President’s Message By Jack LaVigne President District 16 USA1 – World Champions he 47th World Bridge Team Championships and the 14th Transnational Open Teams have concluded. Congratulations to USA1 for winning the Bermuda Bowl! Details can be found in the article later in this issue. District 16 Website After Ken Monzingo retired as the District 16 Webmaster, I asked Beth Tobias and Ken MacMoran to assist in managing the site. Ken quickly identified a major issue; our existing website was not responsive, meaning it didn’t adjust properly when viewed on tablets or phones. Around the same time, Evvie Gilbert (our Scorecard Editor and Contact Administrator) discovered that the company hosting our domain, d16acbl.org, had transitioned from JustHost to Bluehost. Since Bluehost includes free website publishing tool, this opened the door for us to modernize the District 16 site. Beth, Ken, and Evvie formed a District 16 Web Team and developed a responsive website prototype using the Bluehost platform. Their draft was presented to the Executive Committee, which approved the

concept and encouraged them to move forward with a full redesign. Since that meeting graphic artist, Sue Caufield, joined the team. The result is our new District 16 website: https://district.d16acbl.org/ This was an arduous task, but I think you’ll agree that the team did a magnificent job. Please take a few minutes to explore the new site – it’s attractive, functional, and works beautifully on mobile devices. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Sergio Mendivil, who served as our technical webmaster for the previous site. Sergio’s responsiveness was remarkable – whenever changes were needed, he implemented them almost instantaneously. Thank you, Sergio, for your dedicated service to District 16. Chair/Coordinator Changes A heartfelt thank you to Rachel Jackson for her outstanding service as our Policy and Procedure Editor over the past several years. During my term, Rachel introduced an innovative improvement – dividing the manual into two complementary parts: Policies and Procedures and Job Descriptions.
