Do you know how many bad things there are in this world, well I learned it all! I learned about how bad smoking can be and I also learned how to avoid bad situations. Because of D.A.R.E, when I'm older and someone asks me to do something bad, I know exactly how to respond! D.A.R.E is lessons we took in our class that taught us things that are bad for us, how to communicate, what to do when you are stressed, how to deal with bullying, and a lot more. D.A.R.E stands for De ne, Assess, Respond, and Evaluate. D.A.R.E taught me how to deal with hard stuff in life, especially in middle school and high school, and it will help me a lot because this is what I learned! To start, In D.A.R.E, I learned that there are many bad effects that happen to your body when you smoke or do drugs. For example, smoking causes yellow teeth and smelly breath, and no one likes that. Cigarettes contain Nicotine, a powerful substance that causes addiction so once you start cigarettes it's hard to stop. There are a lot of harmful chemicals in cigarettes and smoking can even give you lung cancer. So can alcohol. Alcohol slows down the brain and body and causes memory loss and re exes. I also learned that if your friend is pressuring you into doing something you don’t want to do, but you don’t want to make them sad don’t do it if they’re pressuring you into doing something then they are not a good friend, make an excuse or just walk away. There is a lot of bad situations that can happen and there is a lot of ways to avoid them such as making excuses, telling a trusted adult, just saying no, waking away, avoiding the situation, hang out with people who don’t do drugs, or changing the subject. To keep it going, D.A.R.E. also taught me how to communicate. Sometimes I can be shy and talk quiet, but D.A.R.E taught me to stand straight, be con dent and talk clear. People might tell me to do something that I don’t want to do but if I talk clearly and tell them I don’t want to do that I won't have to. There is also tattling, reporting, and telling. When tattling your telling stuff that is not important, to avoid just mind your business and ignore. Telling is providing important information to a trusted adult which means it's not tattling its telling, trying to keep someone safe. And last is reporting when you need help from a trusted adult to keep you safe from bullying or other situations, reporting is not silly or tattle tailing if you need help or know you need to let someone know you must report it somebody will help you. If I ever need help, I shouldn't be scared to ask for help. I always have a bunch of trusted adults to help me and if I need it, I should get it. To nish, make safe and responsible choices like, if someone wants to copy my homework and I don’t feel good about it, I don’t have to, it’s my homework and I shouldn’t let someone else take it. And I could be in a situation where I have two events and I want to go to both, make time for both go to one for a little then go to the other. There is also choosing between what you're supposed to do or what you want to do. Don’t do the wrong thing, do what you're supposed to do, it's not worth it getting in trouble, I would rather do the right thing rst, then do something I want to do. There could be a situation where your friend wants to do something bad, but you don’t want to, don’t do it it's not worth it, and when you get in trouble you won't like it, it's better to do what's right. It's always good to make the right choice and it's always worth it. This lesson was a great lesson and a great lesson to learn and remember! D.A.R.E was awesome, and I learned a lot of things to help me when I'm older and things just to know. D.A.R.E taught me and my classmates many things such as don’t do drugs, make good decisions and always do the right thing. D.A.R.E was fun, and I had a great of cer to teach me it all! By Mila Chung
You have probably heard of D.A.R.E but let me remind you D. A. R. E stands for drug abuse resistance education. In the D.A.R.E program I have learned the importance of drug resistance and how to avoid a stressful situation along with how to say no to peer pressure, it’s all about D.A.R.E. The rst thing I learned was nicotine, nicotine is a substance in vapes or cigarettes or in any other drug. Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances that people consume, but nicotine is bad for you like any other addictive drug, it affects the heart and lungs and gives you yellow teeth. Though people don’t care and still smoke almost up to 2 packs of cigarettes a DAY, and once Apon a time where Docters prescribed cigarettes to patients with heart burn or anxiety but later it worsened or led to death of lung or heart cancer. If you're addicted to nicotine, it's ne, people can help you only if YOU want to. If you're addicted to nicotine, then there's a special patch you get that gives you a certain amount of nicotine a day, now why would you want more nicotine? Well, your body would want more because it felt comfortable, they would give you less and less nicotine a day until eventually you're off it. Nicotine is an addictive drug but it's no match for the D.A.R.E program To add on then second the next thing I learned was body language, body language is another form of communication that helps a lot when you're in a stressful situation. When you use bad body language it shows you're not a con dent person and that helps people manipulate you or pressure you. But if you show con dent body language sitting up straight, looking into persons eyes they will pay more attention or know you mean business. Body language is very important because it shows your character and how you will process things in manipulative situations, it shows if you mean business or not. people will also respect you more if you Show good body language! For my next thought D.A.R.E taught me how to avoid dangerous situations, if you're in a tough situation then there's always a choice. If you're near a group of drug users and they approach you asking if you want to smoke, then just say no this is called peer pressure it's when somebody on your level wants you to do something you don’t want to do you get pressured because you think it's only what the “cool kids” do and give in but it's not. People suffer from peer pressure but sometimes it is good, like when your mother wants you to take a chance at something. If you get it right, you get positive feedback pure pressure can have good and adverse effects, but it's up to you to spot it out if its good or bad. To move on, we also learned about bullying, bullying is when someone verbally or physically hurts you for a long period of time. People often get bullied at school where there's a crowd to watch. Bullys is used for many ways either it’s a way to gain popularity or make them feel better about themselves. People often watch and let it happen mainly because they're scared it could happen to them or they will be called a “snitch "or “tattle tale,” but there's a difference between tattling and telling. Tattling is where you tell someone to get them in trouble for doing something that doesn’t affect them. Telling is where there's a dangerous situation and you NEED to tell an adult the people that have these choices are called bystanders. Bystanders are people who watch something bad happen and let it happen. Bystanders have a choice to tell an adult or let bullying happen. Bullying is bad so make sure you tell someone TRUSTED, not the cashier in Walmart, a TRUSTED adult. bullies beware D.A.R.E is here In conclusion I learned so much bout D.A.R.E and how it can help you with con dence, and body, language, bullies and also with how to say no to pesky peer pressure D.A.R.E is an amazing program with amazing people like Darren the lion, Micheal, josh, So a, and Darryl were so good at keeping it real.
