An East Win in the Senior House Tennis

House tennis was another huge success for East as we retained the tle for, what is believed to be, the 25th year in a row. When looking at the teams at the start of the day, it appeared like it would a ght compe on. However, contribu ons in the third and fourth pairs made up of Michael Dolman, Josh Wise, Rowan v‐s and Ma Cordwell, made sure it was another East event to remember. East managed to brush aside all three houses only losing in one match. Well done to the team which also included Giles Pamplin, Ollie Metcalfe, and Will Dean – a great performance from everyone.
Seniors smash Loveday in House Cricket and the Juniors finish 3rd Ted Croker and Rufus Wilkinson Senior XI In the semi‐final, we played North who we put in to bat first. Charlie Rollings and Harry Adolphus got us off to a great start. Despite losing a few up top, we con nued to score well. Ul mately, we finished with a strong 199 runs. North didn’t score quickly and the increasing pressure from Bruno Broughton and Harry Adolphus with the ball led to an East win. In the final, we came up against a strong Loveday side. We bowled first and throughout the innings we Junior XI fielded well. When pace was taken off the ball, the wickets started to fall. This truly was a fantas c team effort, In the 3rd/4th play‐off we were put up against and this victory broke the six year reign of Loveday Cubi who won the toss and ba ed. Some good bowling from Lafosse, Harvey, Thomas and Jerrick domina ng Senior House cricket. ski led the team, apart from Will Calnan who injected 60 runs quickly giving them a total of 104. Harvey Jackson hit an excellent 42 runs from very few balls and good knocks from both George Thomas and Alex Jefferies helped to get us across the line. The winning runs were elegantly dispatched by the one and only Max Lafosse who ended up with a strike rate of 400, not bad!

A whole House performance in the Swimming compe Louis Charlton

This year’s House swimming was a li le disappoin ng but never the less incredibly fun. The Juniors had some good performances from James Anderson and Nick Going who both managed to scrape a 2nd place. In the Intermediates Chris Kinally and Ollie Hill held it together each swimming an event they normally wouldn’t do but s ll placing well. The Senior compe on was a li le be er with wins in all but three races. There were some awesome performances from Ben Durston and Paul Gallagher. Ben managed to break this season’s school record for the 100m freestyle, and Paul completely destroyed the opposi on in his events and always had a substan al lead at the finish. Overall, we came 3rd which we were pleased with considering that only one member of the Juniors and Inters was in the School swimming team. A good performance from all who swam and I am sure that our swimming will go from strength to strength next year.

Seniors clinch victory in Golf…. Ma Cordwell We were pitched against Cubi in the first round and with two sets of clubs between a team of 5, a place in the final was not looking likely. However, me was running out for Cubi to even arrive at the course and we were not going to take any late arrivals lightly. With one no show, the score was 1‐ …. and the House raises money 0 before we even started. Overall, it was a successful day with the school raising nearly £25,000 for the project. Tom Gudgeon, Jamie Harrison and Archie Clarke all from East shaved their heads for Tildys’ Trust, a charity setup in memory of Cranleighian Tilda Curran, to help with the fight against leukaemia in young people. The boys were three of her close friends at school and they managed to raise over £2,500. Well done!
