season with Wealdstone scoring twice in 13 appearances. Charlie had previously been part of the Chelsea youth set up. He then spent time at Stevenage before joining up with Coventry City at the back end of the 2019/20 season. He featured nine times for the Sky Blues before joining Wealdstone ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. Luke Coulson As a youth player, Coulson spent ten years at Manchester City, before enrolling as a student at the University of Michigan, playing for the Michigan Wolverines. After just a month, however, Coulson made the move back to the UK when he signed for Cardiff City. After being offered a new deal at the end of the season, Coulson opted to move on in search of regular first team football and he joined Oxford City before moving to Eastleigh. Coulson’s good form continued with the Spitfires, and he was snapped up by then League Two Barnet, signing for Ebbsfleet in July 2017. Courtney Duffus Duffus joined from Yeovil Town, having scored 21 goals during his two-year spell at Huish Park. The 25year-old began his career at Everton spending five years at Goodison Park progressing through the ranks, and

Having started his career at Ipswich Town, Trotter made his first team breakthrough with the Tractor Boys, before enjoying loan spells with Millwall, Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United. He then earned a permanent move to the Lions in 2010, where he would go on to spend four seasons, consisting of 138 appearances and 24 goals. During his time with the fellow South London side, Trotter had a short loan spell with Bolton Wanderers, for whom he would sign permanently in 2014. After 57 appearances and four goals, as well as a short loan stint at Nottingham Forest, Trotter signed for AFC Wimbledon. He remained with Wimbledon until 2019, where he made the move across the pond to sign for Orange County in the USA. DAGGERS.CO.UK

BROMLEY then going onto sign first-team forms, including a loan spell at Bury during the 2014/15 season. Courtney made the switch to Oldham Athletic in July 2017 and would make a loan spell to Irish Premier League side Waterford midway through that 2017/18 campaign. He notched up 10 goals in 25 appearances for the Club, form that saw him return to Oldham before joining Yeovil in January 2019. He would go on to ply his trade in The National League with the Somerset side and joined Bromley last month. Michael Cheek The 29-year-old striker is a seasoned performer at National League level, having made his name at Heybridge Swifts, before moving on to Chelmsford City. After a successful one and a half season spell with the Clarets, which saw him score 35 goals in 66 appearances, he made the move to Braintree Town. Cheek remained with the Iron for two seasons, scoring 42 goals in 98 games. His prolific spell earned him a move to the Daggers where he spent a single season and in the summer of 2018, Cheek signed for Ebbsfleet United scoring 16 goals.

Courtney Duffus

James Alabi The former Leyton Orient man has plenty of National League experience with the Os, as well as Forest Green Rovers, Grimsby Town, Tranmere Rovers, Chester, Eastleigh and Dover Athletic. The 25-year-old powerhouse striker started his career in the youth ranks of Stoke City, before joining Celtic’s academy. Following a season in Scotland, he returned to Stoke and signed his first professional contract with the Potters in 2013, where he enjoyed numerous loan spells. In 2015, Alabi signed for Ipswich Town and he remained with the Suffolk outfit for a season

including a short stint on loan at Grimsby Town, before departing for Chester. This is where he would spend a very successful one and a half seasons, making 62 appearances and contributing with 24 goals in all competitions, joining Tranmere Rovers in July 2017. He remained at Prenton Park for the 2017-18 season and spent time with Dover Athletic on loan, before signing for Leyton Orient in 2018. Alabi was part of the Leyton Orient side who won the 2018-19 National League title earning himself a further season with the East London side, and he also enjoyed a loan spell with Eastleigh. Timi Odusina

Ben Williamson The front man featured for the Ravens in pre-season back in the summer of 2017 and since then, Williamson has represented fellow National League side Eastleigh. The 30-year-old has a wealth of Football League experience. Having started his career with Worthing, before spells with AFC Bournemouth, Hyde, Port Vale, Gillingham and Cambridge United, before making the move to the South Coast. Ben Williamson

With County looking to keep hold off the ball, the play was worked to Dion Kelly-Evans on the right and his cross was struck towards goal by Wootton with Justham again on hand to push out for a corner. Shortly after the half-hour mark, McQueen found space inside the area and swivelled to get a shot away at goal which Doyle got down well to save. Moments later, Portuguese midfielder Ruben Rodrigues picked the ball up midway inside the Daggers half running past two Daggers defenders before striking an effort which Justham couldn’t get his hands too quickly enough at his near post.

Dagenham and Redbridge fell to a 3-1 defeat away to ten-men Notts County this evening, with Matt Robinson scoring the goal for the Daggers. Following the second half comeback to secure a point away at Wrexham on Saturday, Daryl McMahon made three changes to the team with Callum Reynolds, Myles Weston and Paul McCallum coming into the side for Elliott Johnson, George Saunders and Scott Wilson.

Weston started the match brightly down the left-hand side and a deep cross from the former County man just evaded Darren McQueen coming in from the right handside. The home side found the opening goal of the contest with 10 minutes on the clock, a deep cross from the Daggers’ right-hand side found Jimmy Knowles who headed against the post, but Kyle Wootton was on hand to tap home with Notts gaining an early lead. The Magpies were looking to double their lead and Justham had to be on hand to save an effort at his near post for a corner which the Daggers number one collected easily.

Eighteen minutes into the contest, County goalkeeper Sam Slocombe had a heavy touch inside the area and McQueen was on hand to take advantage and touch the ball away from the goalkeeper winning a penalty with the keeper sent off for a lunge on the forward as he collected the ball. After a lengthy delay, thirty-nine-year-old Michael Doyle went in goal for the hosts with McCallum stepping

The Essex side were putting the home side under pressure before half-time where McQueen was denied by Doyle before McCallum had his strike blocked.

That pressure was undone when Enzio Boldewijn ran through the middle off the park playing the ball over to Wootton who curled into the far corner to hand the home side a three-nil lead before the break. Into the second half and the Daggers kept hold off possession where Liam Gordon received the ball inside the area, firing a strike at goal, but the full-backs effort flew over the cross bar.

A deep cross into the area found McCallum who headed just wide before substitute George Saunders had a strike from range which was wide off the post.

The Daggers were awarded a free kick in a good position which Saunders tried to fire underneath the wall, but the effort was blocked before Rance fired wide with a follow up effort.

Fellow substitute Scott Wilson fired into the side netting from the right after some pressure from the Daggers and on the opposite side Saunders could only strike into the hands of Doyle.

The Daggers did manage to draw one goal back in the final minute of normal time, Matt Robinson finding the back of the net. In the final seconds Saunders had a volley which flew just over the bar with the hosts seeing out the final moments to secure the three points.

“You go through fazes in your career where it is tough, you can’t shy away from it. You need to get your head down, stick together, and come through the other side.” As one of the more experienced members of the Daggers squad, Kenny Clark certainly knows what it means to play for this club, having re-signed at the Chigwell Construction Stadium towards the back end of 2018.

Across his lengthy non-league career, which has seen him suit up for the likes of Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Dartford, and Ebbsfleet United, the central defender has certainly experienced both the highs and lows of what the beautiful game has to offer, going from promotion campaigns, to featuring for clubs fighting at the wrong end of the table.

This season, which Clark admits has been tough, has seen Dagenham face up to some disappointing performances, none more so than Tuesday night’s 3-1 defeat to Notts County, a side who played with ten men for the majority of the game.

“I was extremely disappointed. I don’t think we stood up and was counted for,” admitted Clark when asked for his thoughts on that game. “I think we have let ourselves down as a group, we have let the gaffer, Gritty and Juppy down, as well as the club and the fans. “Putting things right is only going to come from us as individuals and that burning desire inside of you to want to change people’s opinions and wanting to start doing things right. It is only going to come from us sticking together and working hard. “In moments like this, you can’t shy away from it. You need to get your head down, stick together, and come through the other side.

“There is no way of shying away from it, we are in a bad position and things aren’t going well enough at the moment. There is only one way out and that is together and moving forward.” After Saturday’s postponement, the defender is ready to get back out on the pitch and put last week’s disappointment behind him.

“Goals change games and if that penalty were to have gone in with 75 minutes to go, it would have put us in a different frame of mind,” admitted Clark.

“We were gutted that Saturday’s game was called off because we wanted a game as quickly as possible. However, the pitch was frozen, and the game was off, so it meant that the focused changed to tonight’s game.

“Everyone was gobsmacked in a way. You could say people were trying but we were not working together as a team. We keep going back to it and saying it but at the moment, we are a team of

Dean Rance’s header in the dying seconds saw the Daggers claim a valuable point on the road against Wrexham in a hard-fought contest.

The Daggers came close to opening the scoring early in the game, only for Darren McQueen to turn Scott Wilson’s goal-bound effort home from an offside position.

Wrexham made no mistake moments later to take the lead, with Jamie Reckford’s shot beating Elliot Justham to the bottom corner of the net. Reece Hall-Johnson added a second for the Red Dragons before Matt Robinson managed to pull a goal back for Dagenham with 15 minutes left to play. And with seconds remaining, Rance’s close range header found the top corner, sending the Daggers back across the border with a share of the spoils.

The hosts started on the front foot and in the second minute, Justham needed to be alert to tip a long-distance Luke Young shot over the crossbar. From the resulting corner, the Daggers ‘keeper was on hand to deny Thomas’ flicked header, collecting the ball at the far post before Dan Jarvis could turn home. Despite being under the cosh early on, the visitors burst forward and in the eighth minute, were denied a penalty after Sam Deering’s shot seemed to deflect off an arm, before Matt Robinson’s follow up was rifled into the side netting.

The visitors were beginning to grow into the game and in the 14th minute, McQueen tested Dibble in the Wrexham goal, with his powerful shot from the edge of the box forcing the ‘keeper into a smart save. The Red Dragons were still proving to be dangerous up the other end of the pitch, with Young’s driven effort in the 19th minute smothered by Justham at the second attempt. In what was proving to be an action-packed half of football, both sides came within inches of taking the lead. After the Daggers cleared the ball off their own line in the 21st minute, Deering burst forward, feeding Wilson the ball, before his goal-bound effort was turned home by an offside McQueen, forcing the linesman to raise his flag.

But despite the Daggers producing the best chance of the game, the deadlock was finally broken on the half hour mark when a deep cross from Wrexham’s Reece Hall-Johnson found Reckford at the far post. With space to shoot on goal, the full back made no mistake in firing into the bottom corner of Justham’s net. Daryl McMahon’s side looked to strike back immediately, with Deering seeing his corner collected well by Dibble, before McQueen headed George Saunders’ dangerous cross just wide of the goal only moments later.

With Dagenham pressing hard in search of a leveller, the hosts almost scored their second of the day in the 40th minute. A long ball

forward found debutant Dior Angus charging through on goal but after working the ball onto his right foot, his low shot was brilliantly saved by the outstretched foot of Justham. Wrexham started the second half where they left off in the first. Only minutes in, Justham was once again on hand to deny the hosts from close range, pulling off another brilliant save to deny Thomas. However, the Daggers were still well in the game, with Deering beating his man to the ball in the 55th minute, before bursting towards the Wrexham goal and unleashing a strike which dribbled narrowly wide of Dibble’s goal.

The visitors were made to rue that miss as in the 57th minute, Wrexham extended their lead to two. A dangerous attack on the Dagenham goal saw Jarvis feed the ball to Hall-Johnson in the centre of the box, with the defender taking a touch before firing low beyond Justham. With half an hour to overturn a two-goal deficit, McMahon’s side kept up the pressure, with Paul McCallum heading Andrew Eleftheriou’s well-struck cross wide of the target.

But as they started to throw bodies at the Wrexham goal, gaps in the Dagenham defence were starting to show, with Wrexham finding space to counter at Justham’s goal, only for some excellent defending to deny the Red Dragons a chance that looked to have cut the Daggers back line in two.

With the game entering the final 15 minutes, McMahon’s men managed to reduce the Wrexham lead to one. Myles Weston, substituted on at half time, bullied his was past two defenders on the touchline, before feeding the ball to Robinson on the edge of the area, with his side footed shot too much for the Wrexham ‘keeper to deal with. It was all Dagenham now as the game entered the final five minutes, with the Wrexham defence unable to maintain control of the ball in their own half. But once again, with so many bodies forward, the Red Dragons were almost able to capitalise on the extra space, with the fingertips of Justham and the boot of Eleftheriou keeping the Daggers hopes alive. McCallum almost levelled the score for Dagenham one minute into extra time, but he got his head under the ball, sending his attempt well over the crossbar.

However, with seconds left in the game, the Daggers made the breakthrough to secure a point, with Weston’s dizzying run and cross finding the head of Rance, whose header from close range found the back of the net from close range. DAGGERS.CO.UK

The Daggers operate a 250 club which is run by the members of the Support the Daggers fund. Supporters are asked to pledge £5.00 a month, with the opportunity to win cash sums of £100.00, £50.00 and £25.00. There is also the opportunity to win huge sums of money at Christmas! You can win sums of £1000.00, £500.00 and £250.00 in our annual prize draw! The monthly draw will be made at the last home game of every month and the close season will see the draw being made on the last Sunday of every month. When this isn't possible, the draw is conducted on zoom or at the club at the end of the month! The Grand annual draw will be made at the nearest game to Christmas. Hopefully, existing members will continue their support and will automatically be renewed when subscribing in the same way as they have before. There is, however, a number of vacancies and new members are welcomed.

There are two ways to make your payment to the Daggers fund; you can either pay £5 monthly or a £60 annual fund by monthly standing order. All members will then be allocated a number and members may hold more than one share. An application form can be completed online, simply download the 250 Club Membership Form and return a completed form to web@daggers.co.uk Every pound raised goes straight to the Football Club. This fundraising scheme runs for 12 months of the year, thus helping the Club even during the close season. The fund has raised £190,000 for the football club since its inception.
