Find Your Five | A C ommunity Values Discovery Guide
Notice. Narrow. Name.
Your community already has a soul. You can feel it.
Uncover its essence by noticing what’s already alive, narrowing in on what matters most, and naming those values in your own voice.
Step 1: NOTICE
These five values will guide how you design recognition, create culture, and celebrate your members not for what they do, but for how they show up.
Start by observing. What’s already happening in your community that makes it feel good, safe, alive?
Prompts:
What transformation are you holding space for?
What do your most aligned members do naturally? What makes your community feel different from others?
Step 2: NARROW
Important | First from the attached values list from Brené Brown, check √ the ones that are important to you or add your own
MOST important | Then, from those you’ve checked, highlight or circle the 10 MOST important values that feel aligned, embodied, or aspirational for your community.
YOUR FIVE | Finally, gently narrow it to YOUR FIVE
Step 3: NAME
Your Voice | Now bring your values to life in your voice. For each of your five chosen values, give it a short phrase or example that sounds like your community. Examples: Integrity → Do what you say you’ll do Curiosity → Stay curious, not judgmental Community → We grow together
Step 4. Your final step is to set these up in your community. (Admin → Gamification → Community Values)
