I am getting advertisements and listings for the shows in the spring and summer and it is getting me excited. I am planning which shows I can go to and what cruise-ins to attend on what days, weather permitting. Swap meets are my thing right now with one planned almost every weekend through the end of March. Swap meets are very different from car shows, swap meets have people walk around with purpose and only linger to talk for a short while. Car shows are the opposite, very little purpose unless it is to see the entire show, and lots of lingering and talking. Shows like Rock and Race or Blue Suede Cruise have all of the facets of car events in one; show and shine, racing, and swap meet along with live music, camping and carnival food.
Do people have cars because they dig the style and would have a cool car even if they were the last person on earth or is the car a deliberate magnet for human interaction? You can go to a car show without a car but having one almost guarantees human interaction. Is that what it is really all about, human contact or is it showing off that is the real motivation? Questions we may never know the answer to or even care about, cars are cool and going to shows exposes us to more cool.
I will be on the hunt for readers’ rides, car of the month (new) and cover cars. I will announce where I am going ahead of time if I can, usually through the show or cruise in directly. I am willing to schedule appearances with your local cruise or show, please contact me at crusintimes@gmail.com or call the office at 216-317-6617.
As always, please contact us with any shows or cruise-ins, I would rather have double notice than no notice. Crusin’ Times main purpose is to inform our readers about the local car scene so please participate if you can. This also includes racing related events, straight line, roundy round, squigly, import, rally, go cart, trucks, tractors or whatever, we’re all gearheads (or petrol heads in British/Austrailian).
The LAST I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama is March 27-29, we will be there set up in the middle as always. We also have Blue Suede Cruise July 23-26, Rock N Race August 27-30 on our schedules right now, more to come.
See you at the shows!

Tony is a car guy, has been since the bug got him as a teenager. His friends are car guys too and that is what got him to the ‘63 Impala SS. Back in 2010, Tony saw the car at a friend’s shop and checked it out, noted it was a really clean car but at the time it was not clearly for sale. A few weeks later he went to Dave and Ed’s swap meet and saw the car in the car corral. He had a leg up on other buyers because he had the scoop on the car and had seen it on a lift. A deal was struck and history for Tony was made. The Impala lived its life in South Carolina until a smart guy brought it to Ohio and probably made some money on it.
It had a crate 350 which replaced the original 327, however a car this nice needed the original engine. In comes another friend, the owner of Jenkins Motors in Westville, Ohio. A 327 block was found but needed rebuilt so why rebuild it stock? 327 heads ported and polished with a MotherThumper cam makes 410 HP and

sounds like a big block, just what the SS needed. The Powerslide transmission was fitted with a shift kit for a better feel and 3.73 gears make it scoot, especially for a big car.
Buffed paint and new glass is all this car needed since it had been restored many years ago. The finishing touch for Tony, the very last set of Spectrum 2000 13 spoke Galaxy chrome steel rims. Tony saw these wheels on another car and the tire shop said they were discontinued. A convincing call to the manufacturer and some luck and they had just enough parts left to make one more set for Tony. These dual pattern wheels came off his Duster for the Impala and I imagine if he gets a different car they will go on that as well.
A sweet package of 1960’s coolness crusin’ around Ohio. Maybe you’ll see Tony around, you’ll hear him before you see him if he is in the Impala.
See you at the shows!

Miller’s Swap Meet and Car Show November 2025
Ever since I started going to this show 3 years ago it has consistently been my favorite one day show/swap meet. The Miller’s Swap Meet and Car Show November 1, 2025 did not change my mind, the show consistently gets bigger and it is run very well. The show has kept getting better for 18 years because it is a family affair with all the people that help are either family or close friends. Family is what this show started for, to help with racing expenses, and this family works together so well that the show runs smoothly and it gets better every time. It is held twice a year in March and November and it doesn’t matter which one, it packs the Ross County Fairgrounds near Chillicothe, Ohio. The 3 buildings they use are full of vendors and this time they put vendors in places they have not used recently because there were so many. The car show also spilled into a part of the fairgrounds I had not seen used before. The weather for November 1st helped a lot, cool but clear, easily handled but Ohioans used to the normal Ohio fluctuations.
The show winners were:
Best GM - Ron Barker
Best Ford - Bill & Julie Holt
Best Mopar - Robert Chronister
Best Truck - Keith McClain
Most Unique - Tim Miller
Best Wagon - Doug & Debby Seats
Best Street Rod - Ed Young
Best Display - Scott Weldy
Best Bike - Steve Elam
Best Import - Dale Bethel
Best Mustang 74 & Newer - Steve Shorten
Best Mustang 73 & Older - Terry Bach
Promoters Choice (Nate) - Steve Kidwell
Promoters Choice (Brian) - Marvin Stulley
Best of Show 87 & Older - Bob Kirst
Best of Show 88 & Newer - Bling Breezy
The family still races and they make sure this is an affordable place to bring your racing parts, old rusty gold from the cluttered garage or find the needle in the haystack part you have been hunting for. The show is open to all motorsports from restoration to racing: race cars, tools, hot rods, apparel, collectibles, rat rods, go karts & more. More info at millersswapmeet.com.The next event is March 14th, 2026 so don’t miss it!
See you at the shows!

“Tanker” the official shop greeter!

Custom Painting • New Engine Builds or Rebuilds • Street Rod and Pro-Street Chassis Fabrication • Partial to Complete Builts.
HAVE A PROJECT? We are currently scheduling projects for the winter. Next year has to be better than the last. People will want to be going out to many cruise in’s and shows with there cars.
WE WORK on customer cars, unlike others who take a large deposit and let your car sit. You’ve all heard the horror stories of guys cars taking years to get fairly simple jobs finished at these shops.
WANT YOUR ROD PAINTED? Again, the horror stories of shops taking a year or longer once they got your BIG deposit. We have you bring your rod to us when we’re ready to start on it, and give it our full attention!

The 2026 Detroit Swap Meet is held in Novi, Michigan at the Suburban Collection Showplace. It is a nice facility which has an open floor plan and big doors to get in as a vendor. The show was Saturday January 3rd 8am-5pm and Sunday January 4th 8am-3pm. Over 4000 attendees and over 320 vendors swap meet spaces and over 57,000 sq feet of floor space. It was a busy show on Saturday but Sunday was a little slow. Deals on Sunday should be plentiful but I think just like a lot of other shows, one day is the new normal. The weather was cold but nice inside and if you come from out of town and spend the night in the Hyatt, you don’t even have to leave the building. The hotel is connected to the venue but there are lots of restaurants, shops and everything else nearby.
The show included all sorts of automotive parts and accessories (new and old), tools and equipment, paint and body supplies and essentially anything automotive related. If you want to save money and beat the mail order prices (and actually see what you’re buying) check it out next year.

The 2026 Ohio Valley Motorsports Show took place at the Boyd County Convention & Arts Center, located near Ashland, Kentucky. The venue features over 10,000 square feet for indoor vendors, a food court, outdoor vendors, and plenty of parking. There were over 50 vendors inside and out. It was over 35 degrees so outside vending wasn’t bad.
This year was my 3rd time at this show and it always does not disappoint. Clean facility, excellent owners and staff and it brings in a good crowd, 600 attendees this time. The show is geared to racing but there are all kinds of deals to be had. We do well at this show because I have a mix of items that appeal to everyone that works on their cars, racing, street or show. This is not a big event but it is good in the sense that there are deals and the people are great. People in southern Ohio and Northeast Kentucky are just so nice. It was warmer there than at home which doesn’t hurt either.
If you live in Cleveland this is too far for the size but if yo u live in southern Ohio, eastern Kentucky or western West Virginia check it out next year.

I built this 1933 steel body Willys with a 1957, 392 hemi with aluminum Hotheads heads. Hilborn upright 4 port injection.
