FOOD & BEVERAGE

One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service.

We kindly ask that if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30–40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare.

We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.

SERVICE CHARGE REMINDER

The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appétit!

Commodore’s Corner

Dear

Members and Friends of Coral Ridge Yacht Club,

As we move through the early part of the year, Betsy and I want to express our deepest gratitude for the warm welcome and support we have received. The Fleet Review and Change of Command were wonderful reminders of what makes our club so special: proud traditions on the water, strong camaraderie on shore, and a shared appreciation for the rich history we are fortunate to steward. The Commodores Ball was another highlight of the season, a beautiful evening that reflected both the elegance and the fun that define our club at its best.

As we look ahead, our focus remains centered on enhancing the member experience on every level. You will see this reflected in the continued strengthening of our committee structure, including the launch and reactivation of several member-focused groups supporting Veterans Affairs, Family Activities, Wellness, and Welcome Aboard initiatives designed to deepen new member engagement and connection.

Our social calendar has also been thoughtfully expanded to feature the smaller, relaxed, and more personal gatherings our members truly enjoy. We encourage you to join us for as many events as possible and to rediscover all that your club has to offer. Alongside the exceptional menus in our restaurants, we have returned to offering some of your favorite weeknight traditions, including the ever-popular Burger Night. Many of you may have already experienced our refreshed Wine Tasting Series or enjoyed the energy and atmosphere of Sunday Funday at The Pointe, complete with live music. Whatever your preference, we look forward to seeing you enjoying time at the club.

There are also several exciting projects underway to further enhance and refresh our facilities in the months ahead. Among them is the introduction of Scoops and Slices at The Pointe — a fun, grab-and-go concept designed for children and children at heart alike. Recent enhancements already completed include upgrades within the fitness center, the installation of our new media screen in the main entryway, and soon to come is the addition of comfortable soft seating and a fire pit gathering area at The Pointe, creating inviting new spaces for members to relax and connect.

Whether enjoying a signature event, a casual dinner with friends, time spent on the docks, or relaxing poolside, we remain committed to fostering an environment that feels welcoming, vibrant, and distinctly ours.

Thank you for your continued engagement and for the role each of you plays in shaping the spirit of Coral Ridge Yacht Club. Betsy and I look forward to seeing you around the club as we head into a busy and exciting spring season.

On Deck, Kevin

From General Manager

Dear Yacht Club Members,

The season has been as busy as it has been invigorating. The Outgoing/Incoming Commodores Ball was a night to remember. You can now see photos from the evening on our website’s Photo Albums in the “My Club” section. Major Club functions have seen exceptional attendance, and we thank you for your enthusiastic participation. Keep an eye out for photos from events like Valentine’s Day and other major club functions. We plan to share more photos from events going forward.

March promises longer days and more eventful nights. Italian Night will celebrate member heritage with classic Italian cuisine. Wear green for St. Patrick’s Day and enjoy lively music. The popular Wine Tasting Series continues with a new bazaar format of Italian wines. The month rounds out with Noche Latina for cocktails and Latin flavors. Our new Ambassador Club opened in February. This program promises rewards of up to $1,000 in club credit to anyone who successfully refer new club members As we continue to grow and expand our programming, this initiative plays an important role in strengthening our community. Reach out to Kyle D’Andrea, Membership Director, at ext. 202, for more information. We are excited to welcome new dockmaster, Jose Alicea. Dedicated to vessel safety and efficient marine operations, Jose has over 20 years of experience in dock management. You may see him around the docks or call his extension at 218. Thank you for being an integral part of this community. We look forward to a wonderful March together.

CRYC Members Jeff and Nancy Schoenwetter and their new Marlow 62E Command Bridge were featured in the February 2026 issue of Southern Boating & Yachting Magazine.

This incredible 72-foot vessel features three staterooms and is powered by twin CAT C18 engines generating 1,150 horsepower each. She weighs 91,200 pounds.

CRYC Sailing & Water Sport s Foundation

We are very pleased to announce that Kate Donovan and Ashley Walker will be joining the CRYC Sailing and Water Sports Foundation Board. They will be joining our existing Board members: Bob Epstein (President), Maynard Hellman (Vice President), Larry Bohannon (Parliamentarian), Kevin Cassell, Roz Alford, Rich Barnhart, and Gil Bieger.

The dates for the Summer Sailing Camp have been set. I expect the details for registration will be available soon. We expect registration will be carried out by the City as it was last year. Details will be available from our activity director or any of our Foundation Board Members. I would suggest that you register your kids as soon as possible since the program will sell out quickly as it did last year.

The dates are as follows:

• Session #1 June 15 - June 26

• Session #2 June 29 - July 10

• Session #3 July 13 - July 24

• Session #4 July 27 - August 7

Sessions 1, 2, and 3 are available to all who register. Session #4 is reserved for CRYC kids and will only be available to others if it does not sell out. Each session will have a maximum of 12 sailors.

Our major fundraising event, the Party with a Purpose, is scheduled for April 11, 2026, and it is a great event for a great cause. The evening will include complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet dinner with wine, live music and dancing, and our silent auction. You can make your reservation with the club or any of our Board Members. The donation is $250.00 per person and is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Is your name or the name of your business on the Team Foundation Plaque that is prominently displayed at the entrance to the clubhouse? With a donation of $1,000.00 or more, you will be included. Of course, we welcome and appreciate donations in any amount. All donations, including donations for our events, are credited to the Team Foundation Plaque. You can also help with donations of silent auction items for the Party with a Purpose.

Education and boating safety are an important part of our mission and we are pleased to announce that the Foundation will be sponsoring a Florida Boating Safety Course. It will be taught by our member and certified instructor, Hal Burke, on April 25, 2026, in the Commodores Lounge. It will be limited to 40 CRYC members and guests. There will be a website for you to register. The normal cost of the course is $85.00 but there is a $40.00 discount code from Broward County. The net cost for you will be $45.00. It is an all-day course, and lunch will be provided by the Foundation. At the completion of the course, you will receive the Florida Boating Education ID Card, which is required by all boaters 38 years of age or younger. The course and card are valuable for all boaters.

Our outreach continues with valuable partners including the City of Fort Lauderdale, Scuba 4 Good, Saint Mark’s School, Boys and Girls Club of Broward, Waterway Cleanup, and others. Help us continue to fulfill our mission and make your reservation for the Party with a Purpose or contribute a donation of any amount.

As always, we appreciate your support and will continue to work hard for the benefit of our community and CRYC.

Auxiliary

Tea, Tours & Trunk Shows

Auxiliary continues the new year with higher attendance, fun events, and plenty more planned for the balance of the season. We ended January with an evening event: Martini Night, and it was an absolute hit. We didn’t just learn the history behind the iconic drink; we got a masterclass from our very own Amanda. While we may never recreate her signature martini with the same magic, she gave us the tools (and the confidence) to try. Cheers to good cocktails and a night well spent.

February 11 brought back one of our most cherished traditions: the annual High Tea. Amanda served champagne cocktails as we arrived and Chef Steve opened with a demonstration on chocolate-dipped fruit as we munched on cucumber sandwiches followed by quiche and salad and then, of course, scones with clotted cream and jam. We finished with the chocolate-dipped fruit. An English High Tea would not be complete without tea party hats and fascinators. We awarded prizes for best hat and best table.

March is going to be one of our busiest months, starting on March 5 with an introduction of mid-century art from our very own Abby Laughlin. Join us in the Burgee Bar from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

On March 11, we will take a bus trip with Abby Laughlin and Arthur Marcus touring notable examples of midcentury architecture in Fort Lauderdale. They will share insights into design, history, and cultural significance. We will start at 11:30 a.m. with a light lunch in the Commodores Lounge and board the bus at 12:45 p.m. Please book ASAP as we need attendance numbers to order the bus.

Later in March we will feature an evening trunk show event. This will be a stylish evening by Liza Bird, featuring curated fashion pieces, accessories, and unique finds available for viewing and purchase. Come to shop between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

April will feature another Art Wall event in the Burgee Bar as well as our regular luncheon featuring Symphony Conductor Luke Frazier and another event. More on that later.

CLUBS WITHIN THE CLUB Book Club

With Lady Tan’s Circle of Women, author Lisa See transports us back to the year 1461, in the fifth year of the Changhua emperor’s reign, in China. Tan Yunxiang was a real person, beautifully and respectfully recreated in this work of historical fiction.

Losing her mother at the age of eight, Yunxiang is raised by her paternal grandparents, both of whom have medical practices. She follows in the footsteps of Grandmother Ru, who taught her the pillars of Chinese medicine, the Four Examinations (looking, listening, touching, and asking) which a male doctor could not do.

We also see her blossom as a woman, entering into and navigating an arranged marriage with a young man from a wealthy family, learning how to play the role of a good wife, mother, and daughter-in-law. Lady Kuo, her mother-in-law, dismisses Yunxiang’s medical interests, focused only on her providing a son. The compound where she lives has many people but can be a lonely place for Yunxiang, until she forges a friendship with Meiling, the daughter of the local midwife.

It is the support of the women around her that provide the foundation for a fulfilling life. Despite the huge time span and cultural differences, can we connect with the characters in Lady Tan’s Circle of Women? Ellen Landauer will facilitate this discussion. Please join us on March 13, at 11:30 a.m. in the Commodore’s Lounge for a riveting discussion.

Please make your reservations on the website or at the Front Desk for our March 13 discussion and place your lunch selections from the variety of sandwiches, salads, and other available menu choices. Lunch is promptly at 12 p.m. when the book discussion begins.

Friday Colors at CRYC

Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843.

Service members and civilians take part in this long - standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration.

Friday Colors is observed on the First Friday of each Month.

1. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.

2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.

3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff.

4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over.

Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute.

Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminded: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.

RECIPROCITY RESPONSIBILITIES & PRIVILEGES OF FCYC CLUB MEMBERS

Your Responsibilities When Visiting Another FCYC Club:

• Reservations should be made with the hosting club. Even if the decision to visit another FCYC club is spur-ofthe-moment, a call to the hosting club is appropriate.

• Be prepared to show evidence of your membership in another Council member club. Carry your membership card; or, be prepared to show it on your mobile phone; or, have a letter of introduction from your club.

• Inquire about dress code when making a reservation.

• Inquire about any club events that may be going on at the time you want to visit.

• Clubs in close geographic proximity to other FCYC member clubs may impose special reciprocity restrictions on the members of those clubs within close proximity. Inquire of your club about any special reciprocity restrictions that may be in place by clubs in close proximity.

• Reciprocity privileges should not be abused, including the frequency with which any one host club is visited.

• A visiting member of another FCYC club is expected to comply with the host club’s governing documents, including house and marina rules.

• Some clubs require visiting boaters to provide proof of insurance and require minimum levels of coverage. Visiting boaters should inquire of such requirements when reserving a slip.

Your Expectations of Privileges When Visiting a Host Club:

• With a few exceptions, a visiting member of another Council club should be treated no differently than a member of the visited (host) club. Two acknowledged exceptions include:

• FCYC member clubs with golf courses are not required to offer golf as a reciprocity benefit.

• Clubs may, in some cases, have a charge for visitor parking.

• Charges of a visiting FCYC member are to be billed back to the visitor’s club. While a host club may offer to settle the charges via credit card, it is the choice of the visiting member whether to settle the charges via credit card or billing to his/her home club.

• With few exceptions, the prices paid for goods and services by a visiting member of another Council for the sale of fuel and for private events hosted for a visiting member.

• Reasonable effort should be made on the part of a host club to honor the reciprocity visit request of a member of another Council club. Seasonal restrictions on reciprocity are not appropriate.

• It is understood that certain special events held at a club may result in the club being unable to extend reciprocity for very short periods of time.

• Any Council member club may decline to extend reciprocity privileges or limit the extent of reciprocal privileges to any individual member of another Council member club.

A comprehensive guide on reciprocity entitled “Reciprocity Standards - Q&A” may be found in Section J of the Council’s Information Binder, copies of which are maintained by your club’s office and FCYC Director.

RECIPROCITY

Did you know your membership allows you to visit other yacht clubs around the country? If you are traveling, consider stopping by a reciprocal club!

CRYC is part of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, which means you have multiple club privileges with first class experiences!
