Those who have been willing to brave the heat have been having good catches. The pressure eased a little and the fish have been tearing hooks up on the Hatchie Wildlife Refuge. There are an abundance of lakes and you just have to take a chance on which one to fish because they all are mature lakes loaded with all species. Recent reports have proved that crappie are biting well right now even with the temps in the 90’s. They have been biting at various levels at different time of the day. Generally people think crappie only bite well in spring and fall but they will bite year around if you continue to fish for them. They don’t stick signs out the water with saying I’m biting and they don’t take vacations so you know they are still in the lake. Swam Lake is doing well right now as well as Bull Pen which are located close to each other. The Hart Lakes , Powell Lakes, Woody and Kelso are all located close together so you can try one lake and cruise over to another without ever having to leave the refuge. If you haven’t been get the kids and head out to the Great Outdoors of West Tennessee for a good time on the Hatchie.

TWO NASHVILLE MEN ARRESTED ON HEROIN CHARGES; 4 GUNS AND $30,000 CASH SEIZED Nashville - 7/28/2020 Two men suspected of dealing heroin in Nashville and Cheatham County are facing charges in both jurisdictions tonight following the execution of a search warrant at their 240 Haynes Park Drive residence. Prokerryon Primm, 41, and Rotez McNeal, 29, are presently jailed in Ashland City for heroin distribution. In Nashville, warrants have been issued charging them with multiple heroin and unlawful gun possession counts. Seized from the residence today were 33 grams of heroin, two rifles, two pistols, and more than $30,000 cash believed to be the proceeds from heroin sales. The arrests and seizures are the result of an investigation by the MNPD’s Specialized Investigations Division, the TBI, and the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office.

In July of 2019, Agents and deputies began an investigation into reports of illegal narcotics being sold by an individual in Crockett County.Ê Between July and September of 2019, at least two convert purchases of methamphetamine Amber Cocker were conducted involving Amber Cocker.Ê On July 27, 2020, the Crockett County Grand Jury indicted Cocker on two drug offenses.Ê On July 31st, Cocker was taken into custody during a traffic stop in which officers discovered methamphetamine and two loaded firearms. Cocker (DOB: 9/13/90) was booked into the Crockett County Jail on two counts of Sale of Schedule II (methamphetamine).Ê Her HAROLD E. (WKRN) — A summer camp instructor has been charged with multiple counts of rape after an eight-year-old camper was sexually assaulted numerous times over a two-year period, an arrest warrant $140 alleges. Goodlettsville police arrested Joshua Webb, 24, Monday evening on seven counts of child rape and Twin Sets one count of aggravated sexual battery on a child. Detectives said he was a martial arts instructor and summer camp counselor at Chris White’s Extreme Martial Arts. According to an arrest warrant, the eight-year-old $130 victim told a friend on July 29 that Webb, an instructor at the summer camp she attended, “had been touching her on multiple occasions for almost two years.”

All inmates and staff at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex will be tested for COVID-19. JMC SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-OPENINGÊ Dear Superintendent King,Ê Black parents have good reason to be cautious about blindly sending their kids back to school, especially given the COVID-19 spikes in Madison County and disproportionate black deaths from COVID-19. A recent NAACP Poll of a national sample of African Americans found that 80% of those polled preferred to hold off on ending the shutdowns to assure their safety, ahead of boosting the economy. Public schools should not re-open unless all Center for Disease Control (CDC) protections and indicators (based on symptoms, based on cases, and based on hospital readiness measures) are satisfied. This CDC analysis must be done for each county where there are schools.Ê But if schools do re-open, we demand that school districts provide quality, equally accessible, public, noncharter on-line programs for students whose parents or caretakers do not feel comfortable sending them back to school under present conditions.Ê And because the pandemic is exacerbating pre-existing structural race issues in education, we also demand that you re-examine the district’s approach to addressing the literacy crisis, that you address the digital divide in homes and schools, that you work closely with State officials to provide equitable funding and resources for public schools, and that the school district re-evaluate the negative ways black students are often perceived, treated, educated, and/or disciplined. SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS TO GO VIRTUAL WHEN CLASSES RESUME LATER THIS MONTH MEMPHIS, Tenn. wreg.com— Shelby County School students will be learning from home when classes resume August 31.ÊIn a video posted online, Superintendent Dr. Joris Ray said students will be learning virtually for the foreseeable future due to the pandemic. Teachers will have the option to educate from home or from their classroom. “It is nothing less than tragic that public health of our children and our community has turned into partisan noise,” Ray said in the video. “Public safety cannot be about politics. It must be about science.”

THE 4TH TURNING by Elvis Rogers, columnist History does not happen in a straight line. It goes in a circle. Throughout the history of our country and indeed throughout the history of the civilized world we have followed a pattern of thought that has been very predictable. Certain things happen in cycles and it has been very easy to see the pattern. It happens in cycles of 80100 years, or about the span of a human life. First, there is a great crisis. This crisis is followed by a period of 20-25 years (known as the “high period”). This is followed by another phase, the “2nd turning” that last about another 20-25 years. This phase is called “The Awakening” and then it’s followed by the 3rd phase in the next 20-25 years (The Unraveling). The 4th phase leads back to another crisis period. Then it repeats. These changes are brought about by the influences of the changing generations. To review the last and most current cycle we see that we had the crisis of WWII followed by a period of 20-25 years during which people sought safety and security. Institutions were established Standard were set in place. People conformed. It was a time of less individualism, more cohesive civic involvement, less emphasis on the arts, an incredible building boom, and increased public works. During the next turning (The Awakening) a new generation had matured and began to resent and resist those established norms and they sought to over-turn and re-establish the norms. They found the old ways to be limiting and constraining. Individualism grew and in 20-25 more years we entered the 3rd phase (The Unraveling). At this point we are now 2-3 generations removed from the last crisis. People that were around for the last crisis are dying off. Not many folks remain that remember it or lived through it. Society begins to break apart and separate into smaller splinter groups. A clear, unified sense of direction starts to disappear. Everything is now questioned. People lose faith in all the old norms. This includes government, social structures, religion, the economy. Even words like “truth” or “facts” become relevant terms. This leads to the fourth phase, the “4th turning”, and the next crisis. We are now in the middle of the 4th generational phase. It began in 2008 with the recession. and if history holds true will continue until sometime between 2025-2030. The events of this year are not the crisis. They are events leading up to it. The actual crisis, when it gets here, will re-shape our country, our culture, and our society and we will emerge in a new and different place. The time we are in now is very much like America in the 1930’s, the 1850’s, the 1760’s. The outcome will be just as dramatic. The worry is that we just don’t yet know what the outcome will be or the direction is that we will turn. At least most of us will be here to see it. So, just enjoy the last half of the 4th turning as it plays out ,or crawl into a bunker. I guess just do whatever works for you. Peace...…..”E”

The CrimeSEEN Examiner Newspaper has received calls and complaints from readers regarding this “claw pile of trash” continuing to grow daily and after repeated calls for pick up service to Waste Management, the trash continues to be a major eye sore for the area.Ê At least 5 residents said they have reported this trash pick up request to Waste Management and have not got a commitment for when it will be cleaned up. “When I call requesting trash pick up usually they won’t give you a date when it will be picked up and this pile is hazardous for children in the neighborhood and makes our neighborhood look terrible,” said Tate Anderson. “We try keeping the area clean and please help us get this trash picked up, others are staring to come by and throw their trash on the pile and we are becoming an area dumping ground,” added Anderson” The CSE contacted health and sanitation office and made them aware of this pile of trash and residents who have reported complaints.
FOLLOW UP ON TRASH PILE COMPLAINT STORY MIDDLETON STREET - ILLEGAL DUMPING CITED Received follow up call from City Administrative Assistant Alex Reed (right) in City of Jackson Mayor’s office and he immediately followed up on the complaint and shortly afterwards I received a call from Lelonie from health and sanitation office. Health and sanitation explained this was a commercial contractor trash pile that should be taken to the landfill by the commercial contractor. In the interim Lane College maintenance department will bring in two large containers to put all the trash in ASAP and have ready for transport to the landfill ASAP. In the interim the trash will be held in the containers and Lane College is in process of installing a security fence in the area to prevent further illegal dumping in the area. Health and sanitation and Mayor Conger’s office was most helpful and appreciated being made aware of the citizens complaints being brought to their attention too. “Certainly we want citizens to receive their solid waste collection on a timely basis“ said Reed. The CSE staff will continue to monitor this area and keep readers updated on the status of this trash pile until it’s cleaned up.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority celebrates 60 years According to Tawanika McKinney this year the Jackson TN Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc celebrated 60 years of the Miss Bronze of West Tennessee Scholarship Pageant. The pageant was founded during segregated times by Dr. Anna Cooke, in order to give African American young ladies the opportunity to compete for scholarship funds for college. Although the COVID 19 pandemic wouldn’t allow our grand celebration as planned we were still able to honor this year’s contestants with a commemorative plague and a scholarship.

The job of increasing options and opportunities for all JMCSS students, teachers, and families is a big task. Thankfully our community is blessed with caring professionals who also desire to see JMCSS win. Here are just a few examples. I had a great lunch meeting with Boys & Girls Club executive director, Sabrina Anderson (right). We will have a great partnership that is growing for the benefit of our employees and their children. I am begging her to provide childcare for teachers/staff during the 2-week in-service training. Another caring professional on the JMCSS team is Jason Moore (left) with the Emergency Management Operations Center. This guy is extremely resourceful and is willing to help JMCSS in any way as we tackle this COVID-19 pandemic. And our final spotlight is for a supporter who has a heart for JMCSS. Mandy Jackson, a representative from State Farm, who was also a 20-year veteran teacher, collected school supplies for teachers as an appreciation gift for the start of the school year. This is just one of State Farm’s Community Service Projects that will benefit JMCSS students!

DR. MELVIN WRIGHT RETIRES WITH A SMILE A little over two years ago, I met and hired Dr. Melvin Wright who help to make Helping Hands of Tennessee Dental Clinic possible.Ê His leadership is unparalleled and I am happy that he is getting the opportunity to have a positive retirement into a new direction. Although,Ê Dr. Wright will no longer practice chair side dentistry,Ê he will still help address Helping Hands of Tennessee through our oral outreach program.Ê Wright has been dedicated to serving our Jackson community and he deserves our respect.
