SECTION 1: SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1.2 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS & HAZARD CODES Failure to follow safe operating procedures can lead to structural damage, overturn, severe personal injury, or loss of life. All operators must be certified and familiar with standard crane operation safety codes (ANSI/ASME B30.5). DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTROCUTION HAZARD
Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 feet (3.05m) from power lines up to 50kV. Increase clearance by 0.4 inches (10mm) for every 1kV over 50kV. NEVER operate crane when boom or load cable could touch energized lines.
CAUTION: CRANE STABILITY & OVERLOAD WARNING
Do not exceed the manufacturer's rated capacities shown in Section 4. Operating beyond rated load charts causes structural failure or tipping. Rated loads are based on the crane being perfectly level on a firm supporting surface.
General Safety Rules: • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, and eye protection are mandatory within 50 feet of operating radius. • Signal Personnel: The operator must obey signals only from the designated signalman. However, a STOP signal given by anyone must be obeyed immediately. • Ground & Foundation Support: Ensure pedestal bolts or outrigger/ground pads are secured to tested structural supports capable of handling maximum reaction forces. • No Personnel Hoisting: Hoisting personnel on load lines or hooks is strictly prohibited unless using certified personnel platforms compliant with OSHA regulations.
[ FIG 3.1: CLEARANCE ZONE AND SWING RADIUS HAZARD ] Maintain 36-inch minimum clearance between rotating super-structure and fixed obstructions. Barricade swing radius area.

SECTION 2: INSTRUMENT PANEL
2.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL & MONITORING SYSTEMS The gauge cluster provides continuous monitoring of engine oil pressure, coolant temperature, pneumatic system pressure, and electrical charging. Gauge / Indicator
Normal Operating Range
Critical Threshold / Action
Engine Oil Pressure
40 - 65 PSI
Below 25 PSI: Shut down engine immediately.
Engine Coolant Temp
160°F - 185°F (71°C - 85°C)
Above 205°F (96°C): Idle engine and check cooling system.
Air Pressure Gauge
90 - 120 PSI
Below 80 PSI: Brake assist lost; do not operate.
Voltmeter
24V - 28V DC
Below 22V: Charging system malfunction.
2.2 Mechanical Clutches & Brakes Adjustment The ABS-78B utilizes internal expanding shoe clutches and external contracting band brakes on main hoist and swing assemblies. • Clutch Clearance: Maintain 1/16" (1.6mm) clearance between friction lining and clutch drum when disengaged. • Brake Band Adjustment: Adjust main brake foot pedal travel so that full braking effort is achieved at 2/3 of total pedal stroke. • Dead-End Anchors: Inspect wedge sockets and dead-end pins daily for wear or displacement.
