Piston Powered Cleveland Auto-Rama
W
hen most indoor shows reach their growth, it seems like the Piston Powered Cleveland Auto-Rama is reaching new heights every year. This year the show continued it’s mission “If a piston makes it go, its in the show!” with historical military displays, vintage planes, trucks, motorcycles as well as the usual array of custom cars, hot rods and race cars.

The I-X Center is massive. How big is it? According to Trade Show Magazine, it’s one of the Top 10 Largest Convention Centers in the WORLD - with over 2 million square feet! Compare that with Detroit’s’ Cobo Hall measuring in at ~ 700,000 square feet of exhibit space, the 19th largest convention center in the country. One floor of the Piston Power show held 1,000 vehicles and don’t forget there’s a basement! Show goers are treated to a “Zip Line” that travels along the rafters giving a panoramic view of the show. Families were treated to the only indoor Ferris wheel, so large that it sticks thru the roof (glass enclosed) another added feature you won’t find at any other indoor car show in the world! Take a look at some of the pictures and I think you’ll agree we have some of the finest rod and customs, street machines, and classics in the area!

Piston Powered Cleveland Auto-Rama At this years show there was an auction to raise money for charity. One of the items was a pedal car that was fashioned to look like John’s Shapiro’s “Cruisin’ Times ‘55 Sedan Delivery. He would have loved that. One of our Thunder Row participants bought the pedal car for over $2,000 and donated the entire check to start our scholarship! Thank you to everyone who came out and especially to all of our Thunder Row participants!

Piston Powered Cleveland Auto-Rama The 2018 show will take place March 16 – 18, 2018 at the I-X Center with “When Cleveland Rocks, Auto-Rama Rolls” as the theme. The Auto-Rama will go bumper to bumper with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony by welcoming the event back to Cleveland when it returns in April 2018. The show will start taking applications on July 10, 2017. Application will be available at Summit Racing Equipment in Tallmadge, Ohio or on on-line at pistonpowershow.com. Chester Christian Center Car Cruise!

very year around the middle of July, the folks at the Chester Christian Center put on a huge cruise to celebrate all that’s good about hot rodding! For a donation of your choice, you get fresh cooked hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and the drink of your choice! FREE! The normal number of attendees is around 150 or so of Northern Ohio’s finest hot rods, customs, rat rods, classics and late model hot rods of all kinds! Established in 2003, their first show only had about 30 cars show up. Since then, the number of cars participating has increased drastically. They now expect at least 150 cars each year. Not only has the car show grown, but relationships between Chester Christian Center and community members have been built and continue to grow. Come be a part of this event and its legacy! They offer the convenience of pre-registration! Visit chestercarshow.net to register your car for the upcoming car show. Like I said earlier, at the event, they have music, trivia, free food, prizes, and the first 75 cars receive gift bags and dash plaques! The top 20 cars will receive a plaque/trophy and will be voted on by car owners only. This years event will be on July 8th, 2017 from 10:30am to 3pm with a rain date of July 22nd.
