PERFECT DAY
REAL WEDDING Perfect day Emma and Thomas’ springtime nuptials were styled using an elegant palette of rose gold

Tom proposed to Emma the morning they arrived in Mexico for a holiday in September 2018, which came as a surprise to her since they’d been together for 10 years and were childhood sweethearts. A random bag search at the airport almost scuppered Tom’s plans though, as he looked on worrying the ring would be found and that he’d have to get down on one knee in that rather less than romantic setting!
Join us as the bride gives us the lowdown on 19th April 2021 – the big day...

I’m really into history, so we both knew we wanted a beautiful historical venue to be married in.

I wore a Milly May Bridal gown from Molly Dolly Bridal Boutique. It was only the second one I tried on and I loved it. Following a floral theme, the detail on the dress was a lacey leaf vine pattern, which matched our custom-design wedding rings – so I had to have it!
I chose flowers in orange and pink tones to complement our rose gold theme.
We just wanted to get married and move on with our lives. We’d already waited nearly an extra year and wanted to put an end to all the postponement and money worries. Thomas and his dad wore matching suits, which they chose together. We wanted a natural-looking cake, so it made sense for it to be displayed on a log stand with a selection of fresh flowers.

Covid restrictions meant we couldn’t have a full reception, but after the ceremony we all enjoyed some drinks together and served our cake.

Being with my immediate family members and having such a small wedding made the day that much more memorable. My bridesmaid looked beautiful in a blush and rose gold sequinned dresses from Maya at ASOS.

We had to cancel two dates planned in 2020, so by our third date, 19th April 2021, we said we’d definitely go ahead as long as we were permitted to, even if it meant we could only have six guests. Eventually we were allowed to have 13, plus the two of us. There was so much stress and uncertainty leading up to the April date though, as the government guidelines weren’t at all clear.

We plan to have a large party in the future that all of our nearest and dearest can be part of. Try to take it all in and be sure to spare a moment to step back and enjoy every moment. It really does go so fast.
