17. COLOURS AS YOU AGE As you age and your skin naturally starts to change in texture and colour, you will find that the lighter colours in your palette will flatter you best. The darker tones in your palette, if worn on the top half of your body, will enhance any darkness or lines on your face and neck.

18. COLOURS TO AVOID To determine your skin tone type, we analyse the undertones of your skin, which are either warm or cool-toned. As you are fundamentally warm-toned, wearing cool tone colours next to your face will not complement your skin tone.

18. AVOID The following colours are to be avoided on the top half of your clothing.

If you adore these colours and feel compelled to wear them do so on the bottom half of your outfits and in your accessories. This is because colours have the most impact on your complexion that are worn closer towards your face.

18. IN HARMONY When you are not working in harmony with who you are, you are not letting your complexion shine and light up in the ways that it can. It’s not that these colours will necessarily look bad, they just will not make you look your best.

19. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WARM & COOL So, how can you spot the difference between warm and cool colours when you’re shopping?

19. COOL OR WARM The best way to go about this is to compare the garment with another similar item. For instance, in the shop you might find two green tops: an olive green top and a mint green top. If you put these two garments next to each other, by comparing the two colours you can establish which one is cool and which is warm toned.

19. COOL OR WARM If you’re still not sure, find silver and gold jewellery in the shop and use this as a guide next to the garment. If the garments looks better with gold jewellery or hardware then the item is warm toned. Conversely if the item looks better with silver, then it is cool toned.

19. COOL OR WARM Purple is a combination of blue and red - this purple has a higher quantity of blue than red, therefore looks best on cool toned skin.

This purple has a higher quantity of red compared to blue, therefore looks best on warm toned skin. Green is made from combining yellow and blue - this green has a higher quantity of blue than yellow. Colours with a blue base look better on cool toned skin.

To contrast, this green has a higher quantity of yellow compared to blue, and therefore looks better on warm toned skin.

20 . COLOUR PSYCHOLOGY Did you know that colour has an impact on our emotions, behaviours and perceptions? What if we were to apply this to our clothing? You can use this to either evoke a certain feeling within yourself, or use it as a form of communication with other people.
