Laugh Often
In addition to the opening ceremonies of the winter Olympics in Beijing on February 4, and Super Bowl Sunday, February 13, we are looking forward to our fabulous Valentine’s Day candlelight dinner. Plan on bringing an appetite. Cat and crew will be serving steak, shrimp cocktail, spinach and berry salad, loaded bake potatoes, and bacon wrapped asparagus. Add to that some good drink to toast and the topper: Red Velvet cake. Now that will be an occasion you can love!
Did you know that laughing is good for the heart? Laughing can increase blood flow by 20%. The experts at WebMD say that one study found that when people watched a funny movie, their blood flow increased. Consider laughter as the perfect antidote to stress. When you laugh, the lining of your blood vessel walls relaxes and expands.
Couples and Communities Couples who have been married for many years and have been through ups and downs may feel guilty when they can no longer care for an ailing or frail spouse. They may think that they have somehow failed. But the truth is that caregiving is hard. If the caregiving-spouse is elderly, this can be a real strain on them as they deal not only with the physical demands but also juggling the emotions and fears of their loved one’s health or memory decline. In addition, the spouse who needs more assistance may not have the ability to be there emotionally for a worried spouse. The cared for spouse may feel depressed or frustrated that they are not able to do more. In the end, it is a challenging situation to be in. The best solution may be an assisted living community. Each will be able to relax; get the assistance they need and thrive in a supportive setting. At Northglenn, couples are welcome!
So have a good giggle. Your heart will thank you. Game from w w w . A l l F r e e P r i n t a b l e . c o m

Update from Maranatha
Clean water is critical to survival. It is estimated that in sub-Saharan Africa there are more than 300 million people without access to safe drinking water. In response to the crisis, Maranatha began drilling water wells and providing pumps to communities in Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Cote d’Ivoire and Angola. When you turn on the tap today, take a minute to think how much different your life would be if you had to draw water from a well. And then think—what if there wasn’t a well? Or what if the well you could access was a 5 mile walk away? Crossroads Senior Living is currently working with Maranatha to find a community in Zambia or Kenya that needs a well.
