THE RESTAURANT WORKER NEWSLETTER: #8

VICTORIES! YES WE CAN! Workers at Gordon Ramsey Fish & Chips, Starbucks at the LINQ Promenade, and Café Belle at Paris Casino organized and won a union. YES WE DID! “I'm very excited that we are going from a non-union position to a union position. The most important union benefit that I’m looking forward to is the health insurance. As a single person and only income in my household, having better wages and healthcare is going to help me a lot. I initially got this job not knowing that it wasn't union and it was a big wake up call to me. I stayed because I knew we needed the union here and that's why I joined the organizing committee. I want other non-union restaurant workers who are fighting for a union to hang in there. Culinary Union will fight alongside us. Yes, we can and we will!”

LEAFLETING ACTION OUTSIDE OF LIVE NATION'S BROOKLYN BOWL

Melissa Allen, cook at Gordon Ramsey Fish & Chips

On June 12th, workers leafletted outside of Live Nation's Brooklyn Bowl to inform customers about service fees. Workers at Live Nation's Brooklyn Bowl are fighting to win a first union contract that includes the union standard - fair wages, job security, union benefits, and the dignity and respect that workers deserve.
