ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN INTERIOR DESIGN AWARDS FOR 2022 Roche Bobois Furniture Design Competition 2022 PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Design a luminaire, with a new source of light. Sustainable materials must be given priority, and upcycling can offer an opportunity to develop new craftsmanship techniques in collaboration with local craftspeople. The narrative function was equally important for a lighting object as for any other design object, and the “Holy Grail” lies in the perfect balance of beauty and efficiency in a single piece of design: the light not only needed to foster visibility, but also n e e d e d to create a story and occupies our space for the pleasure of both the eye and the spirit.

A prestigious design jury was invited to the Roche Bobois Design Awards: Ms Charrisse Johnston IID - African Institute of the Interior Design Professions Mr Fabrice Berrux Talented and abundant designer for Roche Bobois Julian and Trevyn McGowan Southern Guild Gallery Mr Charl Edwards HOUSE AND LEISURE, Editor-in-Chief Ms Marcia Margolius SA DÉCOR & DESIGN Ms Edith Pauly French journalist involved in South African design community Selection and Awards The first-prize winner Valdina – CPUT won R 20,000 The second prize winner Cheri-Lee – CPUT won R 15,000 The three third prize winner Johannes – CPUT won R 10,000
