Behavior on Onah of Separation There are 2 general halachos to follow: Separation
Bedikah
Behavior on Onah of Separation Separation Throughout the onah of separation: Marital relations are forbidden
Praiseworthy to refrain from: Sleeping in one bed Affectionate touch
Behavior on Onah of Separation Bedikah Time of bedikah On Veses Hachodesh and Veses Haflaga – preferably soon after time of day that the flow upon which the current Veses is based began. It can be done later on, but before the end of the onah. On Onah Beinonis – at end of day, shortly before shkiah.

She is permissible once onah is over
Must remain separated until bedikah is done
Behavior on Onah of Separation Leaving on trip Leaving on trip close to onah of separation Husband should avoid leaving on trip the day following an onah of separation due to his obligation to be intimate with his wife before he travels If he needs to travel and will miss instance when obligated to provide tashmish:
Halachically permitted
Preferable
Tashmish after bedikah
Appease wife to absolve him of obligation and instead share external gestures of love

After Dates of Anticipation Pass Pregnancy test If a week passed after final onah marked on calendar and she hasn’t gotten period yet, suggested to take pregnancy test
Home pregnancy test can be bought in any pharmacy
If test comes back negative Doctor should conduct a more reliable test and look into reason for the delay in her period

Starting from 90 days after mikvah night
Pregnancy and Nursing When is woman halachically considered nursing? She is considered to be mesulekes damim for 24 months post birth even if not actually nursing
If underwent c-section consult Rav regarding status

If woman had a miscarriage chas veshalom after 40 days of pregnancy
She is considered to be mesulekes damim for the following 24 months afterwards

She shouldn’t bleed at all
Likely to receive period even while nursing
If she sees blood, she should consult doctor
Even when considered mesulekes damim, she still calculates vestos from flows she has during this time
Pregnancy and Nursing Two practical applications for woman who is a mesulekes damim: She doesn’t establish a Veses Kavua even if she gets 3 consecutive periods that follow a certain pattern
She doesn’t keep dates of anticipation based on flows from before this status
Example: If she saw blood during third month of pregnancy, she needn’t keep dates of anticipation in fourth month

Additional Types of Cycles Veses Haguf If there is a specific and clear symptom that seems directly synchronized with the period: Consult Rav whether she should anticipate menstruation and perform bedikah the next time she experiences the same symptom This does not include the sensitive emotional state that can surface due to hormonal shifts If the symptom and period are in separate onos – consult Rav
Additional Types of Cycles Veses Hakefitzos If her period began 3 times on account of specific activity:
E.g. physical exertion or eating spicy food She must perform bedikah every time she does that activity Rav should be consulted to ascertain status
Additional Types of Cycles Medications that affect menstrual cycle If a woman takes medications that regulate her period: Her expected period is based on the medication’s schedule is marked as time of separation
The other dates of anticipation calculated from previous flows: Consult Rav whether they must also be kept
