Cape Peninsula University of Technology SARChI: NRF Research Chair in ICT for Development: Innovation for Smart and Sustainable Development Call for Applications Postdoctoral Fellowship The ICT for Development: Innovation for Smart and Sustainable Development (ISSD) housed within the Faculty of Informatics and Design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), invites applications from outstanding early-career researchers for two Postdoctoral Fellowship positions commencing in 2026. The focus is on national priorities for sustainable growth, social equity and technological advancement for the South African healthcare and small business sectors. The fellowship offers an exceptional opportunity for early-career researchers to strengthen their research trajectory, collaborate within an active scholarly community and contribute to innovative and socially responsive knowledge production. Postdoctoral Fellowship (two available positions) • • •

Duration: One year, renewable annually for up to three years, subject to satisfactory performance and continued availability of NRF SARChI funding. Annual Stipend: R320 000 (tax-free), plus R50 000 allocated for research operational costs. Location: Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Faculty of Informatics and Design, District Six, Cape Town.

Candidates must have obtained their doctoral degree within the past five years at the time of application and must meet NRF eligibility requirements for postdoctoral fellowships. The fellowship is subject to NRF SARChI Conditions of Grant and institutional approval processes. Fellows are expected to devote their working time to the programme and may not hold concurrent paid full-time employment. Please note: This is a full-time postdoctoral fellowship and does not constitute employment at CPUT.
