Together, the agencies have served children and families for generations, guided by a common purpose: to support those facing adversity and hardship with compassion and care.
Founded in 1892 by Rev. A.W. Clark, CSI has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of the Omaha community through prevention,
intervention and educational programs.
Children’s Square officially began in 1882, when Rev. J.G. Lemen in Council Bluffs responded to families in crisis following a devastating flood. Lemen was able to garner community support for children facing abandonment and hardship. Over time, the organization grew into a regional leader in trauma-informed mental health care, education and longterm stability, supporting children from infancy through young adulthood.
Both organizations have built a legacy of compassion, hope and service. Today, that legacy is stronger than ever and continues through a shared commitment to improving the lives of children and families across Iowa and Nebraska.
