“Throughout my life I have consistently struggled with fnding a place where I truly “belong”. Whether it be friends, school, or even just an outing with my parents - no matter what, I have always felt as if there was no place, group, or even corner for me to ft in. This was something that I struggled with as each year passed, and even something that I would let defne my own character. But when I signed up for Hilight my sophomore year this all changed. All the lonely thoughts, the dwelling, and the overall distaste I carried in my heart for those who did have a “place” in this world vanished. With Hilight I not only found a place where I belonged, but I found a place where I could voice my own opinions, let my thoughts fourish, and embrace each individual talent that I possessed. Hilight has been so much more to me than simply just a school newspaper -

In the history of modern music, few fgures stand as boldly — and as spiritually grounded — as Bob Marley. To understand his impact on Jamaica, you have to recognize that he was never just an entertainer, he was a man guided by faith, shaped by confict, and sustained by an unwavering devotion to Jah. His music did more than fll stadiums, it unifed a nation divided by violence and at the center of that unity was his absolute trust in God.
During the 1970s, Jamaica was politically fractured. In this violently divided country, supporters of the People’s National Party (PNP) and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) were often caught in violent clashes. Entire communities were aligned with one party or the other, and fear shaped daily life. In such a tense environment, even cultural events were viewed through political rose-colored glasses. Bob Marley, a young man who was already the island’s most infuential voice, found himself caught in the crossfre. Yet Marley refused to pledge loyalty to either side. His allegiance was not to politicians, it was to Jah.
Rastafari, the spiritual movement that shaped Marley’s worldview, centers on devotion to God, resistance against oppression, and reverence for Haile Selassie as a divine fgure and symbol of African sovereignty. Marley did not treat this faith casually, it guided how he lived. From wearing dreadlocks as a spiritual symbol to following an ital (natural) diet, Marley’s lyrics were flled with biblical language and prophetic conviction. Music, for him, was ministry.
The faith he practiced so diligently was tested on December 3, 1976. Just two days before the Smile Jamaica concert, which was organized to ease political tension, gunmen stormed Marley’s home in Kingston, Jamaica. He was shot in the arm and chest, while his wife, Rita, was shot in the head, and his manager was critically injured. The attack was widely believed to be politically motivated. Marley had
cause of his infuence. After this violent and egregious act, Marley could have canceled the concert, understandably. Instead, two days later, still injured, he walked on stage and performed.
When asked why, he said that the people trying to make the world worse were not taking a day of, so why should he? Marley’s response refected more than bravery, it revealed his unwavering faith. Marley believed Jah had preserved his life for a purpose. His decision to sing despite the danger reassured a fearful nation– if he could stand frm after being shot, perhaps Jamaica could stand frm against hatred.
Through reggae, Marley created a spiritual meeting ground. Songs like “War,” inspired by a speech from Haile Selassie, called for justice as the foundation of peace, “Get Up, Stand Up” demanded dignity, and “One Love” reminded listeners that unity was not just a dream but a divine truth that if there is one God, there is one humanity.
Marley sang about unity not as a political slogan but as a spiritual reality. His faith allowed him to rise above party divisions, with both sides of Jamaica’s political confict listening because he belonged to neither, yet to everyone. His concerts became rare spaces where rival supporters could stand side by side, singing the same words.
The most powerful symbol of this unity came in 1978 at the One Love Peace Concert. In front of thousands, Marley brought opposing political leaders on stage and joined their hands together. While the moment did not erase all violence, it demonstrated something extraordinary: faith-driven art could create space for reconciliation.
Marley had already survived an assassination attempt, Jamaica remained tense, however, he trusted that Jah’s purpose was greater than fear. Marley’s brav- ery was steady and spiritual,
meant actively working for peace. Ultimately, putting faith in Jah unifed Jamaica through reggae because it gave the country a shared spiritual identity. Party colors divided neighborhoods, but music transcended them and the rhythm of reggae carried scripture, resistance, and hope all at once. Music reminded Jamaicans that they were bound by culture and belief before politics ever separated them.
Bob Marley passed away in 1981, but his infuence has never faded. His legacy is not only musical excellence, it is spiritual endurance and the ability to promote peace and love to all. Bob Marley showed that faith is not passive comfort: it is strength. It steadies a voice after gunfre and it dares to sing about love in a divided nation.
Gratitude feels like the only ftting response to his life. He stood in the middle of confict and chose unity, when he could’ve stood down and protected himself. He was targeted, wounded, and threatened by many, yet he sang to anyone who would listen. Through unwavering faith in Jah, he transformed reggae into a bridge across division, and through that bridge, Jamaica remembered that it was more united than it was divided. One love. One heart. Guided by faith.

Over the seasons, I’ll always fnd myself unintentionally listening to certain types of music, but during spring, it is almost like a tradition for me to return to particular artists. I never noticed it until recently, but they always seem to coincide with the turning of winter to spring, when the green is returning to my front yard, and when I start to spend more time sitting on a bench under my tree. This is a group of difering musicians, but all share their roots in folk and singer-songwriter.
Artists such as Nick Drake and Adrianne Lenker, whose music I could only describe through means of nature, which is ftting for the season. Though their music is generally considered to be more sorrowful, I think the opposite. The rawness of their music is exactly what I look for in spring; it feels like a rebirth, making me aware of the change in my life. It is thought-provoking in all the best ways. I can feel a calm breeze whenever I listen to ‘Music for Indigo’ by Adrianne Lenker. It is an overwhelming sense of tranquility, one that cannot be replicated. And it is why I like spring so much, because I can listen to this music and feel like I have time to breathe–especially when everything is so overwhelming.
The natural ambience of folk and music adjacent to it makes it feel so human, as if I am in the room while it is being recorded. It is so peaceful, even when it evokes strong emotions. Nick Drake’s music is conficting because you would think that it is more ftting for the cold, but it evokes a warmer feeling. Music that is meant to be listened to in a feld of tall grass where the wind is blowing softly. Each season has its own special music, but it will always be spring that I can fnd the most joy in. It’s comforting to know that even as the seasons pass, and the years go by, and as music comes and goes, that each spring, I’ll be reminded of that bliss I felt when

United States Attorney General Pam Bondi is currently at the forefront of public scrutiny. On February th, 6 Bondi met for a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing - where the topic of conversation primarily involved the Justice Department’s handling of the Jeffery Epstein fles, and the still in process release. During this meeting, Bondi was questioned relentlessly regarding alleged political targeting, coverups of crucial information, and the failure to protect victims involved in the case - which in turn, resulted in multiple public outrages.
As the meeting opened, Attorney General Pam Bondi began her testimony before the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. During her testimony she upheld a very confrontational approach - heatedly arguing with multiple Democrats, and even refusing to answer various sets of questions regarding the handling of both the fles themselves, and their release. While Republicans generally seemed to defend her, members of the Democratic party that were present were holding
strong when it came to scrutiny. At one point, Congresswoman Pramila Jaypal had asked Attorney General Bondi to apologize to a handful of Epstein’s victims - which happened to be standing directly behind her - this request was met with a fery clap back from Bondi who described Jaypal’s questions as “theatrics”, and even stated she was “not going to get in the gutter with this woman”. Prior to this Bondi referred to a Democrat in the audience as a “washed up loser”, which ended up causing one lawmaker to storm out.
While Congress isn’t always peachy keen, this attitude and approach is one hundred and ten percent not ideal for not just our government, but the citizens of the United States as well. Yes, not always do people agree when discussing controversial problems, especially in a federal oversight meeting - but this level of mockery and arguing is both ineffective, and looks quite horrifc in terms of the nation’s government.

An Inside Look Into the Rocky National Address

President Trump’s State of the Union speech in February became an address not like its predecessors. During the address, the president declared, “we’re winning so much” adding that he’d sparked job growth, boosted manufacturing, and gripped issues like immigration. However, hot button issues like immigration have led to backlash and dipping approval ratings for the president. During his speech while talking about immigration policy, Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota heckled the president shouting, “You have killed Americans” and “You should be ashamed!” a reference to two citizens–Alex Pretti
and Renée Good– who were shot and killed by federal ICE agents in Minnesota back in January. This heated exchange resulted in President Trump scolding Democratic members of congress adding, “you should be ashamed.” In addition to the heated chaos on the House foor, Democrats protested President Trump by simply not attending or wearing “Release the Epstein Files” buttons. The buttons were in response to the increase in controversy over the Epstein Files in which President Trump among numerous other politicians are being accused of sexual abuse. Later during the address, Representative Al Green held a banner

But who specifcally is causing most of this outrage, and why exactly?
Mamdani- Winner of the 5 New York Mayoral Race, Zohran Mamdani’s mere existence in the political climate has sparked both outrage and celebration online and in the newsroom. Mamdani was originally born in Uganda, immigrating to the United States at the age of seven, and was raised in a traditionally Muslim household. His identity itself has caused racist and targeted posts online, targeting him throughout his campaign and even after his winning of the offce. On the other side, some celebrate the diversity he brings to American politics today, noting the fact that he is the frst Muslim mayor in the city’s history. In regard to his political beliefs, Mamdani has labeled himself as a democratic socialist, making him the frst to proudly an-
nounce himself within this party as New York mayor. This branding as a socialist has caused many raised eyebrows within both New York and across the country, questioning the extremes of his agenda as mayor. Mandani has made an effort to promise New Yorkers free bus transit, rent-stabilized apartments, and free childcare, and as pleasant as all of these incentives sound, the funding for these actions is the root of most concern, especially for the wealthy population within the city. His four-year term as mayor will end in December of 9, and so far, his short time in offce has already caused the same level of controversy as any politician sitting in the White House.

Green’s sign was in response to a controversial video uploaded on Trump’s social media depicting Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as apes. The President faced widespread backlash even from fellow Republicans from the video. However, as Green was being removed from the foor, he waved the sign at Republicans on the other side of the aisle where Representative Troy Nehls, attempted to snatch the sign from Green. Green was on record after being removed from the House chamber adding, “... There are others who have taken stands, and they, too, have been vilifed. Dr. (Martin Luther King) King went to jail for taking a stand. Rosa Parks went to jail for taking a stand. Sometimes you have to take a stand.” This statement further solidifes Green’s call to action against the administration. Democrats on the contrary planned the “People’s State of the Union,” a rally at the National Mall. Attendees at the rally spoke about immigration
policy and the Epstein fles. Several senators and U.S. representatives spoke on that regard. Additionally, other Democrats joined the Pro-Democracy anti-Trump group Defance. org and their rally which included various mayors of cities that have recently been the target of Trump’s immigration raids.
Outside of the chaos in D.C., President Trump drew backlash from celebrities on Twitter with most stars reacting with anger, sarcasm, and skepticism. TV show host Jimmy Kimmel watched the speech with Stormy Daniels, the adult flm actress that was alleged to have been paid to keep quiet about an afair with President Trump. On the contrary, conservative commentator Ann Coulter added that the speech was, “beautifully delivered.”
All in all, President Trump’s second State of the Union Address was one that is already being added to the history books. From controversy over hot button issues and topics to protests erupting outside and inside the House chamber, the President’s address was one many Americans won’t be forgetting any time soon.

For nearly two straight months, the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, became the world stage for ICE protests, exemplifying America’s growing position and polarization on immigration within the Trump Administration. ICE has sparked incredible and growing outrage across the country for its drastic and controversial handling of recent immigration controls, seen very visibly through its massive responses in city streets and newsrooms around the world. But how has this organization changed in the past few years, what promises are being made, and why is it sparking such anger?
In , after the recent attacks of / , the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was established to work closely on cases of both terrorism and border security, and the department was initially granted civil and criminal authority in order to execute national and public safety. Alongside the department came the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), working more specifcally towards the border control promises with-
in the department. Although the goals of the Bureau largely follow similar incentives, the means of achieving them have changed noticeably since President Trump took offce, as he has promised clear goals for immigration and border control to secure the country’s future. Since his campaign in , President Trump has vowed closed borders, further military and national involvement, and mass deportations– all of which have been met with varying opinions. The Trump administration has taken a very head-on approach with all of these promises, and in June of , President Trump began deploying the National Guard to major U.S. cities, frst Los Angeles, then eventually cities like Memphis, Charlotte, and Chicago–some of these advances being met with lawsuits issued by state attorneys. Where the National Guard didn’t go, ICE flled in, and in late , the Trump administration ordered nearly , to , federal ICE and border control agents to the Minneapolis Twin Cities area. This decision would end up causing millions of Americans to become addicted to gambling, and it opened the foodgates to other gambling sites gaining popularity. With many celebrities and popular infuencers often appearing in gambling advertisements. These appearances convince people that gambling is not that harmful because their favorite celebrity is endorsing it. How did it get this bad?
To answer that question, we have to dive into the psychology of gambling. Gambling triggers dopamine in the brain whether you win or lose. Gambling apps will even exploit this dopamine rush by adding fashing colors and friendly cartoon charac-
ters into their games. This not only makes people want to keep putting money into the games, but it also makes people take gambling less seriously because of the friendly characters incorporated into the games. Many gambling companies will also specifcally target users they know have a gambling addiction. Companies call them “VIPs.” Users who are thousands of dollars in debt are given this title so that they feel special, and so they will continue to become more and more in debt with the company. Many of these apps will also give you notifcations after a certain

The operation was in the works to target illegal immigrants that posed a threat to American communities; however, the actions in Minneapolis suggest alternative motives, or at least, in the simplest terms, they lost the plot.
As ICE agents entered Minneapolis, local communities immediately raised concerns. Despite ICE claims of focusing on immigrants with criminal histories, nearly , individuals have been arrested, some deported, by ICE offcers just in Minneapolis, criminal history or not. Locals also noticed increasing cases of racial profling and ICE offcers stopping and investigating individuals with no probable cause. It’s more than just neighborhoods; multiple schools in the Minneapolis area have also complained of ICE presence in school zones, often masked and unidentifed. On January , , as tensions within the city were already growing exponentially, Rennee Good was murdered in
her own neighborhood by an ICE offcer. With incredible outrage both online and in nearby communities, the death of Good was the fnal strike and tipping point for ICE to leave Minnesota, or at least this was the desire of real people within the city; however, it was not the goal of the Trump Administration nor the DHS to leave Minneapolis until even more tragedy. After the outrage of Renee Good’s death, Alex Pretti was shot and killed on January th at a major protest, not even a month from the previous murder. After both murders, along with other recorded altercations circulating online, even more protests against ICE sparked across the country: from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to even Huntsville, Alabama. The outrage had no sign of stopping, and with this incredible pressure, the DHS fnally rolled back ICE intervention in the city by early February, followed by an announced end to Operation Metro Surge on February , , along with the fring of former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

As the cold winter season transitions to the warm summer, the 2026 Winter Olympics have wrapped things up in Milano Cortina. The Winter Olympics features 16 main sports, but is divided into 3 main categories: Ice Sports (Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, Curling, Short Track Speed Skating, Speed Skating), Skiing & Snowboarding (Alpine Skiing, Ski Jumping, Snowboarding, Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined, Ski Mountaineering, Snowboarding), and Sliding Sports (Bobsleigh, Skeleton, and Luge). Figure Skating caught the attention of the majority this Olympics with its combination of artistry and athleticism.
Starting with the Men’s Figure Skating, which resulted in the securing of Gold by Mikhail Shaidorov (KAZ), locking in the score of 291.58. Shaidorov demonstrated impressive technical content in his performance as he landed a 5 quadruple jump during his freeskate. The execution of a rare com bination of a triple axle, a half-loop, and a quad Salchow is also in his performance. gains not only win Gold but also for his

Liu mentioned her withdrawal from competitive skating back in 2022, retiring at just the age of 16. She announced this decision after competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics. Liu made this choice not because she had to, but rather
elite execution in his programs as he demonstrated all technical content, exceptional speed, artistic performance, and all under high-pressure. Others next to Shaidorov on the podium included Silver medalist Yuma Kagiyama (JPN) and Bronze medalist Shun Sato (JPN). The Men’s fgure skating took an unexpected turn as expectations of the majority had Ilia Malinin (USA) on the podium. Pre-Olympic expectations and season rankings showed that Malinin was the top-ranked skater, but unfortunately, Malinin fnished of the podium, placing 8th after falling twice. Malinin missed a quadruple Lutz and his signature element, the quadruple Axel. Spectators still praise Malinin for his amazing performance regardless of the results.
The same expectations were set with the woman fgure skater Amber Glenn (USA). The Pre-Olympics expectations were high with her spectacular performance at the Grand Prix circuit, making her a strong contender for the podium. Things didn’t turn out the way

Her return sparked the attention of others as the public realized it is good to step back from a thing you’ve always done to gain a new perspective out of it. Liu emphasized that her coming back was all her decision and overall love for the sport. She men tioned how she now has full creative control over her costumes, music, and training hours, making the sport she always loved feel like it’s her own and not a chore.
Her return to competitive skating was powerful itself, but she also charmed the audience with her performance. Liu inspired individuals with her to her sport without the inten winning, but just for fun and out of pas sion. Liu performed well in the short program as she cleanly executed her
Those joining Alysa Liu on the podium for Women’s Figure skating were Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) and Ami Nakai (JPN). This is a remarkable season for both Sakamoto and Nakai. Sakamoto, a three-time world medalist, announces her retirement after a good run in her 21-year fgure skating career, making the Olympics one of her last competitive seasons. Kaori secured multiple Olympic medals throughout her career; Bronze individually in 2022, Individual silver in 2026, and two team silvers in 2022 and 2026. Sakamoto’s threetime consecutive world champion title holds its special meaning as she’s the frst woman to do this ever since Peggy Fleming (1966-1968). Her growth is shown throughout her career run, from expressing her excitement in securing her bronze back in 2022 to securing silver in 2026 yet feeling frustrated. This
her charming performance, appearing in the Olympics for the frst time at the age of 17. Nakai achieved her personal best score during her performance in the short program, scoring a total of 78.71. This scoring made her place frst for the short program, allowing her to have a good shot on making it on the podium. Nakai displayed such a good performance which resulted in her soaring technical score. She fawlessly landed a triple Axel along with high-level combinations such as a triple Lutz-double Axel combo. Regardless of the minor errors she had on her free skate, she earned her spot at the podium with her total score of 219.16. Nakai’s astonishing performance not only made her a Bronze medalist, but also made audiences hope that she performs more throughout her career.
This Olympics became an opportunity for talented skaters to showcase their talent, which captured the attention of international fans. Despite unexpected events with Men’s Figure Skating and its overall podium, Women’s Figure Skating flled it with impactful comebacks and mixed bittersweet farewells, The Milano Cortina Olympics 2026 proved that it isn’t about winning medals, but it’s the journey and the eforts added to it that actually

These recommendations bring on a relaxing and upbeat vibe that is sure to make your seasonal depression disappear.
A new upcoming artist--even more so with the ending of Stranger Things--is Djo, otherwise known as Joe Keery or, in reference to his popular character, Steve Harrington. He’s most famous for his hit “End of Beginning,” though it does little as an entire descriptor of his music. Even more interesting is that it’s been an nounced that he will be one of the openers to Tame Impa la’s second U.S. leg of the Dead beat Tour. Djo’s music encapsu lates what it tru ly means to love someone, especially in his newest album The Crux. While some artists now will only make music for the money, Djo wants to make connections with his listeners by telling a story not only through his lyrics, but also through his powerful instrumental tracks. His songs carry meaningful messages and once you consider the variety in slow versus fast tracks, he may turn out to be the best new spring artist for you to indulge in.

Although cleaning out your closet or dusting your shelves is a typical habit of the spring months, you could probably beneft more by taking spring cleaning towards a more personal direction. Spring could be the perfect opportunity to help you realize your weakest points -- think of bad habits, hurtful relationships, and just poor decisions overall, and try to reason with your own goals on whether some things are better to keep around or not. No matter how diffcult some decisions are, cleaning out unhealthy habits can feel like shedding old skin. Another good rule of thumb is that life is coming from you and not at you, so try to take that message of responsibility

Cullman High School’s Bathroom Epidemic
Uncovering CHS’s ongoing bathroom conspiracy

For years now, students at Cullman Highschool have been perplexed by the constant odors being emitted into the hallways… Where is it coming from? Why is it always stinky? How is this still an ongoing issue? The faculty has brought in plumbers, contractors, and even funk specialists - and yet the problem… Well it still is not resolved.
Now what if we told you this issue has not only been caused by students here being absolutely disgusting... but it is also being caused by something much more dark and sinister… Something our small, still developing minds would be unable to grasp. For years now, students at CHS have risked complete social humiliation by committing what I’d consider moral sins in the bathrooms. This ranges from simply just not fushing the toilet- to people just being absolutely grotesque. We aren’t quite sure why students here risk complete embarassmant for a quick laugh when it comes to destroying the toilets, walls, and even sinks... but it has obviously become an ongoing problem. Not only is this issue both disgusting and absolutely embarrassing... if not horrifying, but it has also caused an extreme evil to conjure itself right beneath our feet. You see, the literal funk being left in the bathroom by these morally corrupt students has began to fester over time - it has taken a shape, and has now created it’s own body and mind. Students run around, joining in on these “bathroom escapades” without fully understanding the consequences of their actions - and these consequences... Well they have proven to be quite grim.
The next time you choose to take a quick little break from class by bathroom camping, pay close attention to your surroundings. Specifcally - the writing on the walls. While most people at other schools pay these little notes left by the generations before them essentially no mind - here, at Cullman High School, these notes could be our ticket to survival. Skip past the silly “I hate this place”, and the “you’re loved” notes - and start looking more closely at the words that have been scribbled over… These are how we will solve this case - how the school will escape the evil sludge that hovers beneath us every day.
STORY
I have spent years trying to fgure out exactly who is capable of making our school smell this bad- actually, us sane students have
been trying to solve this case since the frst week we stepped foot in this school… From the various “bathroom poopers”, to almost every single toilet being clogged by the end of the day in the math building… We have known since the very start that treachery was afoot. Nothing could keep us distracted by the constant funk eating away at our nasal passages, especially in the science building. So we started digging deeper - we began trying to fnd the real meaning of this issue… because there was simply no way every single building smelt like it would have a green aura wafting down the halls. Quite frankly, we were pushed by this disgustingly evil smell to start our work - and boy oh boy, what we have found will shock you. Over the past couple of decades, a new epidemic broke out in all school systems all over the worldand that just so happened to be the fushing of miscellaneous items. We aren’t sure why, how, or what caused this to originate - but it has been a fan favorite activity for quite some time now. At Cullman High School, horror stories have been passed down from grade to grade about students fushing something as small as a pack of doritos, to an entire binder down the toilets. And what might actually be worse than this… Well that would be the witches brew that is annually whipped up in one of the many bathroom toilets on campus… And this witch’s brew, well it’s defnitely nothing like that one Alani favor. People would do - and put - absolutely disgusting things in the toilet, create an ungodly mixture of who knows what,

Students all over Cullman High School have voiced their concerns. Mason Fuller - a junior here at CHS - stated that one of the worst things he has ever seen was here… In our own bathrooms. He stated that one day he happened to fall victim to this always lurking evil as he entered the bathroom one unforeseen day… he came face to face with something he coined as a “poop parachute.” This is something many other students have also mentioned such as Zachary Larue, Drayke Adams, and Jaxon White - all juniors here at Cullman… and this is just one of many tips students have come forward with…

Nick Calvert, a beloved senior here, has stated that the science building bathroom constantly has a smell that quite literally makes one “shut up” - and even said we need to “open the gym showers” for these stinky, poopy students. He also expressed paying tribute to the “poop parachute” in 4, and has stated that this epidemic has followed us into 5 and 6. Connor Smith, also a senior here at Cullman, described the smell in the bathrooms - and stated that they usually smell exactly like “manufactured fart spray”. He also gave us valuable insight into what students really do in the school bathrooms - this ranges from people simply standing around and talking to others, standing on top of toilets, and even slamming people into the stall walls. One student in particular was named many times for the ladder - one who would like to remain annonymous- this is the person who seems to be a prime culprit of these bathroom

Even today, March 8th, 6, we’re still uncovering more clues leading to our full discovery, specifcally in the Math building… I mean, there’s just simply no

1. After watching the trials the past three years I believe that Eve is less guilty due to her deception. While she was created with free will I think Adam was at fault for allowing that deception. Team Eve is always convincing.
2. The most memorable moment from the previous trials was the moment Chloe Nacilla used the scale of justice for team Adam.
1. Over the years that I have viewed the trials, to stick with my views as a performative male, Eve is less guilty. From what I have viewed, Eve was forcefully fed the Apple by the serpent/Lucifer. Whilst Adam, not fully guilty, had eaten the apple out of his own fruition, although out of love for his wife, he had still done it himself.
2. During the trials last year, Nick Calvert had played the role of Lucifer/Satan very well, he was very charismatic and had a very charming performance. You could feel the crowd around you during his walk out.

1- Before reading, I believed Eve was less guilty because God said that Eve would have to suffer in childbirth, but Adam eating the apple ultimately brought in death 2- After reading, I still believe Eve is less guilty because she was deceived by a fallen angel that also tempted 1/3 of heaven’s angels, and Adam was tempted only based on his love for Eve. So Eve was actually deceived and Adam put his love for Eve above God.
3- I am Eve for the 3rd and 7th period trials, and I have spent lots of time going through the lines of the text before the Fall to see the true faults and temptations of both of the characters.

There’s one value in my life that has always appeared to be one of the most important: my relationship with my mother. As long as I can remember my mom and I have been exceptionally close - she has acted as my teacher, my role model, the person who inspires me the most, and most important of allor at least I think - she has acted as an emotional anchor throughout my life. She steers me from wrong to right, from silly and immature to graceful and thoughtful… She has taught me how to be the woman I am today. To me, the relati0nship of my mother and I is one of the most meaningful aspects of my life - and without it I do not think that I would be the same person who’s sitting here today and writing this article.
A mother’s love plays a profound and irreplaceable role in one’s life - and when a mother and her daughter’s bond is healthy, it has the ability to become one of the most powerful infuences in a young woman’s life. As a daughter grows, her mother becomes a live example of womanhood. Through daily observations and interactions, we learn how to navigate responsibilities, relationships, and personal habits regarding maintaining appearance. A mother is a young girl’s model for how they will one day live their lives - they show us how to be strong when we think we no longer can, they emphasize the power of resilience, teach us how to be compassionate, and even show us the importance of the

When a mother responds consistently to their child’s needs, cries, and fears, she is teaching her daughter that she has a safe space to express herself,

In my own personal opinion, school dances are the most boring things to exist. I remember when we were all little and young enough to still watch Hannah Montana with a reasonable excuse, high school dances were depicted as the most fun you’d ever have in high school. Football games were also depicted that way now that I think about it. The ’s tv shows made high school seem absolutely awesome. In reality, if we play an innocent prank on our history teachers, we get basically arrested. Anyway, we gotta get back on topic.
I remember watching Goodluck Charlie when I was like 7 and being so excited to be in high school so I could go to prom and have so much fun doing goofy things there. In real life the only fun part about prom or dances is the preparation for it. Buying the dress or tux, getting ready, eating, and hanging out with your friends before and after the dance. The dance itself is underwhelming.

In 6, Ida Auken, a Danish politician born in Frederiksburg, Denmark, wrote in the World Economic Forum (WEF) a quote that would be repeated for the next two decades: “You will own nothing and be happy.” Her point was not that we as a society would lack objects or services completely, but that we would lack true ownership over these things. As streaming and digital ownership increase in popularity, the danger of losing access or ownership over products we buy also increases. In the past, one would buy CDs, VHS tapes, or DVDs for media such as music and movies; this was a one-and-done deal. You went to the store, bought what you wanted, and it was yours. With this shift towards purely digital transactions of video games and media people have seen a rise in companies “revoking access” to things people have bought completely. This brings up many issues: what is considered renting vs. buying? Are these companies blatantly stealing from their customers? Should there be a warning when purchasing online access to media? As a general rule, loss of access to media one has bought is usually
due to the company going out of business, such as Redbox, which went into bankruptcy in 4.
Going even further than the rise of digital ownership and its unreliable nature is the rise of technofeudalism. Technofeudalism is almost exactly what it sounds like: big tech companies owning large parts of the web and the services provided by it, and “renting” these states to the average person. It shares many parallels with feudalism from th century England, wherein a “lord” would rent a piece of land to their “serf” in exchange for their work and a part of the capital they would grow off the land. These tech companies are given immense power because of this, benefting far more than the common man; this means money, knowledge, and ownership. Technofeudalism is especially present in the U.S., where capitalism is arguably the strongest. Technofeudalism attempts to sell this lie that the more you “buy” from Big Tech, the greater your profts will be; the reality is that these companies are buying digital “land” to the point of complete ownership, as to keep actual individual ownership to a minimum. These corporations
are attempting to collaborate with the U.S. government by appointing their CTOs and CPOs as colonels in the U.S. Army—Shyam Sankar (CTO of Palantir), Andrew Bosworth (CTO of Meta), Kevin Weil (CPO of OpenAI), and Bob McGrew (Advisor of Thinking Machines Lab and former CPO of OpenAI). They were appointed to “modernize” the army, but in giving these high tech fgures power, it benefts them. They can more easily come out with technology that harms the common folk, such as surveillance technology and human detection. Capitalism, although not considered a form of government, often does beneft the government’s advantage over its people and often collaborates for things like military support. This leads into the next concept: technofeudalism is a form of late-stage capitalism. This is described as the last stages of extreme capitalism, in which services and items are of low quality, high price, and “digitally-driven.” While capitalism as a concept is not harmful, the stages
we’re entering now as a society most certainly are. We are in an era where the things we’re buying are not indefinite, despite being incorruptible: a digitally-bought movie or video game is not physical, but can still be lost by companies or a company shutdown. Many people are paying for ownership of websites and digital estate, while companies are soaking up the rent. Renting is becoming more and more popular, not intentionally by the population, but intentionally by the corporations offering them. Things such as music, consoles, movies, video games, streaming services, housing, even cars, and beyond. There is hope: technofeudalism is not as stable as traditional capitalism or England’s original system. Being digitally unreliable is just as disadvantageous to these corporations as it is to the consumer, and selling lies of ownership and prosperity is much harder in a system that blatantly gains from lack of ownership. Soon, and with the support of the common people, it will crumble and fall.

Bias being in the classroom has objectively always been an issue in the south. With that, our society has changed immensely–to the point we should not have to worry about being fed false information. Schools have changed curriculums time after time as new information enters the education system. This still does not excuse teachers for teaching students absolutely nothing but their own opinions on what the class is supposed to be learning.
With the current state of the nation, opinions have been fying left and right – literally. With this being said, the main place that this should not be an issue is the school system. Sharing opinions student to student is perfectly fne, the issue is the unwanted, unwarranted, opinions coming from teachers during lectures. Have you ever had a class where you learned absolutely nothing but your teachers’ political views? Have you ever failed every test in a class due to the fact that your teacher teaches nothing but their own opinions on a topic? If so, this is a major issue.
School administration, boards, and faculty continue to complain about test scores; however, they very rarely look into the pattern. Which class with which teacher has the worst scores, or which teacher teaching which class has the best scores and vice versa? I am not saying that every bad test score means a teacher is biased; however, I am stating that there is a pattern and there is a simple solution. Yes, teachers are scarce. Yes, there is an uneven ratio of students to teachers. But even with these factors considered, there is still a resolution.
Primarily in public schools is where the unwarranted bias within the classroom is located, so this is what we will be focusing on. This past year I have noticed so many more ideologies–coming from my teachers–that I should probably not be taught. Being a senior already brings a totally different experience when it comes to school, relationships with teachers, and overall curricula; however, I do not think it should be a regular occurrence to have a heated argument with a teacher about politics… especially after said teacher has asked the class for our opinions and blatantly argues with us, not debating–arguing. Like stated previously, sometimes arguments or stated opinions are okay in the classroom, this is what Socratic seminars and debates are for; how-
ever, those arguments are always between students, the teacher only steps in if things get too rough. It is great to be aware of the current state of the world, don’t get me wrong, but it is not an excuse to be forced to defend your opinion like you are on the frontlines of war with your teacher. No one’s opinion is correct or incorrect, they are just different.
I have asked other individuals to share their experiences regarding potential bias in their prior/ current classes:
“As a student, there was defnitely biased in the classroom. Bias towards gender, towards the class, economic standing, or allegiance. I could say that towards religion it was kinda –like kids who either didn’t have a religion or even further vocalized they didn’t have one, it became hard for them to participate sometimes. In the Live Like Lexi assembly, “If you don’t feel comfortable about Jesus then leave,” everyone looks around and then claps for the people who stayed. It makes it very isolating for those who didn’t. Even when they leave, “raise your hand if you’re excited to hear about Jesus,” let’s say it this way, I don’t think Jesus would’ve done it that way.”
clearly didn’t know the answer to, setting me up to be wrong in front of the whole class and made it kind of a show. I could just feel the difference in pressure she gave others compared to me. This constant feeling of being picked and underestimated changed my willingness to just be engaged in her class or even want to care for it. One time my buddy was goofng off during the pledge of allegiance and she had her back turned to us so she didn’t notice (apparently) but when I turned around to look at him cuz I was just like “what are you doing” didn’t even say anything out loud just turned my body, she saw that and fipped out and made a show to walk me out of the class and scold me for being disrespectful and what not, and when I tried to explain that I wasn’t doing anything but just reacting to the other students doing stuff during the pledge she dismissed it and just said that’s she didn’t see anyone but me. I had to walk back inside with my head down and even my buddy had to apologize saying that he should’ve been the one to be scolded and he didn’t understand why she went for me as always. After that I just decided to lay low and just do bare minimum just waiting for me to get out of her class.¨
teaching us - and yes, I do mean each class period they have- they implement and focus on their own political beliefs. While I believe that this is extremely unprofessional - especially considering that this is his work place - it also genuinely bothers me & is affecting me in their class. Instead of understanding various concepts that will be on the test, I listen to different political statements and opinions constantly being drilled into the work, the lectures, and just them talking to the class in general. I have always been a good student. I try very hard when it comes to my work, I listen, I give it my all - but when your teacher picks stating their own political beliefs over actually teaching the unit (or even trying to) it makes it extremely hard to not only actually care about the class, but to even know what’s going on. Like how do you expect me to make a good grade on literally anything if you don’t actually cover the topic and focus on talking about the state of America. On top of that, not everyone shares the same opinion - and it’s almost as if they are trying to force their own viewpoints down our throats… which is just likeew, gross.”
“I’ve had experiences where a teacher has literally done nothing for entire class periods just to talk to students. It would be different if this were just a random occurrence and did not happen often, but it seems like the teacher has no regard for teaching for 4/5 days of the week. I’m not a super lockedin person and don’t care about my grade in the class that much, but it’s frustrating when you (and the rest of the class) keep making poor grades, and the teacher is laughing it off like it’s not their job.”
¨It was my 8th grade history teacher. She always felt like she favored other students, especially should I say more conservative kind of people. She seemed to gravitate towards their views, and would praise their answers and assignments in class and often using their perspectives for historical moments. But when it came to me, it was always different. The issue with modern feminism

The issue with modern feminism isn’t the fact that it’s not doing enough, but rather the fact that it does nothing at all, and most importantly, the blatant ignorance towards women outside of the Western world. In third-world countries like Somalia and Ethiopia, young girls aren’t worried about superfcial aspects of gender equality, yet they are worried about the safety of their lives and the risks and vulnerability their gender causes them on a daily basis. And while women are women, it is important to acknowledge that not every woman has the privilege or the horror that another may have. A young girl in Afghanistan does not worry about the same issues as a girl in America, but the question is- when was the last time we thought of the girls in places like Ethiopia, Somalia, Afghanistan, or Sudan- matter of fact, how often does anyone think of them? To reiterate, the issue isn’t what we think it is - it’s what we don’t think about, especially in the Western bubble we call home.
The subject of women’s rights is oftentimes a crucial part of the great world of online discourse. Amazingly, such an important and serious topic is twisted with overused rhetoric and arguments that time and time again are the fnal act of pointless, and rage-baiting entertainment. We’ve seen the comments about kitchens, tradwives, and whatever else a middle-aged man can come up with for his tween-boy audience, and I love to say it: it’s all stupid and baseless. In the great year of , most of the oppression we fnd ourselves so angry about simply only exists online- because I can’t recall the last time a year old boy would have the courage to tell me, of all people, to get back in the kitchen, and if that day ever comes it wouldn’t even matter, because the online world is often times irrelevant in the day-to-today. But the thing is, this distraction is so effective in covering everything we should care about. The western world, America, Canada, and even any other First World country, lives for a good show. The best shows, of course, are the ones where people are fghting tooth and nail about superfcial arguments that eventually have no conclusions- and I’ve noticed that this is how most conversations of gender equality end, at least in areas of privilege. But the thing is, that these conversations could have had conclusions if they had a point in the frst place. Where is the sense in argu-
ing about whether or not women should be able to vote in ? In fact, every argument and claim made in Western media regarding women is never benefts anyone, not even men, so the idea that content like this is at all relevant is honestly funny. Everything we see and get angry about online is only a red-herring to the real issues women face today, but the thing is, so little attention is brought to women across the world simply because it does not concern or entertain us.
The fact is, that there are women across the globe that need much more attention than they receive. For generations, young women in Somalia have been subjected to brutal, unmedicated, and outdated practices of Female Genital Multilation (FGM), and yes, it is just as awful as the name. This practice is deeply rooted and almost impenetrable in Somalian culture, with nearly 9 %-99% of Somalian women surviving with its effects. Some girls are forced into the procedure as young as fve years old, yet despite the normalization, this procedure is anything but safe. The risk of a girl bleeding out to death or having severe and long-lasting after effects is incredibly high, and up to , annual excess deaths are studied in countries where the practice is documented. The conditions are unclean and forceful, yet so engraved in Somalian culture that the procedure is considered vital for Somalian womanhood– it is in no way for medical beneft, but rather a mix of gender inequality and stubborn tradition. Despite the forceful and cruel nature of this practice, it is still widely utilized today, and young girls and women in the country have little to no say over their own bodies. Then in Afghanistan, the fact of being a woman is practically a crime. Afghan women do not have access to health care, secondary education past the sixth grade, or a means of consistent income. In Afghanistan, the streets are silent, because women quite literally are legally restrained from speaking, singing, or reading alone in public. The laws of the Taliban have nearly erased all traces of feminine identity, as any woman is prohibited from revealing their face or body to any degree. And in Yemen, there is no minimum age limit for marriages, and young girls are consistently forced into arranged marriages, often between them and much older, predatory men. As a traditional practice, child marriages are seen as a normalized part of
living in countries like Yemen, with very little protections for the young girls involved, and most cases are hardly documented or reported to local authorities.
In third-world countries, women are kept undereducated, poor, and wounded. They don’t have the liberty of identity, and even worse, they hardly have the means of communicating their oppressions. And this is the frustration, and the crossroads, of the online fallacies regarding feminism, and the privilege of being a woman in a frst-world narrative. It’s simply the fact that such important current events like these are so hard to comprehend today, not because they’re too awful, but because they are so widely overshadowed by unimportant arguments that hold no real value to the discussion of equality. Although there is no discussion saying that frst-world countries like our own are some complete utopia, there is a fne line separating our issues and the issues of women across the globe. And the main difference is a lack of possible change for these underdeveloped countries.
The concept of being a feminist today is honestly embarrassing. Not because of anything related to women’s rights, but just the rhetoric and context of how it’s changed today, especially online. It’s seen as whiny, chronically online, and liberal, and this new attitude towards change and resistance is just another form of oppression and anger towards women. Because this new defnition only exists within the bubble of privilege, one that has no real concern or motive to help women who still face almost barbaric conditions every day. People who think of women’s rights as old news and a whiny grab for attention are uneducated and self-centered. Because it’s not about you. It’s not about your Andrew Tate clickbait or Nara Smith idealism; it’s about the women in the world who don’t have half as much as you. There are girls in this world who can’t raise their voices, who have their bodies surgically stolen from them, and who are stripped of their independence as soon as they are born. Today, the concept of feminism is still ever-growing, and even though it’s not just about you, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be important.
