Membership Highlight

This month we are celebrating and recognizing two members who topped the chart for most golf rounds in 2025. Sarah Budan tops the charts with 123 rounds played while her husband Tom came in 3 with 107 rounds. This powerhouse couple played the most golf at Crow Valley in 2025! rd

Dear Members,

I want to take a moment to share my commitment to developing the strongest team possible for Crow Valley Golf Club. Our Board’s release of the strategic plan document this past month has been years in the making and it embodies what our team is working toward We share the mission of providing premier golf, dining, sports and social experiences. We are investing over $7M into the capital assets this upcoming year but I thought I’d take this opportunity to elaborate on the other investments our team is working on

Partnership with North Scott High School (NSHS)

Tim Gravert and Donavan Robinson have been working with local officials at NSHS to develop a partnership that will be mutually beneficial. This collaboration not only strengthens our ties within the community but also creates opportunities to mentor and inspire future talent in the golf and agronomy industry. This upcoming season the flowers in the flowerbeds will have been started and grown through the greenhouse at NSHS Donavan and Tim will also be serving as resident industry experts to work with the students and discuss real life experiences.

Management Trip to Nebraska

Many of our managers are experts in their respective areas, however, their total exposure to high end golf clubs is not extensive Therefore, In November, our clubhouse team of Michael Cook, Bri Wehrle, Emily McColgan, Preston McHugh and I went and visited some very renowned clubs including; Champions Run in Omaha, Country Club of Lincoln, and Lost Rail in Gretna. During this trip we also went through a Gallup training course and grew closer as a management team. We are excited to learn and grow as a team!

Grounds Team Education Trip

In preparation for the construction year, Tim Gravert and Levi Floming have taken a few of their team members to other clubs to see exactly what an irrigation installation, Bunker rebuild and construction project look like firsthand. We want our team to be prepared and confident going into the year we have planned.

Donavan is our resident “flower guy”. If you’ve been impressed with the flower beds around the club, he is the team member responsible. Donavan is a horticulturalist by trade, and he joined our team in February 2024. He is a devoted husband and father to 4 children.

Paul is celebrating 10 years at Crow Valley this December. Paul has been overseeing our Accounts Payable, Payroll and AR responsibilities ensuring our office and staff are taken care of.

CAPITAL PROJECTS BEGIN RangeEnhancements

Our Grounds Crew is overseeing an enhancement project to our Range We will be installing hitting mats at the top of the former flowerbed. This will give us the ability to extend our outdoor hitting season as well as ensure better turf quality throughout the year. For enhanced safety we will be extending netting on the Southeast corner of the parking lot and evaluating other barrier options as necessary. This project will be finished before golfing season 2026 begins Expected Look & Style

Dear Members,

Over the past several months, our clubhouse team has been working hard to strengthen our service culture. A big part of that progress comes from listening to one another, supporting each other, and recognizing the incredible work happening within this department Those small moments of appreciation from our members are having a bigger impact than most members realize

The importance of feedback cannot be understated, which is why we ask that every member submit their honest feedback via the surveys following a dining experience. The feedback shared with our team, both positive and constructive has led to meaningful improvements: clearer expectations at the start of each shift, quicker and more relevant communication through daily service reminders, and getting key information out ahead of service so everyone has what they need. These small but consistent efforts are creating noticeable results. Driven by the people working shoulder-to-shoulder each day.

Looking ahead, we’re doubling down on helping one another take a “big-picture” approach to service That means using our pre-shifts more intentionally to share feedback, celebrate victories, discuss areas for growth, and keep everyone connected to the overall guest experience. We’ll also continue cross-training, so each position better understands how its role impacts the flow of the entire department. When the team sees how interconnected our work is, service becomes stronger and pride in our performance grows naturally

Recently, our staff have been encouraged to share what makes their jobs easier, what slows them down, and what small adjustments would help them succeed. Those insights have led to a series of “micro-improvements”. The kind of subtle changes that make a shift smoother and a guest experience stronger At the same time, I will continue to be thoughtful with scheduling and labor, staying efficient without ever compromising my solemn promise that we continue to develop the premier experiences you deserve.

As we prepare to reopen after the remodel, our team will have the opportunity to come back together with a fresh start, expanded training, and a renewed sense of confidence We’ve already made incredible progress by listening, learning, and growing together, and we’re excited to carry that momentum forward for both our staff and our members.

As we close out another golf season in Iowa, the grounds team has been hard at work preparing the course for winter. Many golfers may not realize it, but this time of year is just as busy for us as the peak of summer After a season defined by record heat, high humidity, and heavy rainfall, both the turf and the crew are enjoying this week’s blanket of snow.
