CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 Jamal Voss, (right) 17, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder of Alexis Branch and her unborn daughter, and attempted first-degree murder after Branch’s 8-year-old daughter and another person were injured in the December 2019 shooting. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Voss was transferred from juvenile court to adult court after a hearing on Wednesday before Haywood County Juvenile Court Judge Roland Reid. Branch was 8 months pregnant at the time of the shooting. Branch’s 8-year-old daughter was paralyzed over parts of her body as a result, according to the TBI. Voss remains in custody without bond while he awaits his first appearance in Haywood County Circuit Court.

Today, April 3rdÊat 1:30 pm, Juvenile Court Judge Christy Little held a detention hearing regarding the Juvenile charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree murder. He was explained his rights and appointed attorney Ernest Brooks. The District Attorney’s Office advised that they intend to file a motion to transfer this matter to adult court. A forensic order was signed by the VICTIMS: (ABOVE) Kordell Bass and Kortez Waller (BELOW) Judge. An assessment at Pathways pursuant to the transfer statute was signed. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, no court date for the transfer hearing has been set. The juvenile will be held at the Madison County Detention Center until this matter can be resolved.
RECAP: The Jackson Police DepartmentÊcharged a 17 year old juvenile in connection with the double homicide which occurred Tuesday March 31st, 2020 on Breezewood Cove. HUMBOLDT POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN AGGRAATED BURGLARY On April 1, 2020 officers of the Humboldt Police Department responded to a location on Ethridge Street where a Robbery had just occurred. A black male and a black female subjects entered the home of the 93- year-old victim pushed him to the floor and took property & money from the victim. After an investigation Tacarra Lynette Turner a 24- year-old black female from Humboldt has been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, Assault and Theft of Property. Jackson Mayor Conger “closes park” Coronavirus updates: Monday March 30, Jackson City Mayor Scott Conger announced that all city parks were closed as of 8:00 pm Sunday evening in an effort to slow the virus spread in the Jackson area. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluations projects Tennessee to reach its peak number of cars by mid to late April.Ê It estimates 14,945 hospital beds are needed for severely sick COVID-19 patients, the state only has about half that currently available. According to Amy Garner, communications director for West Tennessee Healthcare, “we have not reached our peak and the data is sobering. People need to continue to stay home and be diligent.” The situation is more complicated in the rural West Tennessee areas which has been plagued with hospital closings.Ê West Tennessee Healthcare reports having around 1,200 beds throughout its seven
locations.Ê But roughly half those beds are being used by current patients suffering from other life threatening ailments. The hospital system has made efforts to reduce its patient population by eliminating all elective procedures.Ê Thanks to those reductions Jackson Madison County General Hospital reported having roughly 350 available beds and 57 of the hospital system’s 90 ventilators.Ê The IHME projected that 0.02% of state will be hospitalized by April 19, which projecting out evenly means that 1,104 could be hospitalized in West Tennessee.Ê “The bottom line is we expect these numbers are going to increase so people have got to stay home so we can flatten the curve” said Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris.
