Welcome to the Fall 2025 performing and visual arts season at Cal State Fullerton’s College of the Arts. Each new semester, our campus comes to life with the energy and creativity of thousands of arts students eager to share their unique visions. Whether you’re returning to our venues or here for the first time, we are so excited to present another season to you. Thank you for joining us.
On October 12, the School of Music presents the interdisciplinary performance “Shakespeare in Sound,” featuring the University Symphonic Winds along with vocal and theatre students. Later in the semester, “Here’s Johnny!: Celebrating 100 Years of Johnny Carson” swings its way onto the stage with a program of jazzy favorites on November 16. More toe tapping is in order when the Department of Theatre and Dance presents their fall musical “9 to 5,” based on the hit 1980 film and featuring the music of Dolly Parton. To close the season, “Fall Dance Theatre: Tethered” returns to the Hallberg Theatre with a fully interactive stage set for our dancers and choreographers to explore.
If you haven’t yet visited the College of the Arts Galleries, join us for the October 4 opening reception for the exhibitions Soo Kim: “(Charlie sings in the quietest voice)” and Carol Caroompas: “Mystical Unions.” Kim is known for her intricately cut and layered photographic work while trailblazing alumna Caroompas is widely recognized for her layered visual narratives. Don’t forget to stop by our student galleries while you’re there!
There are so many exhibitions, concerts, and performances to experience across the college this season, but they wouldn’t be possible without you – our extended Titan community. In every class, every rehearsal and with every hour spent in the studio, our students are pushing creative boundaries, but they need your support to thrive. CELLO CHOIR
CSUF’s Cello Choir, under the direction of its founder Bongshin Ko, boasts its wide repertoire in hands. Since 2001, members have performed at numerous musical events and venues including Carnegie Hall, United Nations (U.N.) Headquarters, and Kaufman Center in New York, Seoul Arts Center in S. Korea, Silva Centennial and Greenhouse Celebrations in NC, American String Teachers Association National Conference, Mozart Konzertacademie in Germany, Judge Judy’s Birthday Concert, Summit New York, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, O.C. Performing Arts Center and Richard Nixon Museum and Library.
Alumni and current members have won and received scholarships from Heifetz Institute, Juilliard School, Peabody Institute, New England Conservatory, Michigan Honor Auditions, Grand Prize at American String Teachers Association LA Finals, Grand Prize at CSUF Concerto Competition, Norman Family cello, Bein & Fushi, Dr. C. Baker cello, Concert World, and numerous scholarships to international music festivals in Western Europe and Far East.

Greenhouse Cello Foundation
The Greenhouse Cello Foundation, a nonprofit organization, was established in Beverly Hills, California, in 2008. With Bongshin Ko as its president, it includes officers and a board of directors of distinguished musicians and educators from the United States, Europe, and Asia.
The Foundation’s mission is to discover and support
young talents, research and promote less-known cello music, pass on the legacy of the Casals and Greenhouse schools, and according to Bernard Greenhouse, “bring all cellists and cello lovers from around the world together.”

Hailed by critics for her “most perfect playing” (Internet Cello Society) with “great warmth and beauty” (The STRAD), cellist Bongshin Ko has appeared worldwide as a soloist with such groups as Munich Chamber Players, Television and Radio Symphony of Moscow, the KBS Korean Broadcasting Symphony, Zagreb Philharmonic, and Central Broadcasting Symphony of China. In 1992 she was honored to be the first Korean artist to be invited to perform in China after the historic resumption of diplomatic relations between Korea and China, and has since been invited back annually.
Ko has collaborated with some of the world’s greatest artists including Mstislav Rostropovich, Bernard Greenhouse, Sir Georg Solti, Leonard Stein, Gunther Schuller, Semyon Bychkov and Valery Gergiev. In 1997 she appeared with the Korean Symphony at Seoul International Music Festival to give the Asian premiere of Bernard Rands’ Cello Concerto, composed and dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich in celebration of his 70th birthday. Other international music events and festivals welcomed her to Schleswig-Holstein festival, Kronberg Cello festival, Berlin Wall 10th anniversary concert, Rostropovich & Friends Concert (Germany), plus numerous others in France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Luxembourg, Poland, Russia, Monaco, Croatia, USA, Korea, China, Japan, and Indonesia.
As a recipient of over 30 international prizes and awards, including the highest performance award in her native Korea and the Crossroad Award in the US for her “superior teaching,” she is on popular demand as a teacher as well as a performer around the globe. Serving as the President of Bernard Greenhouse Foundation as well as Cello Professor and Assistant Director at Cal State Univ. Fullerton School of Music, she performs tirelessly at major venues and concert halls throughout four continents.
