Music Education Six Years in a Row
The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award is a signature program of The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation that recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education. Since the 2019-2020 school year, Broward County Public Schools has received this recognition for 6 consecutive years.
The All Broward County Honor Music Concert Series
The All Broward County Honor Music Concert Series is a 4-night event. It consists of Concert Bands, Orchestras, Choirs, and Jazz Bands. Broward County student musicians and their clinicians rehearse for several days as an ensemble and then hold their performance here at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. All performances are free, open to the public, and start at 6:30 PM. Tonight is the third performance in our series. The first performance was on January 28, 2026, by the All Broward County Honor Bands. Our second performance will held on February 18, 2026 by the All Broward County Honor Choirs. The final performance in the series for the 2025-2026 school year be February 25, 2026 featuring the All Broward County Honor Orchestras.

We are excited to announce that we will be holding the second annual Elementary Music Showcase Concert on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Charles W. Flanagan High School.

Florida Music Education Association
All-State Music Ensembles
Every year, the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) holds the All-State Music Event in Tampa, FL. It is a host to 23 All-State Ensembles featuring Florida's top Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Guitar, Orff, and Popular Music students conducted by world-class conductors and teachers. It is attended by more than 15,000 people, including secondary music directors, elementary music teachers, music supervisors, college students, college music teachers, school administrators, K-12 students performing in the AllState ensembles, students and professional musicians performing with invited performing ensembles, exhibitors, and parents and family members of performing students.
We are proud to recognize and award our Broward Band students who participated in the All-State Band Ensembles. These students will be recognized throughout the concert. Congratulations to these outstanding musicians.

Middle School Honor Jazz Band
Conductor Monica Leimer
Monica Leimer is currently serving as the Director of Bands at DeLand High School in Volusia County. Her program is fully comprehensive with over 350 students enrolled in daily band classes. The band program at DeLand consists of a non-competitive marching band, 3 concert bands, 4 jazz bands, and winter guard, as well as various chamber ensembles, jazz combos, and percussion ensembles that meet outside of class. She is a proud alumnus of the Florida State University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Music Education.
Ms. Leimer is in her 25th year as a professional music educator and currently serves on the FBA Jazz and Adjudication Committees. Additionally, she is an active clinician and adjudicator for Concert, Marching, Solo & Ensemble, and Jazz Music Performance Assessments. Bands under her direction consistently receive Superior ratings at District and State MPAs and have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall (NYC), Symphony Center (Chicago), the Jazz Educators National Conference (New Orleans), the London New Years Parade, the Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC. She was recently awarded the Andrew J. Crew Award for 5 years of consecutive Superior ratings at State Concert MPA and her band program was recognized as a 2025-26 NBA National Blue Ribbon Program of Excellence winner for the Southern Division - the only program in Florida to receive this recognition.
Ms. Leimer is also a proud band mom. Her son James is a senior horn player in the Marching 100 and Wind Symphony at Florida A&M University, majoring in history education. Her daughter Maddie is a senior drum major in the DeLand High School Band where she plays flute & piccolo in the Wind Ensemble, lead tenor in the top jazz band, and bass in the 3rd jazz band. They currently reside in DeLand, Florida with their 5 cats - Molly, Elsa, Percy, Dmitri, and Luxie.

2026 Superintendent's Advanced Academics Studio Art Exhibition
Broward County Public Schools and the Coral Springs Museum of Art are pleased to present the “2026 Superintendent's Advanced Academics Studio Art Exhibition!” The exhibition showcases original artwork of 2025-2026 high school Advanced Academics Studio Art students. The physical exhibition will be on view at the Coral Springs Museum from March 4, 2026 to March 21, 2026.

Jason Anderson
Conductor
Jason G.M. Anderson is the Director of Jazz Studies at the Osceola County School for the Arts in Kissimmee, Florida. Mr. Anderson is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied with legendary saxophonists Bill Pierce, George Garzone, Andy McGhee, and master technician Joe Viola. After college, Mr. Anderson was selected by the U.S. State Department to perform as a Jazz Ambassador to North and West Africa, promoting awareness and appreciation of the jazz tradition.
Mr. Anderson has toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Illinois Jacquet Big Band and has performed with many internationally recognized artists including Robert Glasper, Natalie Cole, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, Nicholas Payton, Elliot Mason, Cyrus Chestnut, Jimmy Greene, Adam Rapa, Ashlin Parker, Jeremy Pelt, and Miguel Zenón.
In addition to his performance career, Mr. Anderson is also an in-demand arranger and educator. He was hired as Director of Jazz Studies at OCSA in August 2021. Since taking over the program, Mr. Anderson has grown the OCSA Jazz to four ensembles spanning grades 7–12 and has led the program to national prominence. Under his direction, OCSA’s top jazz ensemble has earned five finalist appearances at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition, including firstplace finishes in both 2022 and 2023. Mr. Anderson continues to perform regularly with his wife, jazz vocalist and educator Monica Lynk Anderson.
