ason Max Ferdinand's brief reflec2on captures the challenges that confront us at every turn and reminds us of the task to which we are called - working together to provide the hope and relief for which so many long. This month, we welcome Ferdinand and his Jason Max Ferdinand Singers (pictured above) on October 8 (7pm) in concert and on October 9 (11am) in worship. And, as we seek to open our arms wide to the community, we welcome the WinstonSalem Girls' Chorus and the Winston-Salem State University Singing Rams as they present a 30-minute concert prelude (October 8, 6:30pm). Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to this weekend, which seeks to build community and to bind us together. In these pages, you'll find further evidence of a music and arts ministry seeking to widen its welcome. As we celebrate a successful grand opening of our Atrium Gallery, which aWracted nearly 70 community members in September, we welcome in October and November the pain2ngs, photographs, and sculptures from an ever-growing group of ar2sts whom Centenary is proud to call our own. Read on to learn about the cri2cal work of our Community Kindermusik Collabora2ve, a Centenary crea2on which uses the Kindermusik curriculum to enrich the lives of the youngest among us while also cul2va2ng rela2onships that reach across oZen impermeable cultural boundaries of all sorts. The JMF Singers will conclude 11am worship on October 9 with these words from Nathan Carter's arrangement of Someday: "But this I know, if Jesus leads me, I shall get home someday." In par2cular moments of transcendent beauty, we oZen find ourselves transported to places of peace and inspira2on. Perhaps this is a glimpse of home. Perhaps, as we create expressions of relief and experience glimmers of hope, we are on our way. Perhaps, together, we are already homeward bound.
