Housemaster’s Comments As the wind whistles the leaves around Loveday Quad the sunny start of term seems a long way away. Yet in the fourteen weeks this term the boys of Loveday have been incredibly busy as the depth and breadth of the activities reviewed in this newsletter is testament to. It has been both an exciting and challenging term for me with the arrival of baby William in October and but also my ongoing back issues (now thankfully mending), however the extended Loveday community has been as supportive as ever and Claire and I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to you all. Lent term dates for your diary: Upper Sixth Leavers Dinner (parents and boys), 7.30 p.m. Friday 10th February Loveday House Charity Weekend, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th March I would like to wish you all a joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year, from my family to yours. great fun. The next day we did team building at the school, we were split up into groups of about 12 people, with two or three 6th formers. We went round on a circulation of activities we were judged on them and given scores then at the end the team with the most points received a prize. It was great fun and helped me gain lots of friends.
Horse Riding This year the NSEA riding championships were held at Addington. In the show jumping we managed to get one team through to the jump off in which they came eighth. Unfortunately in the open class we didn’t manage to retain our title as national champions. On the dressage it was a more successful story. With our dressage team they picked up a first to become national champions. Tom also rode a fantastic test to pick up fifth. At the riding school, Loveday has several people starting from the foundations including Fourth form Team Building weekend Orlando and Charlie On the first weekend at Cranleigh all the Fourth Humberstone. In the end we went unplaced, but this didn’t matter as everyone who had taken part enjoyed the experience to the full.
Public speaking We only got told about the public speaking two days before it started and we quickly assembled a team of Eddie Mitchell, Orlando Taylor and Georgio Bounous , with help from Charlie Humberstone and Ali Young. We decided a topic about the Health Lottery, which we all thought was relevant at the time as well as interesting.
