With two out of the five year groups sitting external exams in the near future, the Lent term is traditionally one of the more hectic times of the year. It may be short in weeks but it seems that the boys don’t stop. I have really enjoyed seeing so many of them getting into so many different aspects of school life. In particular Cranleigh Live was a real standout for me and I was so proud to see so many East boys up there on stage. Either performing or helping No doubt all the boys need a break but it is vital that the holidays are productive, so that all year groups come back on the front foot in April. Congratulations in particular to the mighty U15’s who won their tournament!!!! Amazing to beat the favourites in their second match. The U14’s came 2nd and the U16’s won their group.

Harry Cripp
House debating went well, sort of. We thought that we had some tremendous arguments, we thought that we knew the motion and we would win easily but turns out that nobody knew what we were debating!!! The motion was “this House would engage in active protest against the election of President Trump.” We had some incredible arguments and our team, which consisted of the eloquent Tom Hollidge, the influential Adam Forrester and the moderate to average Harry Cripp, was second to none. Unfortunately, we could go two ways with our argument depending on how the obscure motion was intended to be interpreted. We assumed one way but of course we chose the wrong direction. Despite our loss the display of immense talent from our speakers was heartening. A display of true argumentative talent.
