Triton launched its unique deep soil engagement direct drill in 2018 to give plough based yields from direct drilling. 6 years later we are consistently achieving higher yields from the Triton than from ploughed trials on our own land. The Triton is the only all weather seed drill on the market that gives the flexibility to grow maximum profit autumn sown crops whilst reducing blackgrass from late drilling... several manufacturers are now also claiming all weather capability... if these are false claims then the farmer’s new approach will be thwarted.

Visitors gear up for new-look Midlands Machinery Show

Thousands of visitors will flock to a new-look Midlands Machinery Show this month.

Representing a cross-section of exhibits , demonstrations, driving experiences and business-focused talks, this year’s event is on 19 November at the Newark Showground.

Now in their eleventh year, show organisers have re-designed the format, creating a one-day event for time-pressured visitors to see new machines, meet up with friends and get the inside line on the big issues currently affecting farming.

The Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society (NNAS) organises the industry showcase to support its charitable objectives to promote, celebrate and champion agriculture across the Midlands region.

New format

Chief executive Simon Eccleston said: “It’s a chance to speak to experts and see the new product innovations that are coming to market while retaining that social and networking aspect to the show that we know is hugely valued.”

“Focusing on what farmers want

Ecclestone says the new format has created an event which focuses on what farmers want.

New for 2025 is a UTV driving experience. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a 4x4 driving course and a packed programme in the demonstration ring, while catching up with colleagues and friends during a quieter time of the farming year.

Attendees will be able to meet major machinery dealers, parts suppliers and engineering specialists, while connecting with consultants and service providers across energy, construction and water – as well as innovative agri-tech companies.

A major highlight of the 2025 event will be the NFU Environment Conference, which will share insights on future of agri-environment schemes and update attendees on other key areas of agricultural policy.

Tractor maker unveils range of new technology at Agritechnica

• Battery-electric range extended

• Retrofit autonomous technology

• Artificial intelligence for tractors

Fendt is pushing the boundaries of machinery by showing new battery, artificial intelligence and autonomous technology at this month’s Agritechnica event.

Fendt launched the battery-electric e107 V Vario in 2023, followed by the standard e107 Vario in 2024. Both models offer 50 kW (68 hp) in Eco mode and up to 66 kW (90 hp) for a short time in Dynamic+ mode.

A new Fendt e100 Vario with a battery-electric range extender from GreenIng will be debuted at Agritechnica, which takes place on 9-15 November at Hanover in Germany.

‘Ground-breaking’

The range extender will be mounted on the front linkage with a precision seed drill mounted on the rear linkage which uses relay cropping and a lane detection guidance system.

“This is a ground-breaking system that operates independently of a Global Navigation Satellite System to use environment sensors which follow land contours precisely and dynamically without tramlines,” says Fendt’s Ed Dennett.

The recently launched Fendt 800 Vario features a new cab with a new lighting concept and options for installing sensors such as the Tech Rails and numerous smart farming options

Precision farming will be a key feature at the show

including the new Fendt Workgroup function, Tramline Control or TIM.

“This is a groundbreaking system

At Agritechnica, visitors will be able to see the 800 Vario with a new OutRun retrofit kit from PTx Trimble which provides autonomous driving. The OutRun retrofit kit links combine harvesters and grain carts to carry out some work autonomously.

A further Fendt and PTx Trimble development is RowPilot, an AI-based row management system that can be used to manage mechanical hoeing devices with ISOBUS compatibility.

The artificial intelligence-driven technology recognises plants at soil level which increases accuracy on slopes and in windy conditions. The drift of the hoe on the slope is additionally compensated for by an additional position sensor.

Gold award recognises dealer excellence

Manns received a Gold Dealer Excellence award at a recent Claas dealer council meeting held at Saxham, Suffolk.

The accolade – which was also awarded to four other Claas dealers, recognises high overall service levels and support across all branches. All five businesses operate, and is testimony to these businesses, all of which operate multiple branches.

A total of eight dealerships received recognition, with the overall Claas UK Dealer of the Year Award presented to Leinster Farm Machines,

based in Duleek, County Meath, in Ire land.

Three family dealerships, Rick erby, Gordons and Olivers, were awarded Claas UK Platinum Dealer Excellence awards. Gold awards went to Manns, Claas Western, Erwin, Kellys and Leinster Farm Machines. Calaas said the overall Dealer of the Year accolade awarded to Leinster Farm Machines reflected their overall performance in terms of overall mar ket share, financial benchmarking, fi nancial performance and assessments from customer surveys.

“In contrast to conventional systems, AI relies not only on the colour of the crops, but also on its geometric properties,” adds Mr Dennett. “This means RowPilot can even operate in areas with dense weed coverage and inhomogeneous crops.”

Operators using RowPilot can set the position of the camera and the row spacing on the terminal. Information on the height, width or colour of the crop are not needed, enabling the system to quickly change between different crops.

“Fendt has recently launched new tractor ranges but these developments in battery, autonomous and AI driven technologies are a sign of how a new type of machine-driven efficiency is going to help farming save time and money,” says Mr Dennett.

Global launch of high-capacity applicator

The new Stocks Ag Turbo Jet 10 Hydraulic (HD) will be launched to the global market at Agritechnica this month.

The Turbo Jet 10 HD provides users with maximum airflow for higher application rates at working widths from 10m up to 15m. It can also be run at faster forward speeds and can be set up to apply full-width, in bands or in rows as required.

‘Game-changer’

Renowned for airflow and output and built with industry-leading high-capacity electric fans, the current range of Stocks Turbo Jet’s excel at applying product at up to 10m. But the appetite to work at wider working widths globally continues.

This goal has led Stocks Ag to develop an applicator with more air flow to apply seeds such as oilseed rape, clover, grass or mustard at high rates from 10m as well as micro and granular products at low to medium rates, all at up to15m.

“With its upgraded fan and performance beyond 10 metres, we believe this will be a real game-changer in the market,” says Sean Stanfield, sales manager at Stocks Ag.

The Turbo Jet 10 HD’s hydraulic fan can be remotely mounted, making it simple to integrate with different host machines. Remote mounting also enables the fan to be sited away from dusty areas.

On Cambridge rolls, the hydraulic unit can

be fixed to the main drawbar with the hopper positioned above the rollers, reducing the hydraulic pipework required.

Product is metered by a rotary feed and delivered pneumatically before being spread accurately in the field.

Piling on the power at vintage tractor show

The Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show returned this month with one of its most ambitious programmes yet.

In an incredible show of dedication to Caterpillar, more than 110 individual machines were brought to Newark Showground to mark a century of the iconic yellow brand, alongside a host of other major engineering milestones.

Enthusiasts from across the UK gathered on 8-9 November, where a weekend crowd of over 10,000 people witnessed exhibits which had been brought from all over the country by enthusiasts.

It was the largest-ever gathering of Caterpillar machines seen in the UK, with 113 exhibits spanning a century of tracklayer development, from early Holt crawlers of the 1910s to modern-day giants.

Among the headline attractions were be the Caterpillar D10, brought by Ash Croft on behalf of Cat Plant. At up to 77 tonnes, the D10 is one of

the largest dozers in the company’s range, designed for quarrying and coal mining.

Many enthusiasts were drawn to the historic Holt 75, built in the 1910s and described as the oldest surviving example in the UK – the Caterpillar 60 – first introduced in 1925, with a fully restored 1929 example owned by Tom Balls.

Caterpillar’s RD8, a diesel-powered crawler from the 1930s used on major construction projects and in military service during the Second World War, was also on show at the well-attended event.

Mr BAlls, whose family business J C Balls & Sons sponsored the Caterpillar class, said: “To have more than a hundred Caterpillars in one place is something that’s never been done before in this country. It was a once-in-a-lifetime sight.”

The vintage show is always popular –and a good time to reminisce and see older machines

The Turbo Jet 10 HD is capable of higher application rates, says StocksAg.
