The 2026–27 season invites audiences of all ages to experience the joy of live performance. Broadway icon Bernadette Peters opens the season in spectacular style with the American Festival Pops Orchestra, followed by Grammy Award winner Kathy Mattea hosting a live taping of Mountain Stage. Merchant Hall resonates with the harmonies of the Vienna Boys Choir and five-time Grammy Award–winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Theater takes the spotlight with The Acting Company’s staging of Great Expectations, while guitar virtuosity shines as three-time Grammy Award winner Sharon Isbin performs with Spain’s Concerto Málaga.

Thrilling movements captivate as Cirque Éloize electrifies with high-energy circus arts, Trinity Irish Dance Company reimagines step dance with contemporary flair, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet honors the music of David Bowie in a rock-opera–inspired production.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet

Broadway icon Bernadette Peters launches the Hylton Presents 2026–27 season with an intimate and unforgettable evening of music, stories, and her signature charm. Celebrated for her multi-awardwinning legendary career on stage and screen, Peters performs Broadway favorites and American standards. She is joined onstage by musicians from the American Festival Pops Orchestra. Praised by The New York Times as “Broadway’s brightest star” and “a performer of rare grace and emotional power,” Peters makes her much-anticipated Hylton Center debut in a dazzling season-opening event.

From former Alvin Ailey dancers Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richards, “two of the greatest virtuosos to emerge from Ailey” (The New York Times), Complexions Contemporary Ballet thrills with its cadre of 16 stunning dancers. Their debut Hylton Center program opens with selections from Retro-Suite, a series of short works celebrating 30 years as a company, and the second half is Star Dust, a transfixing tribute to the life and music of David Bowie. Inspired by his unique personas, this ballet takes an array of Bowie's hits and artistically creates a rock opera style production in his honor. Get ready to witness the raw power and diversity of Complexions as it redefines what ballet can be.

Mountain Stage Hosted by Kathy Mattea

Grammy Award winner and West Virginia native Kathy Mattea returns to the Hylton Center’s Merchant Hall to host another live taping of Mountain Stage. For over 40 years, Mountain Stage has given radio listeners the “best seat in the house” for performances by rising stars and longtime legends. Recorded in front of a live audience, the two-hour episode features contemporary artists in genres ranging from roots, folk, blues, and country to indie rock, synth pop, world music, alternative, and beyond. Witness the stars of today and tomorrow in this on-the-road taping of one of the most enduring programs in public radio history. Guest artists to be announced at a later time. Mountain Stage is produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and distributed by NPR Music.

This performance will be taped live for radio broadcast and is recommended for patrons ages 7 and older.

Acting Company Great Expectations

Adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens Directed by Devin Brain

The Acting Company is back with a high-spirited stage adaptation brimming with unexpected merriment and romantic heart. Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations follows the harrowing journey of working-class orphan Pip as he navigates a challenging upbringing, newfound wealth in high-society London, and a relationship with the wealthy and eccentric Miss Havisham and her stunning daughter Estella. Nikki Massoud’s take on this uproarious, thrilling, and surprisingly relatable story will keep audiences of all ages on the edge of their seats.

Keyboard Conversations ® with Jeffrey Siegel

Popular Piano Classics

Internationally acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Siegel returns with his Keyboard Conversations® concerts with commentary—an engaging blend of virtuosic performance and illuminating commentary—featuring masterpieces by Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, and Gershwin. A program praised for its “Pianistic eloquence with a special gift for commentary” (The Washington Post), enjoy an afternoon with Siegel that is a must-see experience for both first-time listeners and devoted classical music lovers. The concert will conclude with a short Q&A with the audience.

Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra To Swing Through the Sky

Conceived and written by Paul Glenshaw

Celebrate the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra’s 25th anniversary, with a multimedia performance exploring the parallel histories of two great American innovations, jazz and flight. This dynamic work blends music, theatrical elements, dance, and striking visuals.

The performance includes songstress Darden Purcell, former vocalist with The U.S. Air Force Band. Led by founder, artistic director, and virtuoso saxophonist Jim Carroll, the orchestra showcases some of the region’s finest jazz musicians.

George Mason University’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative is proud to provide free tickets for Veterans and Servicemembers, available in person at the Hylton Center Ticket Office with ID (up to two tickets each). Tickets for this performance are made possible in part by a grant from The Amazon Prince William County Community Fund.

Ju Percussion Group

A leading force in Taiwan's classical percussion scene, Ju Percussion Group makes its debut at the Hylton Center in Energy Infinite. Founded over 30 years ago, Ju Percussion Group blends traditional and contemporary influences, fusing Asian and Western cultures through inspiring music. In Energy Infinite, Ju Percussion Group presents music by composers from both Taiwan and abroad, including the powerful BeyonD the bEnd by American composer Gene Koshinski, and Solar Myth by Taiwanese composer Chiung-Ying Chang, a work inspired by indigenous legends and driven by strong theatrical tension and dramatic intensity. With more than 286 original commissions, and performances in venues across the globe, Ju Percussion Group displays the vitality of percussion music, leaving audiences in awe.

Chanticleer

A Chanticleer Christmas

The holidays shine brighter when Grammy Award-winning Chanticleer brings holiday merriment to Merchant Hall in A Chanticleer Christmas. The “world’s reigning male chorus” (The New Yorker) inspires with a rich and diverse program of both early works and holiday classics, spanning traditional carols through gospel numbers. Since 1978, Chanticleer has cultivated an expansive following— performing thousands of live concerts and selling more than one million albums. With 12 expressive voices ranging from countertenor to bass, blended with precision, clarity, and breathtaking beauty, this is the “one Christmas concert to rule them all” (San Francisco Classical Voice).

Seán Heely’s Celtic Christmas

U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion and vocalist Seán Heely is back by popular demand with a performance that captures the charm and mystery of a Celtic Yuletide. One of the most creatively versatile performers of his generation, Heely has been hailed by Irish fiddle legend Liz Carroll as “one powerhouse of a fiddler.” Take a musical winter journey through the Scottish Highlands, with Gaelic carols and songs tucked in perfectly alongside Irish tunes, and familiar Christmas melodies with a Celtic twist. Lively fiddle and bagpipes as well as featured dances from Scottish and Irish traditions lift holiday spirits and hearts in this magical evening.

American Festival Pops Orchestra

Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season

The American Festival Pops Orchestra (AFPO) continues its tradition of spreading musical good will and cheer in this annual favorite! Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season returns under the baton of Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Wilson, U.S. Marine Veteran with 30 years of military service as a violinist and as senior enlisted music advisor to The White House. The AFPO comprises more than 60 professional musicians, including faculty members from George Mason University’s Dewberry School of Music, as well as instrumentalists from U.S. Armed Forces music ensembles and premier local orchestras. Enjoy a festive musical evening of seasonal favorites for the entire family.

Vienna Boys Choir

Christmas in Vienna

Experience the magic of the Vienna Boys Choir in this much-awaited return holiday season concert. Renowned worldwide for their pure sound and technical mastery, this cherubic ensemble features talented soprano and alto boy vocalists from 31 countries, ages 10 to 14. With a tradition spanning six centuries, the choir boasts musical luminaries Joseph Haydn and Franz Schubert among its alumni. Cirque Éloize ID-Evolution

For more than 30 years, Cirque Éloize has captivated audiences by blending high-energy circus arts with dynamic music and urban dance. ID-Evolution marks an exciting new chapter for Cirque Éloize, inspired by their beloved show, ID. While honoring the original, ID-Evolution presents a vibrant energy designed to captivate and engage a new generation of audience members, all while preserving the playful and poetic spirit that defines Cirque Éloize.
