www.viksefamilyfarm.com Ron Pederson - Auctioneer 780-373-2255 Welcome to the 7th Annual “Tip The Scale” Bull Sale. If you are looking for a new herdsire, you can make that financial investment at the “Tip the Scale” sale knowing that you are putting extra dollars in your pocket! Backed by some of the most predictable, consistent genetics this industry has to offer, this is as strong a set of bulls as you will find anywhere this spring. Plan now to gather up your family and attend the sale on Family Day, February 20th, and be prepared.... it’s not just a sale, it’s an event that you will long remember! See you there - Ron Pederson

The Vikse Family Farm was established in 1902 and we are proud of its 110 years and its newest member making it six generations. There’s lots of choices out there and we really appreciate you considering us for your next herd sire. The friendships we’ve made and the places our cattle have taken us, the memories can never be replaced. To be able to grow up and raise our family in our community is really special. A really big “Thank You” to all our family and friends that helped us make this day happen! We feel our offering is right at the top of any bulls you will find anywhere. The very maternal cows we purchased from Eggens six years ago have really proven to be a fantastic investment when we crossed them with herd sires such as Hamaruka, Fully Loaded, Smokin Jo, Well Put, Overflow and Wildcard. Its hard to express how excited we are about our Charolais program. The silver, tan and buckskin market continues to be exceptionally strong. We expanded our Charolais herd this summer with the Altwasser Charolais herd from Lumby, BC. Altwasser had one of the recognized herds in BC and we are very excited to have incorporated their herd into our herd. So, together with our Spring Side cows, we’ve had an exciting and thrilling fall show season. Today we both feel really blessed and excited to offer you Charolais bulls from these highly successful herds. We feel we can offer you a truly excellent product at a fair price and we will stand behind it 100%. Bulls can get injured and things can happen but we have the numbers to help you out. It doesn’t matter if you bought a bull from us or not, we’re happy to help. We want your bull purchases to look great not only today, but for years to come. We are feeding a pelleted ration from Wetaskiwin Co-op that has ZERO grain. Developing and growing the bulls while not jeopardizing feet, liver and longevity is our goal. Come check out these tremendous pens of five females that have been hand selected, palpated and preg checked. What an opportunity to pick up females from breeders that have used our genetics! Come at noon, have a burger, take in the sale, see some “Great Genetics” and join us afterwards for a "Great BBQ Steak". DON'T MISS THIS EVENT, FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!! See You on Family Day!! The Vikse Family Dave & Tracee Vikse Mike, Amanda & Davin, Dusty & Jessica, Nicole, Jesse

Please Bring this Catalogue with you to the Sale! The mailed out catalogues are numbered; if you have your catalogue in hand on Sale Day and your catalogue number is drawn, you will win a PRIZE!!

I love when a plan comes together! The opportunity to use a legend like Divide 8J, to be able to walk a bull of his magnitude that is 10 years old, doesn’t come around very often. 8J is an “Elite” sire and has 27 “Elite” daughters, the most famous of which would be the Goldie daughters such as 240L, the dam of Fully Loaded. Also in that group are the Brandy daughters and sons such as Cinch, Thirty X and Digger. We sold ½ interest in Red Vikse Hamaruka 158W to Corona Creek. We are so far impressed with his sons and really excited about his daughters

5X - Direct daughter of 42M We purchased the 42M daughter, 5X, at Red Roundup this fall from Y3 Red Angus for $7700. We took her on to be Red Angus Champion Female at Lloyd and Farmfair Reserve Champion Bred Heifer. 42M, 118Y’s maternal grandam and a favorite of mine, raised the Farmfair Junior Bull Calf Champion, Top Cut 42P.

SELLING 50% POSSESSION AND 50% INTEREST (call for details) 118Y, the Farmfair Reserve Sr Bull Calf Champion, has “Got’er All” and we are really excited to see what he will do at the Canadian Bull Congress. He is a bull that will make an impact in the bred with his natural muscle definition, huge volume, thick cherry red hair, and unique pedigree. We have several daughters out of 118Y’s dam, 542R, and a son in our “Champion Pen of Three” that sold to Anchor Lazy U for $7000. If you need a power bull that will add lots to a program 118Y is that bull! We would like to work something out with the new owner that we could share possession as we would really like to continue to show 118Y. –2–

We are very pleased with the Wild Card sons’ moderate birth weights with natural muscle definition and growth. I really appreciate 286Y as he is one of the youngest bulls in the sale. We got his dam, 667S, out of Graham Red Angus in Ontario.

What better way to breed your first calvers to a bull likes “Smokin Jo” and what better deal than Smokin Jo and a Fully Loaded combination. We showed 183Y with his dam at the Lloyd Stockade where they were the Reserve Champion Red Angus Female. In 183Y’s pedigree there are five “Elite” sires or dams and he really looks the part. “tip the Scale” Guest Consignment from Goad family angus Welcome! It is an honor once again to be partnering with Vikse Family Farm and bringing to you the 7th Annual “Tip the Scale” Bull Sale. It sure is hard to believe where the time has gone - it seems like just yesterday we were taking down from the 6th annual sale and already here we are now preparing for the 7th annual sale! 2011 has been a great year for all farmers this year, cattle prices rose higher than they had been in the past decade, there was lots of rain that allowed for great grass conditions and crops, and grain prices have been on the up swing as well. There are more and more younger people wanting to get into agriculture more than ever this year, as they can see the optimism and are actually excited about farming now. These are all great to see and have been long overdue for all farmers, they can feel peace knowing there are generations coming up that are wanting to take over and they know that there can be a chance that they can succeed at it. This is a very exciting time to be involved in agriculture and the future looks great. We, at Goad Family Angus, believe in the future of agriculture and that our bulls will work for you and look great for years to come. This year, again, we are feeding a pellet ration from Country Junction Co-op in Wetaskiwin that has ZERO grain (no starch). We want the bulls to grow and develop and not burn out. We stand behind our bulls 100%. All of our bulls come with the same GUARANTEE as any Vikse bull. Buy with CONFIDENCE. We are very proud of the bulls that we are bringing to the sale this year. They are all backed by great dams that we have been hand selected to introduce into our herd for their quality and maternal strengths. Each of the six bulls that we have on offer are all very unique and have qualities that they can add to any cow herd. If you have any questions or are not able to make it Sale Day, please give us a call and we will be sure to help.

Brylor Panama 69P, Walkabout’s sire, has been a huge influence on the Ter-ron herd as many of their top sellers in their bull the last couple years have been out of Panama daughters. Admired for his massive depth of body and his impressive feet, we are impressed how well Walkabout has done on his first calf crop. Both his sons and daughters have so many of his great features.

A standout from birth, 107Y brings fresh genetics and unique color to the Red Angus breed. With his explosive muscle shape, depth of body, and great feet which he comes by naturally from his sire, he has HERD SIRE written all over him. The dam, 107T, has a great disposition. She was a member of our “Pen of Five” that won Grand Champion in Camrose and was shown at a couple local shows with great success. We feel that Walk the Line brings it all together in a great package and his color and fresh genetics make him that much more exciting.
