One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service.
We kindly ask that if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30–40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare.
We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.
The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appétit!
Spring is fully upon us, and the energy at the Club reflects it. April is a month filled with some of our most cherished traditions, and I look forward to celebrating them alongside all of you.
Our Easter celebration is always a highlight of the Club calendar and one of those occasions that captures everything that makes CRYC so special. Watching Members and their families come together, children enjoying the day, and friends reconnecting in that easy, genuine way that only our Club seems to bring out is a tradition we treasure. I hope you will join us to make wonderful memories this year.

A club like ours is only as strong as the people behind it. I want to take a moment to recognize the many Member volunteers who give so generously of their time and energy across our committees and behind the scenes. Your dedication strengthens this Club in ways that cannot be overstated.
That same spirit of excellence carries through to our staff. A well-deserved note of appreciation goes to General Manager Jay Butler and the entire CRYC team, whose commitment to making every Member experience exceptional is evident each and every day. We are truly fortunate to have such passionate people on both sides of that equation, and I encourage you to let them know how much their efforts mean.
It has been wonderful to see so many happy, smiling faces since the opening of Scoops and Slices at The Pointe, and we hope you are enjoying it as much as we are. Be sure to take advantage of our Fantastic Thursday specials and keep an eye out for some exciting menu changes coming to The Pointe that we think you are going to love. As always, if you have ideas for future events or experiences you would like to see at the Club, please share them—we always want to hear from you.
Thank you for being part of what makes Coral Ridge Yacht Club so extraordinary. Betsy and I look forward to seeing you around the Club throughout April.

Jay Butler, CCM General Manager
As we welcome another vibrant April at Coral Ridge Yacht Club, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on some of the memorable moments we’ve recently shared, and to highlight several exciting opportunities ahead.
First and foremost, thank you to all who joined us for our recent themed events. Disco Inferno brought incredible energy, style, and nostalgia to the Club—it was truly a joy to see so many Members out on the dance floor enjoying the evening. Our St. Patrick’s Day celebration followed with outstanding spirit, camaraderie, and festive flair (including a special visit from a leprechaun!). And of course, Noche Latina delivered a dynamic and colorful evening filled with music, culture, and community. These events are only as special as the Members who attend them, and we are grateful for your continued enthusiasm and participation.
Looking ahead, we are pleased to announce our second Member Focus Group, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th. This initiative continues to be an important forum for gathering feedback and shaping the future of the Club. Insights from last year’s group led directly to enhancements such as our weekly Friday night children’s programming and expanded monthly training for our service team. To ensure fresh perspectives, previous participants are asked to allow those that have not participated an opportunity to be heard. Attendance is limited to the first 60 reservations, with a maximum of two individuals per household, so we encourage you to register early.
We are also delighted to welcome Steph Junker as our new Water Aerobics instructor. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Participation is limited to 15 Members per session, so early reservations are recommended for those interested in this excellent addition to our wellness offerings.
As the season begins to wind down, we have a full calendar of events to enjoy:
• Easter Sunday Buffet (April 5th): A wonderful tradition for the entire family. Reservations are filling quickly, so please secure your spot soon. Members who wish to attend only the Easter Egg Hunt and Petting Zoo are welcome, with a $40 entertainment fee per person.
• Steak Night (April 18th): Back by popular demand and limited to just 40 reservations in the Commodore’s Lounge—this event is expected to sell out.
• Last Round-Up Party (April 25th): As many Members prepare to travel for the summer, we’ll close out the month with a fun, western-themed evening. Dust off your boots and hats and join us for a lively night—complete with the return of the mechanical bull. There are rumors the General Manager may attempt a redemption ride this year…we’ll see how that goes!
Finally, a friendly reminder regarding Club policy: personal trainers are not permitted to conduct sessions in the fitness center unless they are officially registered with the Club. This policy helps ensure a safe, consistent, and high-quality experience for all Members. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Thank you, as always, for being such an important part of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club community. I look forward to seeing you around the Club in the weeks ahead.

The Auxiliary embraced the spirit of mid-century modern design throughout March, hosting a series of events that blended art, history, and community exploration.
The month began on March 5th, when artist Abby Laughlin presented her collection of midcentury artwork at the Burgee Bar. Members gathered to view her vibrant pieces and learn about the cultural influences that shaped the era’s distinctive style.
On March 11th, the Auxiliary ventured off campus for a guided tour of notable mid-century architecture in the surrounding community. Participants discovered surprising historical connections, including the role Disneyland played in popularizing the style. They also learned how architects returning from World War II brought back design inspiration from the South Pacific, helping to shape the clean lines and tropical influences that define the movement. The tour included a stop at the former Yankee Club, where members enjoyed complimentary piña coladas, adding a festive touch to the day’s learning. Looking ahead, several Auxiliary members are planning an outing to the Mermaid Bar, with details to be announced soon.
March also featured a lively trunk sale, where shoppers browsed, bargained, and “shopped till they dropped,” rounding out a month packed with activity and enthusiasm.
April is always an exciting month for the Auxiliary, and this year is no exception. Plans are underway to display the Auxiliary’s permanent art collection in the Burgee Bar, offering members and guests a chance to enjoy these pieces in a refreshed setting.
The highlight of the month will be the April 8 luncheon, featuring special guest Maestro Luke Frazier. A conductor, music director, and pianist, Maestro Frazier will offer an inside look at the life of a symphony conductor. His distinguished career includes regular appearances at venues such as the Fort Lauderdale Performing Arts Center, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center.
With art installations, special guests, and new outings on the horizon, the Auxiliary is poised for a spring season filled with creativity, camaraderie, and continued exploration.

Aside from the brevity of his term in office, not very much is known about James Garfield, the twentieth president of the United States. All the more reason to make him the subject of our upcoming book discussion on April 10, which Barbara Petrello will facilitate.
All the more reason, too, to appreciate Candice Millard’s Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President. This gripping narrative, which reads like a novel, traces Garfield’s rise from poverty to Civil War general, to congressman, and eventually to his presidency—cut short by his assassination.
How did the political strife and inexcusable medical ignorance of the time create the tragic circumstances surrounding the assassination? What do we know about the assassin? What role did Alexander Graham Bell play? What civil service reform resulted from this misfortune? Casual readers as well as history buffs will find this selection enlightening and moving.

Please make your reservations online or at the front desk for our April 10 discussion and place your lunch selections from the variety of sandwiches, salads, and other menu choices available. Lunch will be served promptly at 12 noon, when the book discussion begins.

The response to the Party with a Purpose has been great. The event will be on April 11th, and invitations were sent out some time ago to all CRYC Members. It is a fantastic event for a great cause and is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. The evening features a gourmet dinner, complimentary wine, a complimentary cocktail hour with hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and live music and dancing. This is your Foundation’s major fundraising event of the year. If you would like to attend, please make your reservation with the club or with me directly. If you cannot attend, donations in any amount are greatly appreciated.
Everything is in place for another outstanding summer camp sailing program that we conduct in partnership with the City of Ft. Lauderdale. Registration is open through the city for any of the three two-week programs. Each program is limited to 12 children and has sold out for the past two summers. The fourth two-week program is limited to CRYC children only, and as of this writing, we already have 8 of the 12 slots filled. Now is the time to register your children if you have not already done so. You can contact our Activities Director, Mel Austin, for details. We will also be sending out an email with program details and registration procedures.

In speaking with some of our Members, it has come to my attention that some are not aware of the assets available for use at no charge. These are all located at the Sailing Center on the northwest portion of our property on Sunrise Bay. They include kayaks, paddleboards, and sailboats, including our new Laser sailboat. You can make arrangements with the Dockmaster to use them at no charge. The Foundation is also considering purchasing a sailboat that is better suited for family sailing, such as a Flying Scot or a similar vessel. I would appreciate feedback from Members who might be interested in using it to help determine whether it would be a worthwhile purchase.
Some Members who cannot attend the Party with a Purpose have asked what they can do to support the Foundation and our mission. Of course, donations in any amount are welcome, as are items for our silent auctions and becoming a member of Team Foundation. With a donation of $1,000.00, your name or the name of your business will be displayed on our Foundation plaque at the entrance to the clubhouse. Donations for any of our events will count toward the $1,000.00 required to be named on the plaque.
You can also attend our Epicurean Dinner, which is scheduled each November, for $1,000.00 per couple or $500.00 per person. Again, all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
We look forward to your support in helping us achieve our mission for the benefit of the community and CRYC.

The first four Cruisers events of the year—past and upcoming—have all gone to waitlist, setting an exciting tone for the season!
Our March Pier 66 weekend was another full success, featuring appetizers and cocktails at the Pier Top; wonderful dinners at Calusso and Sotogrande; relaxing spa time; poolside fun; and a fantastic evening of docktails aboard Lady Cynthia, hosted by Cynthia and me, followed by a Mediterranean family-style dinner.
A big thank you to Chip and Neela Chipalkatty for hosting the weekend, and to Laurie Goldberg and Ramona Fowler for helping bring all the details together so seamlessly.
Looking ahead, we have an incredible lineup of trips to join us by land or sea:
Stuart – Sunset Bay Marina, April 15–19
A fun and easy waterfront getaway filled with activities both at the marina and around charming downtown. Walk or bike to local shops and restaurants while enjoying beautiful waterfront views. Highlights include docktails, group dinners, and a boat trip. The group hotel and marina are fully booked; contact Jill Scheur for overflow hotel and marina information.
Ocean Reef in Key Largo, May 28–31
One of our most anticipated events of the year, with only a few slips remaining and the resort filling quickly. This exclusive experience will include a yacht brunch, multi-course dinner, happy hour, scavenger hunt, engaging activities, and lively big band entertainment in a beautiful private resort setting. We are not sure when we will return, so consider joining us this year. Contact Glen Tupler or Laurie Goldberg for more details or to confirm your boat slip or hotel room.
Marlin Bay, Florida Keys, June 18–22 (Father’s Day weekend)
Offering a perfect mix of relaxation and fun, this trip includes docktails, a barbecue pool party, a snorkeling trip, yoga, a group dinner in the upscale clubhouse, and a special Father’s Day brunch. Contact Ramona Fowler for more information, to book your slip or house, or to learn about nearby hotels.
Abacos – Green Turtle Cay, July 14–21
Our exciting summer adventure to the Bahamas—always a highlight filled with unforgettable cruising, island hopping, and great company. Please reach out to Glen Tupler for more information.
We’re always looking for Members who would like to get more involved by hosting, co-hosting, or helping behind the scenes with planning, activities, or event details. It’s a fun and rewarding way to connect with fellow Cruisers and be part of what makes these trips so special—whether big or small, every bit of help makes a difference.
And don’t forget our Monthly Cruisers Group Dinners, held on the second Thursday of each month, are always a lively, welcoming evening filled with great food, friendship, and connection.
We’re looking forward to an amazing season ahead and hope to see you at an upcoming event!

Don’t miss the Kentucky Derby Party at the Pointe on May 2, which promises to be as exciting as a day at the races: delicious food and drink specials, a Best Hat/Best Couples Outfit contest, and—new this year—the first-ever CRYC Inner Tube Pool Derby in our very own pool!
We’re looking for enthusiastic jockeys to race on our Derby Floaties. Simply contact Alan Hogan to sign up or with any questions at 804-928-3820. If you think you have what it takes, please sign up soon while spots are still available. Prizes will be awarded!

Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843. Service members and civilians take part in this long - standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration.
Friday Colors is observed on the First Friday of each Month.
1. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.
2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.

3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff.
4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over.
Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute.
Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminded: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.

Once reserved, check in with our Dockmaster, Jose Alicea, or contact him directly at 954-849-0015 ext. 218 for any questions or concerns.

Whenever you see Sebastian the Seahorse on our adultbased party invitations, it means that the Kids’ Club will be available on that night. So, you can plan your evening knowing that your children will be in safe hands and having a blast.

Please remember our dress code and hat policies as they pertain to the Clubhouse. Hats, caps, or visors are not allowed to be worn inside the Clubhouse (even if you are walking through to the patios or pool deck). However, you can wear hats on the Auxiliary and Burgee Patios. Appropriate bathing suits and cover-ups for ladies and similar for gentlemen and children are permitted on the Auxiliary Patio and, of course, the pool deck dining tables. (No cheeky bottoms or sheer/fishnet coverups are permitted.) Please make sure to share the dress code with your family and friends when bringing them to the Club to prevent any awkward situations.

Your Responsibilities When Visiting Another FCYC Club:
• Reservations should be made with the hosting club. Even if the decision to visit another FCYC club is spur-ofthe-moment, a call to the hosting club is appropriate.
• Be prepared to show evidence of your membership in another Council member club. Carry your membership card; or, be prepared to show it on your mobile phone; or, have a letter of introduction from your club.
• Inquire about dress code when making a reservation.
• Inquire about any club events that may be going on at the time you want to visit.
• Clubs in close geographic proximity to other FCYC member clubs may impose special reciprocity restrictions on the members of those clubs within close proximity. Inquire of your club about any special reciprocity restrictions that may be in place by clubs in close proximity.
• Reciprocity privileges should not be abused, including the frequency with which any one host club is visited.
• A visiting member of another FCYC club is expected to comply with the host club’s governing documents, including house and marina rules.
• Some clubs require visiting boaters to provide proof of insurance and require minimum levels of coverage. Visiting boaters should inquire of such requirements when reserving a slip.
Your Expectations of Privileges When Visiting a Host Club:
• With a few exceptions, a visiting member of another Council club should be treated no differently than a member of the visited (host) club. Two acknowledged exceptions include:
• FCYC member clubs with golf courses are not required to offer golf as a reciprocity benefit.
• Clubs may, in some cases, have a charge for visitor parking.
• Charges of a visiting FCYC member are to be billed back to the visitor’s club. While a host club may offer to settle the charges via credit card, it is the choice of the visiting member whether to settle the charges via credit card or billing to his/her home club.
• With few exceptions, the prices paid for goods and services by a visiting member of another Council for the sale of fuel and for private events hosted for a visiting member.
• Reasonable effort should be made on the part of a host club to honor the reciprocity visit request of a member of another Council club. Seasonal restrictions on reciprocity are not appropriate.
• It is understood that certain special events held at a club may result in the club being unable to extend reciprocity for very short periods of time.
• Any Council member club may decline to extend reciprocity privileges or limit the extent of reciprocal privileges to any individual member of another Council member club.
A comprehensive guide on reciprocity entitled “Reciprocity Standards - Q&A” may be found in Section J of the Council’s Information Binder, copies of which are maintained by your club’s office and FCYC Director.
Did you know your membership allows you to visit other yacht clubs around the country? If you are traveling, consider stopping by a reciprocal club!
CRYC is part of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, which means you have multiple club privileges with first class experiences!
