When you enter the building, you will be in the Foyer. Our Foyer is one big circle which wraps around two of our performance spaces – the Theatre and the Studio Theatre.
As you make your way around the Foyer, you will notice lots of large pictures on the big red walls. This is our production gallery, and features pictures from our previous productions.
A number of automatic hand sanitiser points are available around the building. To use these points, simply hold your hand beneath the dispenser.
Push dispensers are also available around the building.
Before the show, there will be some loud announcements in the Foyer telling you how long it is until the show begins, and other useful information about your visit. These will be at a quieter level during this performance.
It may also be noisy in the Foyer as other audience members will be arriving to see the show. You might like to cover your ears or wear a pair of ear defenders during this time.

In the Foyer inside the Rutland Street doors, you will find our Box Office. If you need to collect physical versions of your tickets, this is where you need to go.
There may be a small queue at the Box Office, so you might need to wait a few minutes.
In the Foyer you will also find our Green Room Café.
Here you can buy a drink, snack or ice cream to enjoy before the performance.

If you need to use the toilet before you take your seats, there are male, female and accessible toilets near the Green Room Café and Box Office. There is an additional accessible toilet outside Theatre Door 3. There are also genderneutral toilets on the Mezzanine floor. The hand dryers in the toilets will be switched off, and paper towels will be provided.

There is a Changing Places Facility with adult hoist on the Ground Floor next to Theatre Door 4. Please note you will need to bring your own hoist straps to use this facility.
You will be watching the performance in our Studio Theatre. Here is a picture of the seats in the Studio Theatre. This is where you will sit to watch the performance.
Your ticket will tell you which door to enter through – Studio Theatre Door 1 or 6 - and where to sit, based on a row letter and seat number.
A member of our Visitor Experience Team can help you find the right door and your seat by looking at the letters and numbers on your ticket.
They will be wearing black shirts and/or fleeces with a colourful Curve logo.
When you enter the Studio Theatre, the lights will be on and it will be noisy as the audience will be getting ready to watch the show. You might like to cover your ears or wear your ear defenders to soften the noise, or bring a comfort toy to play with before the performance starts.
To access most rows in the Studio Theatre, you will need to take a number of steps.
When entering at the Stage Level via Studio Theatre Doors 1 or 6, there are 28 steps from the stage to Row P at the back of the theatre, with two steps between each row.
You will need to pull the bottom of your seat down to sit on it.
Booster seats are available if you can’t see the stage comfortably, and a member of our Visitor Experience Team can get one for you.
They will also be happy to help you with anything else you may need to enjoy the performance.
When the show is about to start, the lights in the Theatre will be dimmed but it will never go completely dark. They will remain on at a lowlevel throughout the performance.
The space will become quiet, so the audience can listen to the story and music.
If you would like a break from the performance, you might like to visit our designated Chill Space on the Mezzanine (Level M).
Everyone is welcome to visit our Chill Space before, during or after the performance.
When the show has finished, the cast will come back onto the stage and bow. The audience will clap to show the cast they enjoyed the performance.
At the end of the show, the lights will get brighter. You can leave the Studio Theatre when you are ready to.
Useful Information
The running time for the performance is 1 hour and 40 minutes. There will be a 20 minute interval, which means there will be a break during the show.
Dog Man: The Musical is based on the book series of the same name by Dav Pilkey. You might have read this at home!

Dog Man: The Musical - The Story and Sensory moments
Spoiler Alert!
Below is a summary of the story, which means we tell you what will happen during the show. This might be helpful to know before you come to the theatre, but if you want the story to be a surprise then we suggest you don’t read these pages. Please don’t share these with other people as they might want the surprise too.

Before the show begins, there will be a pre-recorded announcement by the author of the Dog Man books, Dav Pilkey, to introduce the performance and remind everyone to switch off their phones.
The show begins with music and the stage becomes dark. The lights will flash blue and then come back on to reveal George and Harold in their treehouse.
George and Harold decide to write Dog Man: The Musical and begin writing while gentle music plays.
While they describe the city, where Dog Man: The Musical is set, we hear car horns.
They then sing a song called The Opening Number. During this song, more characters come on stage as citizens of the city.
Petey, a mischievous cat, begins stealing things and upsetting the citizens. When Petey holds a hoover up in the air, a chainsaw sound effect plays.
Petey then sings a song called Petey. There are flashing, colourful lights during the song.
At the Police Station, we meet Chief, Officer Knight and Greg the Dog. Greg barks back whenever someone speaks to him.
On the streets of the city, Officer Knight and the Dog find a bomb and try to defuse it. He cuts a wire and we hear some buzzer sound effects.
The bomb then explodes and smoke fills the stage, along with flashing lights and siren sound effects.
At the Hospital, the Doctors save Officer Knight and the Dog, by putting them together!
They sing a song called Dog Man. Colourful lights flash again during this song.
Back at the Police Station and Chief are preparing Dog Man to be a hero and look after the city.
The stage then transitions into Cat Jail where Petey is doing time for his crimes.
They sing a song called Revenge. Petey escapes jail by floating away with a bunch of balloons.
In Petey’s Secret Lab, Petey sets up a cloning device to try and take down Dog Man. The device creates a clone called L’il Petey.
L’il Petey thinks Petey is their papa and Petey becomes angry at this. This makes L’il Petey sad and they start crying.
At The Supa Awesome Science Center Over There, Dog Man meets some Doctors who are studying animals.
They then sing a song about Flippy the Fish that they bring back to life.
The Doctors then leave the room, leaving Dog Man alone. A bird flies through the window and takes Flippy the Fish away!
During this moment a spotlight will light up over the bird and some jingly music will play while Dog Man chases them around the room.
Back in Petey’s Secret Lab, Petey and L’il Petey are building a robot, part of their plan to beat Dog Man.
They then sing a song called Happy Song/ 80-HD.
On the streets, Petey tries to get rid of L’il Petey and leaves them alone. L’il Petey meets Dog Man.
They sing a song called The Perfect Mash-up. There is also thunder and lightning in this song, lights will flash and there will be loud thunder sounds.
Dog Man lets L’il Petey stay with him. As they enter Dog Man’s home, there are flashing lights at the back of the stage. There are then coloured lights that gently flash as the characters dance.
Back at Petey’s Secret Lab, Petey is still working on his robot. He sings a song called Without Me.
During this song, the robot begins to work and Petey sends it out to bring L’il Petey back home.
At The Living Spray Factory, the bird flies in and drops Flippy the Fish into a smoke stack, causing an explosion.
There will be a loud bang noise and the stage will fill with smoke as Flippy rises from the machine. Flippy sings about Revenge. Harold and George are called down for their lunch, the story will continue once they’ve eaten!
That is the end of Act One, it is now the interval.
When Act Two begins, music will play and the lights will come up to reveal Harold and George.
Flippy sings a song called I’m Back. There are flashing, colourful lights during this song.
The Living Spray Factory and buildings come to life! Lights flash as this happens. Flippy uses them to create an army.
Back at Petey’s Secret Lab, Petey and L’il Petey are back together. L’il Petey misses Dog Man. Petey tries to teach L’il Petey how to be evil.
They both sing a song called The Evil ABC’s.
L’il Petey gets into the robot and they sing a song called Robo-Dance Party! There are flashing, colourful lights in this song.
Dog Man is searching for L’il Petey on the streets. The buildings are coming their way and Dog Man prepares to take them on.
Everyone sings a song called Dog Man is Go while Harold and George think about how Dog Man will beat the buildings. Lights flash. Flippy and Dog Man go head to head.
Over at Petey’s Secret Lab, L’il Petey is still having a Robo-Dance Party.
Coloured lights flash. L’il Petey leaves Petey to help Dog Man and beats the buildings!
Flippy is angry that they beat the buildings and uses their powers to control L’il Kitty’s mind.
Petey tells L’il Petey to go with Dog Man to stay safe. Petey then sings a song called A Far, Far Better Thing.
Flippy arrives and uses her mind powers to send Petey to the volcano. Lights flash around the volcano.
L’il Petey and Dog Man rush to save him and we learn that Flippy is only doing these things because they feel nobody likes them. L’il Petey helps them feel better and Flippy decides to be good.
We see Dog Man flying through the sky to save Petey from the volcano. The stage glows red when Dog Man goes into the volcano.
Everyone sings a song called The Happy Ending (Happy Song Reprise). They all have a dance and that’s the end of the show! We hope you enjoyed Dog Man: The Musical!
Meet the Cast
