Join the movement: The Youth and Community Funding Generator

The Youth and Community Funding Generator is a threeyear programme in partnership with Game Changed Network CIC and Doncaster Council who are aiming to bring in over £500k worth of funding to the area

This programme has been expanded after a successful pilot in 2025 which bought over £200k into the Doncaster area.

This funding helped to open up warm spaces, run boxing projects to support mental health, open up youth clubs, expand youth work and deliver sports programmes for adults living with longterm health conditions and equipment purchases.

Charities, CICs and Community Amateur Sports clubs keep 100% of any funding they are awarded.

They also take advantage of free safeguarding and first aid training.

The Youth and Community Funding Generator can support organisations with applications for project funding, core costs, equipment and redevelopment work.

They can also support community groups in becoming incorporated if they were to set up a CIC.

Amie Canham, director of Game Changed Network CIC told Thorne Local: “I helped co-found the organisation in 2018 to deliver positive change across Yorkshire.

“We deliver our own projects including crime diversion projects, mental health support and employability programmes. As we have grown as an organisation we want to use our experience to help others.

“I will be delivering the funding generator over the next three years and will be organisations’ direct point of contact.”

Who can apply

Any charities, CICs or CASCs in the Doncaster area can contact Amie for support by emailing: amie.canham@groupmgmt.co.uk

The Jackson Hope Foundation is

dedicated to bringing and peer-to-peer support

people from all walks of

The group listens to the needs of their community and continuously adapts and grows its services to provide the support people want and need

The organisation was set up by Mark who was struggling after his mother and partner sadly passed away within a few months of each other.

Starting off with the Men’s Hope Hubs this quickly developed into so much more as they realised the need for hope in all areas for men and women alike.

They have now expanded to having over 30 groups across Doncaster and are continuously growing and providing more peer support services based on what people need.

All of their facilitators are volunteers, many of whom first attended a group themselves before going on to lead their own sessions.

This ensures their groups are shaped by real experiences and genuine understanding.

For example, they now offer a bereavement group that was developed by a facilitator who felt passionate about supporting others through loss. We also work in partnership with Addicted to Recovery, delivering hope circles to support people on their recovery journey. Groups are always developed in response to need and demand. By empowering volunteers to lead their own groups, they not only expand support in the community but also help individuals build confidence and purpose through giving back, which is recognised as one of the key ways to wellbeing.

Foundation bringing hope support to of life

Hope Walk

The Jackson Hope Foundation meets at Bridge Street Car Par, Thorne, at 10am every Sunday where one of their friendly facilitators will meet and greet anyone attending. They have a walk down through the Memorial Park and along the canal and circle back. The walk takes around 40-50 minutes and is suitable for all abilities, men and women of all ages and dogs are welcome too.

These walks provide an opportunity for gentle exercise while giving people a relaxed space to talk, connect with others, and share their thoughts and experiences.

Pool Pals

Every Sunday at 12pm they meet at Thorne Snooker Club for a few friendly games of pool, snooker and occasionally dominoes.

Their facilitators are there to have a chat, and members enjoy spending time together, connecting and having fun.

There is an annual club membership fee of £10, and table hire costs 50p per game, which is usually shared between those playing.

You don’t need to be experienced or bring any equipment, as everything is available at the club and there will always be someone happy to show you how to play if you’re new.

The Jackson Hope Foundation has events and activities across Doncaster every day of the week.

Details of all their groups and services are available on their website and up-todate information is shared continuously on their Facebook page: The Jackson Hope Foundation.
