CALL TO WORSHIP We come together to worship the God of boundless compassion. Lord, open our hearts to your presence. We come as people who have received grace we did not deserve. Lord, open our hearts to your mercy. We come knowing that your love reaches farther than we can imagine. Lord, open our hearts to your call. This is the God we worship — a God who pursues the lost, redeems the broken, and whose compassion knows no boundary. Then let us worship — for His mercy endures forever!

With God’s help we will proclaim the good news and live according to the example of Christ. CANTICLE There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy — Calvin Hampton There’s a wideness in God’s mercy like the wideness of the sea; there’s a kindness in his justice, which is more than liberty. There is welcome for the sinner, and more graces for the good; there is mercy with the Savior; there is healing in his blood. There is no place where earth’s sorrows are more felt than up in heaven; there is no place where earth’s failings have such kindly judgment given. There is plentiful redemption in the blood that has been shed; there is joy for all the members in the sorrows of the Head. For the love of God is broader than the measure of the mind; and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. If our love were but more faithful, we should take him at his word; and our life would be thanksgiving for the goodness of the Lord.

What gain is there in futile weeping, in helpess anger and distress? If you are in God’s care and keeping, in sorrow will God love you less? For Christ who took for you a cross will bring you safe through every loss. Be still, be still, and wait God’s pleasure in cheerful hope, with heart content, trusting that grace which knows no measure will by unbounded Love be sent; nor doubt our inmost wants are clear to One who holds us always near.
