WELCOME FROM CRA PRESIDENT & CEO Welcome from CRA President & CEO Dear CT Restaurant Association Members, In the face of an evolving industry landscape, our members have demonstrated an exceptional level of resilience. An incredible 97% of Connecticut full-service restaurants are independently owned and operated, and it’s our mission at the CRA to support each and every one of them by amplifying their voices in government and delivering stronger services and resources than ever before. With the new administration in Washington and alwayschanging political dynamics here in Connecticut, we know that change is coming—and with it, new opportunities and challenges. No matter what, our focus will remain on ensuring your voice is heard and your interests are protected. To better serve you, we’ve launched a new website and Association Management System (AMS), offering improved functionality, a streamlined Member Compass, and a single destination where you can register for events and ServSafe training, access your benefits, explore industry news and resources, and stay updated on our advocacy work. We’ve also expanded our Member Exclusive Savings Program to deliver thousands of dollars in potential savings on POS systems, healthcare, industry training, and more. New partnerships with RestaurantOwner.com and Indeed offer even more support for your operations and hiring needs. To keep you informed, we continue to provide ongoing, real-time information and resources to restaurants across Connecticut, through responding to countless member inquiries, hosting webinars, and sending weekly industry update emails. This kind of hands-on, responsive support is what drives our commitment to you— and it’s why I’m proud to share that I’ve been elected to the National Restaurant Association Board of Directors for 2025. It’s an extraordinary opportunity to represent Connecticut’s restaurant community on the national stage, advocating for your needs and helping shape a future where our industry continues to grow and succeed. We know that you and your businesses are facing real challenges. We want you to know that the Connecticut Restaurant Association is proud to be your resource and advocate at every level, helping ensure that we can all thrive in 2025 and beyond.

Welcome from CRA Chairman Dear CT Restaurant Association Members, Growing up, I watched firsthand as my parents slowly transformed a small tavern in Manchester - one that originally served only beer - into a thriving restaurant with great food, live music, and a committed base of customers. Now in our 45th year of business, the Main Pub is still thriving as the longest running family-owned restaurant in Manchester, and it’s become a staple of our local community and region. Like many of you, I’m a single-location restaurant owner and operator, and I know that when times get tough my options for keeping my business afloat can feel slim. Recent years have been marked not just by the pandemic, but by continued staffing shortages, inflation and more. All of it has underscored the importance of sticking together as an industry. We must lift one another up and make sure that we all have the best tools at our disposal to benefit our businesses, our employees, and our customers. At the center of this work is our advocacy efforts at the State Capitol. Each legislative session is impactful, where key issues such as interchange fees, the tip credit system, and more, are all at the forefront of our legislative priorities. These issues affect all of us, and CRA will continue leading the charge to ensure your voice is heard. In my fourth year as Chairman of the Connecticut Restaurant Association, I have never been prouder to serve this organization that has been an invaluable resource to me in both good times and bad. To support our continued growth, we have made thoughtful changes to reflect the evolving needs of our members. We’ve updated our Board and Executive Committee slate and added a new seat focused specifically on caterers and private events. This role ensures that even more of our industry’s voices are reflected in our advocacy efforts. I look forward to continuing our work together to uplift and protect Connecticut’s restaurant industry, and I know that our unparalleled staff and Board of Directors at the CRA will continue delivering the highest level of service and support to our members every step of the way.

Welcome from CHEF Chairman Dear CT Restaurant Association Members, As a chef, restaurateur, and Chairman of the Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation (CHEF), I take pride in representing an organization dedicated to shaping the future of our industry through education, opportunity, and second chances. Throughout the past year, CHEF has expanded its impact across Connecticut. From raising over $27,000 during ProStart Week to support culinary education, to relaunching our statewide Jobs Board aimed at connecting restaurants with top talent, every initiative has been driven by our core mission: advancing the health and prosperity of Connecticut’s hospitality sector through education, scholarships, and workforce development. In 2025, we are particularly excited about our partnership with the Hospitality Opportunities for People (Re)Entering Society (HOPES) program, now launched in Connecticut thanks to a new federal grant. This program is opening doors for young adults impacted by the justice system—equipping them with essential job skills, fostering mentorship connections, and cultivating meaningful careers within our restaurants. This isn’t merely workforce development—it’s transformative work, made possible through your invaluable support. Additionally, I am delighted to announce Shannon Murphy’s appointment to our team. Shannon, a former UConn intern, joins us full-time as our new Workforce Development Coordinator. She will collaborate closely with member restaurants to enhance our career pathways and forge new connections within the industry. Whether you have been a long-standing advocate or are just discovering CHEF, I extend my sincere gratitude for your dedication to building a more robust and inclusive hospitality community in Connecticut. With your partnership, we are preparing the next generation of culinary leaders and fostering opportunities for all. I trust that this member resource guide will serve as a valuable tool as we continue our collaborative efforts to elevate and expand Connecticut’s vibrant hospitality landscape.
