ADVISOR INSTRUCTIONS

Use this outline to guide your communication with the scholar. Keep for your records. Review the Advising Calendar provided by Crosby Scholars staff. Submit Conference Notes 3 via CrosbyConnect to confirm the scholar has attended the meeting.

Review Senior Program requirements listed on the back of the Crosby Scholars Senior Program Roadmap

To begin or continuing fulfilling Senior Program requirements during the summer when scholars tend to have fewer commitments. Utilize the rising senior summer to fulfill program requirements including community service + CF/V + Senior Academy. Help your scholar to know the Senior Program requirements of the For Life Pathway and how to fulfill the requirements in this pathway including explaining the FLP job/career fair/visit requirement. Encourage FLP scholar to complete these requirements as soon as they can.

Update Activities Résumé

GOAL

To confirm scholar's most recent activities and awards are displayed on their résumé. The résumé can be used when asking for letters of recommendation, when applying and interviewing for a job, when meeting with a military recruiter, and when applying to a certificate or diploma program.

Confirm Post-Secondary Plan

GOAL

GOAL

To review the post-secondary plan. To help scholars create a timeline and the next steps needed to meet their post-secondary goals. This can include identifying certification/licensing exams, funding sources, enrollment/application requirements, and more.

Take a FREE Assessment like the ASVAB or FTCC’s Career Interest Assessment

To figure out where to find career satisfaction, scholars need all the facts about their skills and interests, the world of work, and their postsecondary options to make informed decisions. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is free of charge and includes a validated aptitude test and interest assessment. Taking the ASVAB fulfills the senior academy requirement.

Review End-of-Junior Year Academic Profile

To ensure scholar knows their GPA and understands their academic profile. Review the transcript record report provided by the Program. Scholars should note their cumulative GPA and courses taken to ensure they are meeting graduation requirements.
