he Sales & Marketing Executives of Cleveland ( SME Cleveland) organiz ation aims to offer its members a variety of opportunities, from networking and skill development to building business leads and company awareness. “ You can brainstorm with likeminded professionals within your own industry and other industries,” says R obin D oerschuk, director of learning and development for Alliance Solutions G roup in Independence, and a former D istinguished Marketing & Sales Award ( D MSA) recipient. “ Speakers are always

coming in with new, fresh ideas pushing our industry from a sales and marketing perspective.” SME Cleveland, under executive director Mary Margaret L avelle, supports its more than 300 members and 38 corporate members by maintaining a focus on assisting members in reaching their sales and marketing goals and improving their skills. Mark Owens, chief marketing officer for Skylight F inancial G roup and a 2016 D MSA recipient, says SME Cleveland stands out against other groups for being well-structured in its organiz ational capacity and engagement of its members. “ The variety of events they host throughout

the year are great in that there is always going to be something that appeals to all members at some point, be it a guest speaker or business after-hours event,” Owens said. The 56th annual D MSA Awards will acknowledge excellence in the profession and provide recognition for outstanding sales and marketing achievement. Presented at the annual awards banque t, which this year is F eb. 16 at the W estin Cleveland D owntown, the D MSA program also will honor the B usiness Executive of the Year. Selection criteria are based on the demonstration of the highest business, professional and ethical standards. D ave J ohnson, director of public relations

and communication for the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and G lobal Center for Health Innovation, says receiving a 2014 D MSA award was one of his greatest professional achievements in 30 years of working in public relations and marketing. “ The qua lity of my fellow recipients and their accomplishments across widely diverse fields is impressive. It was a wonderful feeling to be recogniz ed by your industry peers – many of whom I’ve worked with directly and all of whom I respect greatly,” J ohnson said. “ Our management team and other civic and community leaders recogniz e the magnitude of the D MSA award.”

HOME-GROWN LEADER B orn and raised in Cleveland, D iSanto began his investment career in 1985 with McD onald & Co. He was named CEO of Ancora in 2006 and chairman in 2014. He also is the former president and chief operating officer of Ma us Investment Group, having served as managing partner at Gelfand Partners Asset Management until its merger with Maxus in 2007. W hen Maxus was sold to F ifth Third

B ank in 2001, D iSanto also served as executive vice president of F ifth Third’s advisers division. D iSanto says being honored as SME Cleveland’s Executive of the Year brings additional accolades to Cleveland organiz ations and business. “ It’s pretty humbling, especially after you see some of the past recipients of this award,” D iSanto says. “ If you take a look at all of the organiz ations and individuals they are recogniz ing, it shows the community the type of leaders we have, and the depth of leadership we have in this community.

D iSanto serves on the boards of Medical Mutual of Ohio, Case W estern R eserve University, the Greater Cleveland F ilm Commission, W .F . Hann & Sons, The Eastern Company, R B rands and Station Check. He is on the executive committee for the board of trustees at Case W estern R eserve U niversity. “ I am a believer and supporter of Cleveland,” D iSanto said, adding that Ancora attracted a number of young professionals back to the area from N ew York and San D iego. “ Cleveland has so much to offer.” He is former chairman of the board of regents of Saint Ignatius High School, and former chairman and current trustee of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. He is a past board member of L orain N ational B ank and Park iew ederal Savings Bank. D iSanto earned his undergraduate degree in management science and his MB A from Case W estern R eserve U niversity.

igel Benn worked as the regional construction manager for Swagelok Capital Projects Company, responsible for major capital project sales within the region of Europe, Middle East and Africa. These projects typically have a long NIG EL B ENN gestation period, are comple in nature Pro ect sales specialist and have multiple stakeholders around the globe. Benn worked with a team of project specialists throughout the region and consistently delivered multimillion dollar project wins through e clusive specifications secured early in the project lifecycle. The completed installations provide legacy sales for the local business unit for decades following completion. A qualified mechanical engineer, Benn worked with Swagelok in Manchester in industrial sales and sales management before moving to London to establish a new project sales group. This led to him being invited to relocate to Cleveland. Primarily focused on the oil and gas industry, as well as power, Benn was responsible for many product introductions and technical solutions. Nigel is married to a Cleveland native and in 201 became an American citizen.

Burns is on the board for the Ohio Travel Association and the Ohio Has IT Northeast Ohio Advisory Board, a marketing group that promotes Ohio to motorcoach groups.

ason Schultz, vice president of marketing for Great Lakes Integrated, is part of the fourth generation in his family business. He started in the family business at 16, working summers in the printing plant and fulfillment center. After earning his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati, Schultz went to work full time at Great Lakes Integrated as an account executive. He moved up to director of marketing in JASON SCHULTZ 2013, where he led the marketing direction and strategy. As vice president of Vice president marketing, Schultz manages national accounts, guides the strategic direction of marketing of the company and serves on the comGreat Lakes Integrated pany’s leadership team. Schultz serves as treasurer of the state board for the Printing Industries of Ohio and Northern Kentucky Northern Advisory Council, where he previously served as a board member and chairman. He was inducted into the Graphic Arts Hall of Distinction in 2014. During his college years, Schultz worked for the nonprofit Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled, helping individuals with developmental disabilities integrate into their local communities. Shultz has two children, Eddie and Natalie.

ris Snyder, CEO and founder of Vox Mobile, has been in the enterprise mobility market for more than 15 years. As a leader in the end user experience movement, Snyder serves clients in search of breakthrough innovation by pursuing application KRIS SNYDER success in the $15 billion global CEO managed mobility service marketplace. Vox Mobile Snyder led Vox Mobile’s growth by leveraging venture capital partnerships and building like-minded business communities. In 2011, he helped found the Global Enterprise Mobility Alliance (GEMA), a global joint venture headquartered in Switzerland. GEMA acts as a delivery network for mobile managed services in 87 countries. In 2013, he helped launch Mobile Thought Leaders, a global community of more than 2,000 IT and business professionals responsible for driving enterprise mobility initiatives. Today, the organization has more than 3,000 members in 10 countries. Prior to Vox Mobile, Snyder held positions with MCPc, i2 Technologies and McMaster-Carr Supply Company. He was named Ernst & Young’s Technology Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013. He also was named a 2009 Best of Tech Leadership finalist and Social Media finalist by the Northeast Ohio Software Association (now OHTec).

ennifer A. Stull has been a key staff member with the Osborn Engineering Company for 17 years, focused on building strong client relationships and helping the team execute the needs of clients. Stull serves as the vice president of business development JENNIFER A. In addition to supervising her immediate staff, she mentors a team of internal market sector leaders and client managers to help them foster their existing client relationships and to provide appropriate tools to create new ones. She is a certified professional services marketer, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate and active in multiple trade groups. She earned her undergraduate degree in international business from Heidelberg College and a graduate degree in business administration. She has two daughters, ages 8 and 11.
