MESSAGE FROM THE REEVE
Amanda McDonald
On behalf of Council, I am proud to share the County of Grande Prairie’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. This plan reflects Council’s commitment to strengthening our communities and supporting a prosperous and sustainable future. It provides clear direction for the next four years and outlines the priorities that will guide our decisions, investments and partnerships.
Council created this plan by focusing on what matters most to the people who live and work in the County. We heard consistent messages about the importance of safe and welcoming communities, a strong local economy, responsible land use, reliable infrastructure and transparent, accountable governance. These themes guided our work and shaped the five priority areas that form the foundation of this plan.
The 2026–2030 Strategic Plan highlights our commitment to Quality of Life by supporting recreation, community facilities, safety and community connection. It strengthens our focus on the Economy by supporting existing industries and inviting new opportunities that contribute to long-term prosperity. It advances Transportation by emphasizing the movement of people and goods and by investing in infrastructure that will serve our region for decades. It guides Land Use and Management by encouraging thoughtful decisions that balance growth, servicing capacity and the long-term needs of our communities. It reinforces Governance and Organizational Excellence by promoting accountability, evidence-based decision making and strong partnerships with local organizations and other governments.
This plan also recognizes the value of collaboration. The success of our communities relies on meaningful relationships with residents, local businesses, community partners and our municipal and provincial neighbors. Council will continue to build these relationships and work together to support a resilient and connected region.
As we look ahead, Council remains committed to responsible leadership that supports both short-term needs and long-term opportunities. The Strategic Plan helps us stay focused, respond to change and prepare the County for a strong and stable future. It reflects our shared belief that the County of Grande Prairie is a place where people can thrive and where communities can grow with confidence.
