Crossroads TV: Channel 8 Many of you have expressed gratitude for the monitors around the community that feature our upcoming schedule, weather information, pictures of you and your friends and other interesting media. Now, you can see that and more on the TV in your room if you are using our inhouse TV service. Channel 8, available to all Assisted Living and Memory Care residents, is now featuring all the helpful information you see on the community monitors and more. As of this writing, you’ll see regular exercise and stretching programs, live cameras of all kinds of animals, bird feeders around the country and the live cameras at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It costs $60 to get into the Aquarium, and here, in your own room, you can enjoy the seals, the sharks, and colorful fish—no charge! At 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM every day, a Maranatha Mission Stories will repeat. The plan is to change programs like this each week. And if you have an idea for a video you like to watch on YouTube that you think others would enjoy, please let Dennis know about it and if we can, we’ll add it to the lineup. This is your TV channel. Imagine hosting 50,000 visitors a year. And the visitors are mostly kids coming to camp while also serving adults as a retreat center. That’s Camp Kulaqua’s challenge in High Springs, Florida. With that kind of traffic, you can only imagine the annual renovations needed to keep running smoothly. That’s where groups of Maranatha Volunteers come into play. Nearly every year, a group of dedicated volunteers arrive in January and turn months of work into a week of major accomplishments. This year’s team was installing roofs, mending and painting fences, walling off a new sign shop, reorganizing the camp’s nature center, and raking leaves. Some volunteers also experienced the unique task of building a hawk enclosure for Camp Kulaqua’s zoo. “It was awesome! In such a short time, they accomplished so much!” remarked Camp Kulaqua’s Coordinator for Volunteer Services, Ben Rivera. Each year Maranatha works with organizations in the United States and ation Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation hes, and projects at summer camps and retreat centers, schools, and churches, ode, saves thousands of dollars in labor costs.
