Nestled in the northern foothills of the “dormant” Capulin Volcano lies a special 740 deeded acre property we call the Doherty Folsom Tract. This acreage has spectacular views in all directions and is adjacent to the historical community of Folsom. This quaint town is about 45 minutes east of Raton, New Mexico via US Highway 64 to Capulin, then north on State Highway 325. The Doherty Folsom Tract has desirable access, as it adjoins State Highway 325.
The tract is mostly rectangular in shape and lies at approximately 6,500 feet in elevation. The terrain varies from rolling mesa country and side slopes, to small grass filled valleys. Because of the ancient volcanic activity in the area, much of the property has malpai (volcanic) rock outcrops, with sandstone found on the ridge tops. The entire acreage is in native pasture with a blend of piñon-juniper pine and oak brush scattered throughout. The forage on the Doherty Folsom Tract is comprised of strong grama grass varieties that provide good weight gain
