Dr. McCarty Participates in Capitol Hill Sports Medicine Briefing
Dr. McCarty joined national leaders on Capitol Hill to discuss the evolving landscape of athletics and the future of athlete healthcare. Hosted by the AAOS in collaboration with AOSSM and the Professional Sports Physician Coalition (PSPC), the briefing highlighted the importance of protecting athlete access to quality medical care, preserving physician independence, and ensuring continuity of care across state lines. Dr. McCarty emphasized the vital role team physicians play in athlete health, noting, "If we lose the physicians willing to serve athletes, we put athlete health at risk."

Dr. Changstrom and Team Publish on Updated Sports Medicine CAQ Blueprint
Dr. Changstrom and colleagues recently published two articles in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine related to the updated Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM)
Certification Blueprint: "An Update to the Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine Certification Blueprint" and "Developing Content Weights for the 2026 Sports Medicine Blueprint." Together, the publications describe the development of the revised blueprint and the methodology used to establish content weighting for the 2026 Sports Medicine Certification Examination.
Presentations & Speaking Engagements
In June, Larry Vo, nurse practitioner with Dr. Seidl's team, presented at the University of Colorado School of Medicine's Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Grand Rounds. His presentation, "Is It Just Angry...or Actually Torn? Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy vs Tear," was delivered to Advanced Practice Providers across UCHealth and focused on differentiating rotator cuff tendinopathy from rotator cuff tears. The session highlighted evidencebased clinical decision-making, rehabilitation pathways, operative indications, and effective patient counseling to help APPs optimize the evaluation and management of shoulder pathology. Great job Larry!
Anthony Pass, Associate AD/Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer with CU football, presented at the ENOVIS Athletic Training & Sports Medicine Seminar in San Diego, June 25–27. His presentation was titled "Working with Student-Athlete Agents in Intercollegiate Athletics." Great job AP!
