INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CPUT GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE (GBV) SURVEY

GBV SURVEY: AN EXPLORATION OF THE PREVALENCE AND EXTENT OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AT THE CAPE PENINSULA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, TO IMPROVE POLICY AND SUPPORT
The Centre for Diversity, Inclusivity and Social Change, in Partnership with Pillar 6 of the Institutional Gender-Based Violence Committee, which focuses on Research and Information Management Systems invites all students and employees to take part in an important study on the experiences and perceptions of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) within our institution.
This GBV study aims to:
1. Understand your definition of Gender-Based Violence
2. Assess how prevalent GBV is within and around CPUT
3. Identify common areas of occurrence (on and off campus)
4. Gauge knowledge of reporting and support mechanisms at CPUT
5. Evaluate awareness of survivor support services, on campus and beyond
6. Understand the overall extent of GBV in our institutional context
This study supports national imperatives, including:
• The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) Policy Framework to Address Gender Based Violence in the Post-School Education and Training System (2020)
• The National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (NSP-GBVF) 2020-2030
The survey is open to all CPUT employees and students, you are encouraged to share the link to all employees and students, to ensure maximum participation. Your responses are anonymous and confidential, and will help inform how we strengthen safety, support, and accountability at CPUT.
