FROM A POLICE PERSPECTIVE:
Introducing Bobbi: Policing’s First AI virtual assistant This month, Humberside Police tells us how they are proud to be one of the first forces in the country to trial a pioneering new way for the public to get in touch At the end of last year they introduced the AI virtual assistant, known as Bobbi, which is designed to answer frequently asked, nonemergency questions that would normally come into the Force Control Rooms and get directed to a call handler. Alongside the existing online forms, telephone lines, and front counters, Bobbi offers an additional service, giving members of the public the ability to ask questions and seek advice 24/7. Bobbi interacts like a human but is fully automated, using trusted information to provide guidance or point you in the right direction on a wide range of policing topics. All the information Bobbi uses has been provided by Humberside Police, as well as Thames Valley Police and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, who are also trialling the system.

The advice Bobbi gives is based on the same information the call handlers use, but if Bobbi can’t answer your question, or if you ask to speak to a person, your chat will be transferred to one of their human operators. The team are busy monitoring, evaluating, and analysing feedback to ensure the system works effectively and that members of the public can continue to contact them without any issues. Leading the initiative for Humberside Police, Assistant Chief Officer Chris Philpott said: “We are proud to bring this new service to our area and will continue to share updates as the system develops.” To access Bobbi, all you have to do is head to the Humberside Police website and click on the blue speech bubble in the bottom right hand corner of the page.

Can you believe we are celebrating our tenth birthday? No, we can’t either! It only feels like yesterday when it all began, but here we are celebrating Our Goole turning 10 this month. We are super excited to have got this far and cannot wait for many more years. This month, local property expert David Leake from The Property Experts talks to us about inflation and interest rates Lower inflation and interest rate cuts should support “modest” house price growth in 2026 New forecasts suggest inflation will fall faster than anticipated next year, which should allow two or three base rate cuts, hopefully boosting homebuyer budgets by making mortgages cheaper. House prices are forecast to rise by 2.5% next year, with stronger growth in the Midlands and North where affordability is less stretched. Transaction volumes are likely to remain the same, predominantly supported by necessitydriven moves – such as growing families and relocations – but still remain slightly below historic norms.
The absence of a Stamp Duty holiday, traditionally a catalyst for activity, means sentiment will rely more on economic factors. House price growth across Great Britain is forecast to be at 2.0% in 2027 and then 1.5% in 2028 as political uncertainty becomes a more prominent driver of sentiment ahead of the 2029 General Election. Over the four-year forecast period, the North East is set to see the strongest growth (16.4%), followed by Scotland (13.6%) and Yorkshire & The Humber (12.5%)
