

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 16, 1920, on the campus of Howard University on the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. Our founders, Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings and Fannie Pettie Watts, collectively known as the “Five Pearls,” set out to establish a sisterhood that would help raise the consciousness of their people, encourage the highest standards of academic and personal achievement, and address the societal ills disproportionately affecting disadvantaged communities.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Delta Zeta Chapter was chartered on December 4, 1934 by five (5) dynamic woman: Ethel Butler, Thelma Harris Hunt, Lucille Robinson, Laura Davidson Rollings and Sarah Scott Schofield, with the vision that service to our community will be our greatest legacy.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Delta Zeta Chapter is the longest standing, preeminent chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., in Charlotte, NC and has been recognized for its Z-Hope (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) initiatives, raising funds for the March of Dimes and its youth mentorship. It is the home to over 140 professional women who each believe in the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and the ideals of Finer Womanhood.
Established in 2001 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation is funded through planned gifts, annual contributions and grants. The foundation’s mission is to secure and manage resources that enable the chapter’s philanthropic support to the Charlotte community. The Benevolent Foundation implements cultural, educational, and civic initiatives to help people excel and reach their full potential.
Since its inception, Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation has partnered with AARP, Adopt-a-Highway, American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, MedAssist, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Autism Charlotte and others.
In addition to the work it achieves with national, regional and local partners, Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation service activities and events include Bowing for Babies, Easter Egg Hunt, Adopt-a-School, elder care support for local senior living communities, and annual scholarships for area high school students.

Welcome to the Miss Blue Revue Cotillion, proudly presented by the Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation and the Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. We are overjoyed to celebrate this special evening in person and even more excited to share that this year’s program serves as a pilot of a reimagined Miss Blue Revue program. While this has been a year of learning and growing for us all, we are grateful for the opportunity to reintroduce this meaningful tradition to the Charlotte community. Our goal is to empower young women, and we’re confident this program will continue to improve and grow as we strive to achieve this goal.
Tonight, we have the distinct honor of presenting eight phenomenal debutantes—each one full of potential and purpose. Delta Zeta Chapter is deeply committed to delivering meaningful youth programs, and our members take immense pride in being part of the debutantes’ journey. Over the past several months, these young women have participated in workshops and social experiences to further their development. Their commitment to academic excellence, scholarship, and personal growth has been truly inspiring.
We sincerely thank the parents for their patience, grace, and continued support as we worked through the program. Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation
Dr. Jennifer Brown is an experienced executive and community servant who recently relocated back to Charlotte, NC. In May 2024, she joined the KIPP Foundation as a Regional Superintendent, overseeing a portfolio of 14 KIPP regions to drive outcomes for students. KIPP is the largest national network of public charter schools, with more than 120,000 students in over 250 schools. Prior to joining the KIPP Foundation, Dr. Brown served as the Executive Director of KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools in Florida. Under her leadership, school grades improved and student enrollment tripled to nearly 3,000 students. She was named a 2023 Ultimate CEO and Woman of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
Dr. Brown joined KIPP Jacksonville in 2015 as chief academic officer, following a diverse career at education nonprofits, urban and rural school districts, and military service as a Broadcast Journalist who deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She received both her B.A. and M.A. in English from Winthrop University and her Ed.D in Education Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Brown is a member of the Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and the Charlotte (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. She is happily married to Derek and they have an adult son, Darion, and two daughters, Alexa and Bellamy.

Saniah, a senior at Valor Preparatory Academy, plans to major in nursing at Winston-Salem State University. Saniah likes to read, play volleyball, and hang out with her friends. She also participates in LEAD Girls of NC, InTech, Top Teens of America, and Upward Bound at Johnson C. Smith University.
